    Hi Dave,
    Thanks so much for all your awesome videos! I used KDP Rocket to pull out a good handful of keywords, about 150.
    I'm super new to Amazon ads, but I know that with a lot of other ad services your CTR is the best initial metric to check relevance for the ads you have running. What is an average and what is a great CTR for Amazon Sponsored ads? How concerned should I be if I don't hit the average?

    Great video. And some wonderful tips.
    I would add this. If you're bold enough to do automatic targeting, you might want to add your own author name, book series, and book titles as negative keywords. Amazon loved to charge me 57 cents per click for my own name.
    I also use "Books by (my author name)" as a negative keyword.
    Also, I always ignore Amazon's suggested bid. I try to get away with bidding a lot lower. More often than not, it works.

    Hi ! Thanks for this tutorial.
    At 04:35 you choose the Kindle Edition. What about the paperback ?
    Should we add paperback to this campaign or make a dedicated campaign the each version ?
    Because it seems there is no good solution here :
    1) target ebooks competitor + add our ebook version + our paperback version to our campaign.
    Pro: if a customer click on the ad and prefer buying the paperback, amazon track this for us
    Con: the ACOS is wrong (too low). The paperback cost around x4 than an ebook.
    2) target ebooks competitor + add just our ebook version to our campaign.
    Pro: data is pure for ebook
    Con: the ACOS is also wrong because we miss people buying the paperback version after click on the ebook ad

Do you think, it would be better to create one AMS campaign with the same set of keywords from KDP Rocket and include both books? Or better to create two separate AMS campaigns for these books, thus each would use the same set of keywords... Does Publisher Rocket export into a file that can be uploaded? Or do you have to put the Publisher Rocket results into the Amazon template?

    • @Kindlepreneur
      @Kindlepreneur  Před 4 lety +1

      It exports into a csv file. Then the best way is to open the csv file, copy the column (one column at a time) of data and paste it into Amazon's ad dashboard. This is WAY better than putting it in Amazon Template or even if we had Rocket auto export as an Amazon template - the template requires you to put in type and CPC for each and every keyword before you can upload it. If you aren't sure about the process, the tutorial videos on Rocket shows how.

    Couple things I've learned, correct me if I'm wrong: After studying the search terms on my campaigns, I started adding DVD, audio, hardcover, hardback to my list of negative words. They were costing me a lot of clicks and gaining no sales. Also, the book title "The Quilt" is a comp for my book Unbroken, and I had that as broad, phrase, and exact. Broad and Exact worked; but Phrase cost me a lot of clicks from people who had typed searches like 'quilting supplies'...

I'm baffled - especially considering my book is a #1 Amazon new release in 4 categories (thanks to you!)! My book cover and little ad blurbs seem to resonate with those of I've shown it to. Any recommendations on next steps?? Thank you so much in advance!

    • @Kindlepreneur
      @Kindlepreneur  Před 4 lety

      Not sure - but the data shows that (if it is a .2%) click through rate, that thousands of people saw your cover and title, and became interested enough, and clicked on your book...but not one decided to buy the book. Asking friends or acquaintances who know your book already and you probably doesn't give the best picture since they'll be influenced on the answer. What's most likely is that they see your cover, but when they get to your book description, they are confused.

    • @dickscribble
      @dickscribble Před 4 lety

      @@Kindlepreneur Actually, I did read that article a while back and applied the idea I took away from it back in No, try just phrases in keyword slots instead of filling them with scannable, relevant words, over 120 plus books that were selling once in a while, a few good sellers now & then... The phrase-per-slot approach failed miserably for those few months and they were phrases I deduced from excel sheets parsed down using the KDP Rocket app.
      So my experiment went south when I did that but that was on me for going all in. I have notebooks and things like that mostly with a few real content books , but I believe scannable, relevant alternative words is the way to go in all 7 slots, fill all you can. And I’m seeing sales pick up again slowly, very slowly. Phrases were just not happening,
      Your app helped me realized my Kindle book should be a print book in NY Guide market, (top sellers that regularly make a few grand will often make $45 in Kindle sales) so I’ll see if that goes better. I think Amazon is just a scan-bot with key words and puts them together as phrases if your book works for those phrases …We’re all making the best guess we can. Guess you have to get your titles & subtitle in order first.
      Just sharing my experiment results. A good general format video for the 7 slots someday is what I’ll be looking for but keep these coming., Could make it a book about Golf Clubs or something-how to foramt better...Cheers.

    I took the full free Amazon Adds course after watching this video, but still have question. I've had an add going for a couple of months and it's been doing relatively well, not great but well. I want to change my custom text to see if I get more clicks. Will it mess up what I have going on. In other words, will it do something to the algorithms I've established and place me at the bottom of the pack again?

    So are sponsored ads the same as like when I do a search for say USB wire (or some random product) and the top choices at the top of the screen will say sponsored above them. It would put my book at the top like that?

      Not sure. For many of those that do they are through a publisher which has extra capabilities.

      I would try next level ninjas, they're good for product launches & verified reviews. They also do social media buzz, haven't seen it on any other platform - got some amazing Facebook content thanks to them!

    Q: Should I run AMS Book Ads when my book is on Kindle Unlimited (KDP Select)? I may not make enough from page reads to cover the cost of advertising...

    • @Kindlepreneur
      @Kindlepreneur  Před 3 lety

      That depends. Many authors do and they see it positively work for them.

  • @keiharris332

    Question: Is it against policy to upload the same book in a different book size? I figure since it isn't simple to make a different sized book for kdp and we don't know which size is going to make the most money.

    Hello everyone, firstly congratulations for the valuable video Dave.
    Secondly, I need some help,
    I don't know which keyword is better for my book, the choice is between "Investing In Stocks For Beginners" and "Stock Market Investing For Beginners". I've noticed that there aren't books that have "Investing In Stocks For Beginners" as title (the keyword is a suggested term on Amazon), but "Stock Market Investing For Beginners" has 2'000 results, that is too much. Thank you.

    Dear Dave,
    In your course, exactle in video "3.4 Grouping Your Keywords for Campaigns", you use "Keywords Search" for the first book example and "AMS Keywords search" for the second one.
    Is this a mistake?
    What would we actually use for creating a campaign?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Dave, many thanks for the useful info you share. I was going to set my first AMS campaign for a contemporary romance book but this is what popped up on the screen: At this time, books that contain mature or erotic content are not eligible for advertising. Do you have any thoughts on this? is this something that's likely to change or should we, romantica-erotica writers forget about amazon ads?

    • @Kindlepreneur
      @Kindlepreneur  Před 4 lety +1

      Sadly I think Amazon Ads won’t work for Erotica any time soon.
