  • In this Lunchbox Grasshopper Tutorial, I will talk about the Space Truss Structure 1 from the Lunchbox plugin. First I will make a freeform Surface and then I will use this tool to convert it to a Space Truss Structure and at the end, you will learn how you can use grasshopper to model some of the structure's details.

    Hey! nice work here! I have a question: I built a truss structure using the lunchbox method, but now I would like to panel the outer triangles to create a closed façade. Is there anyway I could manage it with lunchbox??
    thanks and keep it up

    Really nice introduction, thankyou for sharing. Rather than a sphere node, can you think of a way to make something like the node design on the Bevis Marks Office building roof in London? I guess it would be a simple mesh surface the blends between all the different pipes in a minimal surface type way? Maybe Weaverbird and Kangeroo? Cheers, keep up the hard work!

      You're welcome
      Something similar to that can be achieved by Tspline Pipe but it is definitely not accurate for fabrication.

    Decent effort. Faster than out fabrication software for space trusses if less detailed. Generally the detail is not required. May I add the presentation is good. I'll check out the rest of your vids

    hi parametric house! Really love it the video!One question: how I can make this structure with straight pipe conection, not spacial but a planar truss? I just put the height of the space truss zero? sorry about my english, hope you understand my question!

      other question: how i make the space truss fit in a trimmed surface?

    • @ParametricHouse
      @ParametricHouse  Před 5 lety

      For planar ones you can use one of the output layers perhaps?

    • @ParametricHouse
      @ParametricHouse  Před 5 lety

      That's a good question! You can't!
      The truss uses the U V curves to define the lines

      glad that it helped, if you can manage to reconstruct the mesh with a network of u,v curves you can conver it to nurbs. You can also contour your mesh in two perpendicular directions and use a network surface anyway the best way is to be creative and break down the surface to perpendicular network of u,v curves,good luck👍
