People often think that as an author if you upload your book that people will instantly buy it and you'll be able to rake in a nice little passive income... but that's not the case. You need to get the book in front of people (the right people!), and in order to do that we use Amazon Ads!
In this COMPLETE walkthrough of Amazon AMS Ads, I'll take you through a step by step process of my Amazon Ad Strategy. I create these ads for every one of my books in order to help them sell in a profitable way.

This is the first video I have seen (and I have sat through a lot!) that actually demonstrates how to place ads in a way I finally understand. . There are so many videos on CZcams claiming to take you through the process, but you end up confusing you even more and are pointless, so your clear demonstration is a breath of fresh air! Vert helpfull video about amazon ads, in fact helped me understand a lot about what is going on ,. I was running only keyword ads and not the other i.e product or cateogory which seem more useful.

Thank you! The keyword ones are best for getting ranked for certain keywords and then the product ads tend to provide the best ROI for me :) category one's hit and miss!
@@selfpublishingempire I try both, now and see. My books for the niche are very competitive high quality and have value for money. As a pro artist I can offer more and better books for coloring or others in the nich, Now If I get my books to appear to the page of a " best seller"( when that is clicked) of the category,. I am sure people will try my books... So far it goes 20 clicks 3 sales, but i have managed also 1 sale for every 5 clicks average.
Would you recommend waiting weeks/months after publishing a book to launch the ad campaigns, or placing ads immediately after publishing?
I'd recommend as soon as your book is live to go go go with the ads! That's the best time to get your book ranking for keywords.

Great video, man! I've watched a lot of videos about Amazon KDP ads and yours gave a different perspective on this subject.
If both auto and manual ads are run for the same book at the same time wouldn't they interfere with each other and cancel each other out? In your example, let's say you put "Dog coloring book for adults" as a keyword in manual ad and for some reason Amazon's algorithm pulls out that exact keyword in auto ad and shows it to a customer. Then you may have to pay twice for that keyword. Once through manual ad, and then through auto ad. Is it possible?
Its possible but not something i’ve witnessed personally! My best results have tended to be with multiple ads running and some people will even set up multiple keywords ads as well. I’d suggest testing and learning what works for you :)
I'm noticing the highest success rate is for my automatic ads is the title of my book. Since people are searching for my book already (which is great), is it a waste of money to be spending ad money on my title? Should I put my title in "negative targeting" as they are already where I want them to be? Thoughts? Great video!
Ive always found manual ads to be much better. If youre having success from auto ads keep them going but i’d take the best performing search terms from the auto ad and create an optimized manual ad personally :). I wouldnt use negative targeting if your book title search term is still giving you a positive roi, but you could look at reducing the bid for that and being leas aggressive (which is also why manual ada are better!)
If you’re spending more money on ads than you make in sales are you then writing a check to KDP for the money you’ve spent?
It can be an investment to rank organically on keywords. I'll do a video on my launch strategy soon :), but essentially on Amazon no ads normally = no sales.
When you do manual ads do you choose phrase and exact word targeting o expanded too? thank you so much!
When you sell one book with one trageted word you rank just in that keyword?
I'll do a video on this soon, but yeah I tend to do exact and phrase. You basically start ranking for the keywords typed in when people make searches and then buy the book.

@@user-ln4sv1fq1n Great stuff! It's one of those that completely depends on the niche and the potential earnings of your book. If it's in a small niche I probably wouldn't spend more than $20-$40 on the launch, whereas if it's in a more popular niche you might need to spend $100+ to get it ranking for keywords. However, if you're learning I'd suggest start smaller and test and see what works for you!

Why is it that every video of this type always uses a colouring book as their example?
It's because medium content books are the best way to make money on Amazon KDP in terms of effort vs return. Videos used to be focused on low content (journals), now it's medium content and coloring books are probably the best example of these. They tend to be coloring/activity/puzzle books, but activity and puzzle books tend to take programs to make or a lot more effort.

@@selfpublishingempire It just seems to me that 'colouring book' adverts overlook the huge amount of time authors put into their work. I would appreciate some KDP related advertising advice that was targeted towards the producers of proper novels. Any ideas?
@@blackstter6317 I'll look into it. Main reason I focus a lot on the medium content is that I'm producing and marketing them very effectively, whereas with my high content there are others who are more successful than me out there.
I'll have a think about a playlist I can do for authors :)
