  • In this four-part series, dive into the world of GD&T with Jason as he explores the most common errors that we see in implementing GD&T on engineering prints, and learn practical solutions to avoiding these pitfalls.
*We'll be unveiling each part of our in-depth series weekly. Make sure to follow us to stay updated with each release!*
In part 4 of this series, Jason addresses the misuse of the MMC (Maximum Material Condition) modifier by looking at examples of it being applied to both threaded features and interference fit features.

So professional! not only about the GD&T, but also about the thread measurement

Press fits never crossed my mind as not needing to use MMC since they will never have a clearance available.

Love the explanation for the through holes and press fits. Here comes the but.... But most threads shouldn't get material modifiers. Most are tapered along the pitch diameter and as such self centre. Hence material (or size) of the pitch diameter doesn't come in to play for position.

Thanks for the comment! You're correct, there are a lot of thread types out there and we should be careful of tapered threads such as BSPT and NPT. However a lot of industries utilize parallel threads and in this case their entire industry might never even know about tapered pipe threads. Nonetheless i always love seeing comments from all sorts of perspectives! Thanks again.

I am french canadian so English is not my first language, I'm sorry I'm having a hard time understanding an expression used a lot in this video "Position air", "Position error", "position..."? He uses it throughout the video but to know what I mean listen to 12:24. Thanks for clarifying this :)

      position error means tolerance zone

Sorry for the confusion! "position error" is just refering to the deviation in position of the feature within the tolerance zone.
