Who is SA? - The ABYSS of the Sea of Quanta Explained | Honkai Impact 3rd

- Ever since HoYoverse introduced Sa in Chapter 38, a lot of people have been wondering about the true nature of this "God". The concept behind Sa might seem confusing, especially since the Honkai Universe is filled with higher-order entities that are very unique. All in all, Sa is the last survivor of Venus, also known as Purusha, who was blessed with power from the Sea of Quanta and went on a journey to revive her lost civilization. In this process, Sa kept absorbing more and more energy from the Sea of Quanta and became something akin to an Eldritch God, discarding Their humanity in the process.
This video goes over the entire history of Sa and Venus, how they've dealt with the Honkai, and how did They ended up becoming the main antagonist of Part 1.5. Of course, this video will also talk about Vita - who is Sa's Proxy but ended up becoming self-aware and broke free from her master.
Also, I will touch a little bit about Marah, the Sky People, and how they might be related to the events in APHO, but I want to make a separate video on that in the future.

I want to reiterate it here since maybe the explanation from the video might be confusing. Sa is the original Vita from Venus. After They got powers from the Sea of Quanta, They discarded that name and became Sa. The Vita we met in Part 1.5 is Sa's Proxy, an avatar/clone that looks like Sa when They were human. Sa created Vita to oversee the energy collection process. At some point, with Marah's help, Vita awakened her own consciousness and took on Sa's human name that They discarded.
Later Edit: I don't know why some of you feel the need to spoil the Part 2 story in the comments, but I will delete those as soon as I see them.
Part 1.5's story was way better than what people like to give it credits for. Vita's/Sa's story and all the suffering and development she went through was perfect
It was better by default for not having terrible part 1 ending already.

I love this game and play it daily. But I also work 9 hrs a day. Whenever a new chapter comes up, I try my best to concentrate on the excruciatingly long and complicated dialog, but alas, at one point or the other, I succumb to my low energy at the end of the day and sleep so I can wake early in the morning. So I can't completely absorb and understand the story, and that's where your videos come to the rescue. Hours of long dialogs in one 15 min concise video. That's the dream. You, sir, play a crucial role in making us love this game more and more.

general fans would definitely like sa a lot more if she got her own animated short i think. she’s so amazingly well done but people didn’t have any incentive to read the stories bcs they thought they were filler and wouldn’t mean anything 😭 if this arc got an animated short i feel a lot more people would be inclined to take in the story

Jokes aside, the music during both Vita and Sa's fights are actually so good. Crimson Earth and Awareness from Vita's fight. Before Light, Zero Time, and Turn the Situation Around from Sa's fight. Those are probably my favorite things that came out from part 1.5! Heck, those might even be my favorite boss OST from HI3.
Also, I'm serious. Sa and Vita. The ultimate mother-daughter double-whopper supreme.
I really hope they add more characters with black eyes like Sa in HSR and Genshin, would be really cool tbh,we need more unique designs like that

Personally, I think Sa was an interesting enemy because she represents of what happened if someone who became a victim of Honkai decided to become something that equally, if much worse than the Honkai she faced. In other words, an oppressed became an oppressor.
If the Herrschers like the main trio, Senti, and Elysia represent how some of them can retain their humanity while still wiealding the power that comes with being one and using it to protect humanity, then Sa represents those who willingly to cast away humanity in exchange of power and committing cruelties upon other bubble worlds. And even then, that "power" doesn't enough to alleviate her own issues of shouldering everything alone, which is one of major issues plaguing certain major characters in the game.

I remember when 1.5 first started and people were screaming how it and Sa were gonna be filler with bad writing before the official release. It's funny looking back on that since Sa is one of the more well written villains, and 1.5 especially the Rebirth arc was handled much better than the Moon arc.
She's so goated as a villain its a shame she was only around so briefly, but if her prophecy was true i guess lil Vita will follow in her moms footsteps in part 2.
And the people believe that, their thoughts did not change a bit. That's because most of them did not even read it without skipping and did not actually give it a chance, whatever you say they are gonna be pessimists and find some kind of flaw

Could you explain how Sa got Su's eyes of Bodhi, and what is Moriarty's significance for this arc since you didn't mentioned him that much
They are not literally the same eyes. But, because Sa is the Venus version of Su, they share some similar traits. Hence why both had the Eyes of Bodhi. As for Moriarty... It's exactly how he puts it. He was there for drama. He just wanted to watch a good "show" and see Sa' downfall.

