- Sleep sweetly in your humble graves,
Sleep, martyrs of a fallen cause!-
Though yet no marble column craves
The pilgrim here to pause.
In seeds of laurels in the earth,
The garlands of your fame are sown;
And, somewhere, waiting for its birth,
The shaft is in the stone.
Meanwhile, your sisters for the years
Which hold in trust your storied tombs,
Bring all they now can give you-tears,
And these memorial blooms.
Small tributes, but your shades will smile
As proudly on these wreaths to-day,
As when some cannon-moulded pile
Shall overlook this Bay.
Stoop, angels, hither from the skies!
There is no holier spot of ground,
Than where defeated valor lies
By mourning beauty crowned.
Lyrics: Henry Timrod, Ode (1866)
Music: Suno AI
These are original Southern or Pro-Southern poems with music created by AI for both entertainment and to inspire musicians to think creatively about how they could use 19th century poetry to make modern music.
Beautiful and wonderful. These men gave all to try to keep us free. Never forget them.
I love my Dixie land my her flags forever fly
Sounds like the Celtic Woman. It's a beautiful poem.
Thank you for bringing new life to these treasures!
God bless the Confederacy’s soldiers one day I will have the South again
Gone but not forgotten
Henry Timrod was a truly magnificent poet.
Heroes. Looks like Shelbyville?
Charleston. The poem is dedicated to this monument.
The more you use AI the more you advance the cause of tyranny.
Yeah I listened to the first few, but just skip over most of them now. Seems like a silly use of their time
