This Beer is from the Ocean Brewery in Gothenburg (2nd largest city in Sweden) They started making beer in 2017 so it's a very new brewery but has become very popular in Sweden since then. This is their most popular beer.

These snacks are made from lentil as you said in the video and they are made by Estrella, One of Swedens biggest snacks-brand.
The flavor Sour Cream & Onion is considered a classic taste in Sweden and there are many products with it.

Poppels is a quite new brewery as well, they started making beer 2012 but they have become very, very big since then, They are Swedens largest organic brewery and they have even started exporting beer to our lovely neighbour Norway.
(West Coast = they are from the Swedish West Coast)

Göteborg Utvalda is a collaboration between Göteborg Kex (Very big cookies/pastries manufacturer) and a Cheese Expert named Jenny Svensson. They are made from oven roasted seeds and are supposed to be eaten with a slice of cheese like you said in the video.

Polly is made from Cloetta, A big candy maker is Sweden, it's a classic since 1965 and it's one of the most
sold chocolate candy sold in Swedish history.

Dugges is also a brewery from Gothenburg (we love beer in Gothenburg) They started making beer 2005 and by 2009 they had already become to big for their old location and had to get a bigger place. It's obvious that we love to support our local brewers.

You pronounced Beerbliotek perfectly! And it's the name of the brewery. They started making beer in 2012 as well and like the others they are a local company with roots in Gothenburg, they have many summer beers with refreshing tastes.

Gränna is a old city famous for making "Polkagris" (the candy stick) many Swedes go there just to watch them make their locally produced candy. Polkagris was invented in 1859 by a lady called Amalia Eriksson. It's also one of the most popular places for school-trips if you are from the area. (everyone from my school in Gothenburg went there)

This chocolate wafer combo was created in the year 1921 and was named "Five o' clock" but they changed the name to "Kexchoklad" in 1938. It's considered a classic in Sweden and is often marketed as a sports meal, to get extra energy when working out. It's often given to kids as a snack if they are going on a trip with the school.

This candy is produced by the company "Candy People" and they started making candy in 1982.
This specific candy share the same name as a very famous ice cream called 88an. They don't taste exactly the same but they share the same nutty flavor.

Remi Nougat is a Nougat flavored cookie made by Göteborg Kex the same company that made the seeds crackers.

Läkerol is the name of the candy type, it's a pastille that is sugar- and calorie-free. It's produced by Cloetta, the same company as Polly and a perfect way to end your tasting!
It's very obvious that Nick and Alexandra is from the Gothenburg area and I think they represented Gothenburg with great products. I've lived in Gothenburg my whole life and I love japan so it was very fun seeing your reaction, Thank you for a great video!

The "seed crackers" are actually a high quality whole grain crisp bread. It will probably be even better with some cheese like a gouda or edam cheese or likely emmenthal (swiss cheese).
Or pretty much any cheese. I, myself, love a good scottish cheddar. Or pretty much any cheese. :P

Gränna = the place ”village” where the Polkagris or so called candy cane was invented :) you should go there if you go to sweden ! It looks like a photo from the 1950s , its like time stoped in that town

Infact, candycanes and polkagrisar are different. They are both however what is called cane candy.
@@jonatansmusic inventing the shape is not the same as inventing what it is made of. Gränna was ages before the so called "Candy Cane". And it is still, to this day, made by hand and made exactly the same way as it always were.

As a Swede it's rather amusing watching foreigners try Swedish snacks. The 88 Bites is a recent chocolate version of my favourite classic childhood ice cream that was launched in the 1960s called 88:an. Oh and "Gräddkola" means cream caramel in Swedish. Kex Chocklad is my favourite too, Satoshi!

Grenna/Gränna is a town, Near the lake Vättern - in southers sweden, where these candy canes originate from.
My grandmother was born in Sweden and we used to get Polkagris made with brown sugar as well as white sugar. I can't find the brown sugar variety anymore. That was our favorite.

Thanks to Nick and Alexandra for sending so many wonderful treats! It was fun to see Shinichi and Satoshi trying them. The old-fashioned stick candies were so pretty, and would be so wonderful to try, along with the apple-elderflower Lakerol candies at the end. Thanks for the great video, Shinichi, Satoshi, and Justin!

