    Brian, thank you VERY much for this tutorial. Brilliant. That's so simple for a driver to offer, but so useful for an ethusiast to see. If only they were all like you. 🙂

    A brilliant video, I am only an enthusiast and always been a Brittania fan. I just love the 66s ( sheds ) and I have 8 models in various liveries. I also have an ‘O’ gauge one on Pre Order named Evening Star in the BR green livery, a model by DAPOL due the end of this year. This is one video I will be saving. All the best to you and thank you for giving us your time to share your experience in the 66 CAB. From Ron.

    Great information for the class 66 on train sim. I retired from British Rail when it was privatised so all the loco's in my area where class 37's with a few class 60's.

    The Slow Speed control will only control traction power and does not control braking at all, therefore if on a falling gradient you must control your train speed using the brake. Slow speed only works up to 11mph.
    GSM-r (REC) only needs to be pressed once not twice.
    Auto start Stop will restart the loco once battery volts become lower than a pre set threshold also if main res drops below a pre determined level (just above 6 bar).

      Or attempt to restart loco when one of the starter motors has stuck , like they regularly do

  • @Colonel_Blimp

    No DB on class 66? I’m surprised.

  • @nounoufriend1442
    @nounoufriend1442 Před 8 měsíci

    See there are few minor differences in the cab on freightliner 66's from the DB 66's I'm use to , is that a lock on the Q Tron ? do they still use card to download ? we always used laptop . Also even though Q Tron can hold data for up to 6 months ,in reality it's over written in few days of normal Loco usage ,as memory is very small

    I am surprised there aren't more gauges : Engine Coolant temp/ Oil pressure/ Oil temp. / Engine RPM

    • @Traindriverbrian1
      @Traindriverbrian1  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It’s in the computer above the drivers head
      All that information is available but isn’t needed for general running

      @@Traindriverbrian1 Ah , ok, thanks :) I really like the style of these Class 66's. If I were rich enough to start a short line, I would certainly buy a few of them.

    • @Traindriverbrian1
      @Traindriverbrian1  Před 4 měsíci

      No the 70’s do but to save costs was never specified it and all uk locos are based off that initial design

  • @jamessweeney1743
    @jamessweeney1743 Před 7 měsíci

    You are confusing the main res ( always 7bar) with the brake pipe, quite shocking! Just for future reference the main res is the yellow pipe each end of the locomotive for wagons with pneumatic doors and the brake pipe is the red one 😂. Hit me up if you need any more information

    • @Traindriverbrian1
      @Traindriverbrian1  Před 7 měsíci

      I know but once I’d filmed it I didn’t redo it

    • @Traindriverbrian1
      @Traindriverbrian1  Před 7 měsíci

      Did I say main res was red? God I must have been tired

    • @jamessweeney1743
      @jamessweeney1743 Před 7 měsíci +1

      You say “ the main res pipe is at 7 bar as the brakes are applied “ one of many inaccurate statements.
