Is it common for people to leave their solid gold chains at home when traveling? I wear a 21g solid 14k 22" 3.8mm Double Curb Link Chain. Think it's smart to leave this at home?
Obviously it’s plated and listed as such. The market for plated chains is high because lots of people want to buy a chain but can’t afford 5 grand for a chain.
That pretty much is the case with buying gold plated chains that are over stainless steel. Nothing wrong with that as long as vendors disclose it as that. But blatantly lying marketing it as solid gold but its plated over stainless steel or worse, brass or copper, that's just shameful. Those chains are found on Chinese-run sites like Alibaba or Temu directly, or even "shops" like GLD, Guu Shop, Jaxxon, etc when those same chains are from the same manufacturer.
Stop playing with fake chains and restock your inventory 😂

Yes, the problem with plating and base metal underneath is that they can flake over time and irritate the skin. Especially, if it's an EDW.
The only time I would agree with wearing gold plated anything would be for travel. I would never wear anything worth more than 200 outside the USA