Those are "Läkerol". It is a sugar-free gummy candy orignally meant to be both soothing for the throat and a healthy alternative to candy with sugar.

Fun fact: the candy cane-like candy comes from a town called Gränna, that makes A TON of those. If you go there, you see store after store after store selling "polkagrisar" in a wide variety of different flavors. I've only been there as an adult, but it would have been amazing to visit as a kid. All the candy everywhere would have blown my mind. :)

I loved the sakutto snacks. I kept wanting to put a piece of brie on the Fröknäcke crackers. Yum! I have a gluten-free recipe for them here, guys, in case you ever want to make them:
INGREDIENTS
Makes 30-35 crackers
1 cup of gluten-free flour, such as corn flour (traditional), quinoa flour, or chickpea flour
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
1/4 cup flax seeds
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 1/4 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil
Note: Any kind of seeds can be added to or swapped out for the ones above. You can also opt to use a different sort of oil and add additional salt to taste.
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 175°C (347° Fahrenheit)
Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Pour in the water and oil. Mix everything together until it has a dough-like consistency.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the dough on the baking sheet, and add a top layer of parchment paper. Roll out the dough as thinly and evenly as possible between the two sheets of baking paper.
Pull off the top sheet of baking paper and score the dough. Do not cut all the way through. You’re scoring now to make breaking the crackers easier later.
Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes.
After you remove the crackers from the oven, leave to cool before you break into pieces.
I've noticed from getting candy bars from other countries that the wafer type is more popular than in the US
You know the Grenas polkagrisar is both the company but Grena is also the city where it’s made. Grena is super famous for its candy canes that btw is the ones you ate

The 88 is originally an ice cream, but they have made sweets meant to taste like the ice cream. It’s like vanilla ice cream with chocolate and nuts on the outside.

Gränna is a swedish town and there are a lot of different "candy artisans" located around in that town.

88 is a type of ice cream which is really popular in Sweden. The bites that they are eating are just a remake of the ice dream and the company have done this with other ice cream’s such as Piggelin, and Nogger

We have an ice cream called 88:an in Sweden (vanilia and icechocolate ice cream covered in a nutkrokant). It's supposed to be the candy version of the ice cream. Never had it though.
Arrak is like a liqour usually used in some Swedish *pastry* and when making punch (also liqour)
Polagris is a traditional Swedish candy. The have a place in Gränna (Swedish city) where they specialize in making polkagris but also something called knäck (almost lika a hard caramell) + other sweets
Gräddkola is like a toffee and the läkerol *candy* you can usually just suck on.

@@herrkulor3771 The first one I found was "Whole Hog Peach Hefeweizen" from Stevens Point Brewery, and the second was an actual German import Peach Hefeweizen (Maybe Laht Neppur?) - both picked up from Wegmans when I lived on the East Coast.
You should have tried some salmiak candy and licorice candy. Many here in Sweden and Finland love these candies. I don't think they have them in Japan.
The flavor that you have hard time to recognize is nougat, its a type of chocolate nut mix togheter^^ we have it in russia to

I think you both have answered this before but what is your favorite beer or type of beer (ipa, ale, lager, stout) or if you are not a fan of beer, your favorite liquor (sake, shoju, vodka, rum...) or mixed drink? (I personally don’t like many beers (especially IPA!), I’d rather drink hard cider or a mixed drink)

Hello! Just for info. The chocolate flavor you couldn't really identify is a typical swedish (used by Götebrgs kex amongs other companies.) mixture that amongst other things contains hazelnuts. (could be good to know if anyone with allergies feels like trying, it should however be somewhat safe to eat, my father was allergic to hazelnuts growing up and he could eat Ballerina cookies (by Göteborgs kex) without problems. Most things in Sweden are made with natural ingrediens and it was really nice to see you appreciate that! Also, "knäcke" at about 4:50 is a sort of substitute to bread. Less carbs, less calories etc :P A tip for you amazing guys = the emphasis usually goes on the LAST vowel

Ooh the polka candy..I love that stuff. As a kid my favourite ice cream was polka, so yummy.
Wafer chocolate is delicious. I can't remember if you tried Kismet in your Finnish snack videos but that's one of my favourite chocolate things ever.
I don't know if anyone ever said it, but 88 is an ice cream. Not sure how to translate it, but it's basically vanilla and chocolate with hazelnut pieces.