The goal of moriarty is realy just entertainment by using his smarts, so he he did this by fighting fu hua in intelligence battle, back in england. But currently he did it again to fu hua not for "revenge" he did it because he wanted a "rematch" on him losing to fu hua. HE THINKS OF HIS ACTIONS AS A GAME and so he has no reason for being vengeful, just a gamer in a worst than otto way possible. I hate the shit out of him. Haahhh🫤
What did Proxy Vita stand to gain from interfering with Misteln's plan in Salt Snow City?
Also, the barrier around the solar system confused me since Griseo visited other star systems.
And, I may be remembering incorrectly, but did Vita/Sa not refer to the Abyss as an enemy, even though her only enemy was the Cocoon?
I'll try to answer:
1. Vita (proxy) intervention is basically a ruse so Sa gradually channel her power enough to Vita till she strong enough to sever her tether with Sa and gain her own freedom, although in the later chapters indicates that Sa found her eventually and beat her severely
2. Griseo only visit a few planets WITHIN the Solar System. It still outside Pluto but within the imaginary barrier (our version of Oort Cloud)
3. Don't have solid answer, even though both of them never explicitly refers honkai as enemy, nothing implies otherwise either. And the concept of 'embrace' might also arrives on Venus before the planet's demise.
1. Vita wanted Sa to give her as much authority as possible to break free from Their influence, so she had to act in a manner that seemed like she was enforcing Sa's will to fool Them.
2. Griseo never left the Solar System. We know that she never got past the barrier.
3. The Abyss is the Cocoon of Finality. That's how the people of Venus called it. Sa is dubbed the Abyss of the Sea of Quanta because They imitate the Cocoon and because They are in the Sea of Quanta.
Btw, Phosphorus is not on the edge of the Solar System, its well within it, though it and the Imaginary Tidal Zone are on the inner part of the Oort Cloud. Phosphorus is only 4500 AU (0.07 lightyears) away from Earth, while the Oort Cloud ends 100000 AU away (1.58 lightyears). After that you are finally out, but then the nearest star is Alpha Centauri 4.3 lightyears away from Earth.
It's on the edge, it's told explicitly by the game itself multiple times. And according to chat gpt, Heliopause is considered to be the edge, oort cloud is outermost region. Edge of the solar system < outermost region.
Earth to Heliopause is 0.0024 light years, and earth to Phosphorus is 0.07 light years. So yes, it's indeed at the very edge of the solar system.

Sa was talking about the past when she’s still just a normal human, back then the Interstellar technology of her planet was not advanced enough to bypass the Imaginary tidal zone. She has never said that she can’t do that in her current state.

