I don't know if true but from what I have read online, Tesla made a deal with Baidu and as part of the deal Baidu will provide China's map to Tesla and also as part of the same deal Tesla will collect data in China then share that data with Baidu and Baidu will inspect and maybe filter the data and give it back to Tesla, the filtered/reviewed data is allowed by Chinese government to be exported to USA by Tesla for their FSD training, so Tesla can compete with its peers in China, also as part of the same package Tesla cars are now allowed to areas where Tesla cars were previously restricted.
Its not about Baidu maps as thats not required for FSD anyways and anyone in China uses Baidu Maps already, let alone most switch to Gaode anyways, which is preferred by users. Its that Baidu has the license for data collection in China and it seems Tesla does get the ability to use this license in collaboration. But as I said in the video, this is unlikely to allow data to be sent abroad for processing, in my views.

Is there a way or possibility for the manufacturerers of NIO chips to understand their design and simply replicate in a similar way? And then provide to competitors? Without breaking NIOs patents? Whats your thoughts?
NIO uses 4 NVIDIA Drive Orin chips today. NIO “said” they will use their own SoC in the ET9. Chinese CEOs aren’t afraid to sit down and talk. Look at the people who showed up at Xiaomi reveal.
Jensen is known for investing into small startups that increases the use of NVDA chips. It will be wild if he put some $ into NIO. By licensing its platform to the swap partners, NIO expands the user base of their controller chips.
I say they met to negotiate. NIOs own chip will save them money but that requires investment first - unless they are planning to have them produced by third party. NIOs chip is also leverage. NIO used to have no choice but to buy Nvidia chips. Now they can demand lower prices. Lower prices and NIO puts its own chips on hold or NIO moves on and competes with Nvidia.
West Germany wanted to reunite with east Germany because they are the same people, so why shouldn't China reunite with Chinese people in Taiwan??? The Europeans should realise that they are the strangers in this family spat and should butt out.
The chip is a big side show. Just like the Semi Solid State battery. I hope I'm proven wrong but chip design and manufacturing is a scale operation. Never made sense for Nio to get involved in this, maybe it makes sense once the business has scaled but not before