If they were indeed the cleaners then why would they target himeko who is basically in a very different universe or world when HSR has Aeons who is powerful yet Sky People still target himeko, so why? When Sa it self is afraid of Finality why target someone from different universe who have similar entities
The "cleaners" who are supposed to be the APHO constructs are under Marah's control, not Sa. Also, I don't get why they can't target Himeko? She's not an Emanator or particularly close with an Aeon. Beings like Aeons exist everywhere in the Honkai Universe and the world of HI3 is also part of Star Rail's cosmology, like all the worlds we visit in that game. Aeons can very well come to the world of HI3 if They want. If I would have to come up with a reason why we don't see them, would be because they don't want to dealt with the Cocoon either.
I've got a genuine question, since I've been building a theory for Genshin actually trying to explain its actual connections to the rest of the Honkai-verse that's more than saying "It's Project Ark lol". As a cliff-notes version it utilizes Aether and Lumine's drip marketing from 2019 to draw a connection to HI3rd's universe due to being signed by Kevin, and the quotes he uses saying they're from another world/planet that matches the description of Venus. Alongside the fact Morning Star and Evening Star are associated with them which outside of being a connection to Lucifer, also draws connection to Venus, and Descender's aren't just Outlanders, but ones with a will on par to that of the world/planet as a whole. While I've seen people talk about it I couldn't find a source on where "The Dreams of Honkai Beasts" came from, but with Mercury having no civilization, Mars and Earth being spoken for right now in HI3rd, Uranus and Neptune being clumped together suggesting they're one civilization across two planets, with then Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus also having one civilization each that were all invaded by Honkai, it also utilizes this. Essentially pairing with the fact Teyvat has undergone a Samsara cycle with an equal amount to how many Descender's there's been, and that at the end all civilizations specifically get destroyed before a proper reset, I'm suggesting the Primordial One/Heavenly Principles, The Second Who Came, The Third Descender, and The Traveler we play as are all Herrscherr's of Finality of their respective planets that have claimed the Ark of Teyvat as their new home, but with Honkai still coming in and wiping out Civilization each cycle. (with there being other similarities such as The Four Shades of the Primordial One being a very similar concept to Sirin's Pseudo-Herrscherr's she made in Second Eruption, the Traveler's original power being some Herrscherr Authority they somehow shared with their Sibling which isn't a Herrscherr Finality and the Traveler's adaptiveness to the Elements of Teyvat just being since all "authorities" come from Finality originally).
But basically: Is there actually anything on the Honkai Impact 3rd sides of things that would actually debunk this theory? Particularly if that "Dreams of Honkai Beasts" thing isn't actually something canon (if it is, a source of where it gets mentioned would be great) or if it's actually impossible The Travelers could be from Venus, or even if it's hard stated somewhere the other planets' civilizations didn't get Herrscherrs or a "Herrscherr of Finality/End".
Kinda the only important things on here to ask questions about, besides this theory suggested The Abyss in Genshin is just actually another "section" of the Sea of Quanta like you suggested the "Sea of Data" might be in a previous video, but I guess that may depend on Part 2's story as well as how Genshin's unfolds (I've seen people bring up the sigil thing before to say "No", but Star Rail actually helped debunk that a bit showing something more mainstream that Quanta and even Imaginary, and other elements, have different sigils between all the Hoyoverse games they appear in so different sigils for the same thing is possible such as Celestial Energy just being another name for Imaginary).

To be honest there's a lot of characters that will do well if they are playable, mainly Vita, APHO Mei, and Keqing.
I don't think Keqing battlesuit would gonna happen since the gameplay itself already changed and she need lot of rework
APHO Mei is made more sense for them to release her battlesuit, more over now they can KEPT her moveset from APHO 2

The Sky People are supposedly under Marah's control, not Sa. But keep in mind that it has been possibly tens of thousands of years since Marah fled, so we miss a good chunk of the story here.
Slight correction, Venus didn't have "Cocoon of Finality"
They had "Cocoon of Abyss"
Earth has "Cocoon of Finality"
Mars on the other hand has "Cocoon of Unwoven"
Although it's safe to say the cocoons are of similar existence, the Purushian's (Venusians) never used the term "Finality"
The Cocoon of Finality and the Cocoon of Abyss are the same thing. The people from Venus just gave it a different name. Same with the Honkai. They didn't call it Honkai, they called it the Abyss. It's just like how they called their planet Purusha, while on Earth we call it Venus. It's the same thing with a different name.

It depends on how you look at it. Vita is older in the game's story, but Su was created first as a character.

I love Vita, but I couldn't help to feel fear when she appeared on part 2, I mean, maybe she will become like Ai and start breaking the 4th wall again and again. But Vita isn't the type to just enjoying watching the people forge their own future like Ai and I fear she will intervene at some point.

She sold her humanity, or at least some of the things that make us human, for “absolute power.” All for the sake of surpassing Honkai and rebuilding Purusha. Unfortunately, the power she got corrupted her logic and sanity. Sa may be aware of the consequences of this, but she is adamant or even didn't care to that consequences, as long as the two things I mentioned earlier can be realized.
At the end of the day, she is alone. And becoming stronger through destructive way like she did right now is the only way she could protect herself. Then again, is it worth enough of forsaking your own humanity for that power?

I can’t be the only one who kept thinking of genshin throughout this whole arc?? There’s just way too many resemblances. A “god” brings human genome to a planet. The first civilization having greek elements just like phosphorus, the seven archons resembling different ambitions and guarding over people, the cycles of celestia resetting the civilization through calamities. And the fact that otto was able to observe Teyvat implies that it s in fact located within solar system’s quantum space.
