    This is pretty much a tweeter comparison. The woofers are the same, JBL and Infinity are both owned by Harmon International (which is now owned by samsung) and has been known for years to just rebadge products and release them under both names. Look at all the specs, same frequency response and range, same mounting depth, same everything for the woofers, because they are the same. only difference in the dust cap and polypropylene color. The only real difference is the tweeters, while both are 3/4" edge driven, the JBL are a silk dome and the infinity are a textile dome. Which is where the slight difference in the crossovers come into play. While both use a very similar crossover point between the woofer and tweeter, the Jbl silk dome allows it to produce a slightly lower frequency range aiding in the transition between the woofer and tweeter. The JBL will be more "warm" and the Infinity will give a sharper response to the ear.

      Almost true but while specs are extremely important. Look at the shape of the cones. They’re going to move air vastly differently. As well as their magnet size. As well as their achievable coil depth.. so keep in mind specs are important. But the way they achieve it are very different. And can sound quite different. On top of this tidbit of info I’m leaving you.. over mic even.. they sounded quite different. Not saying you’re wrong. They have the same parent company but they make them similarly but the build makes the speaker. Not the specs. Trust me, I work in this line of work on the side and specs truly can leave you confused if that’s what you base it on.

    Reference had clearly more of mid bass.
    Reference series on four speakers with a good head unit doesn't need an amp for a clear and crisp sound

    • @tridelv702
      @tridelv702  Před 2 lety +2

      For me personally I have a kenwood dmx706s exceleon. I believe it's around 22 watts RMS per channel, I went from that to an alpine power pack 45 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms, still wasn't enough now I have the NVX 800 watt that does 135 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms and that was perfect for me. It brought all the speakers I have owned to their full potential 🙏🏾
      I have kappas now but tbh I almost prefer the references may sound strange to say but I loved the references 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @chetia666
      @chetia666 Před 2 lety

      @@tridelv702 Stock speakers have that, in and around that range but most of the components are @ 4 ohms load with around 70-90 RMS but even then the RMS doesn't count all.
      For a 135 W RMS/channel, if its installed in four ways then even a decent pioneer head unit wont suffice, an an amp with atleast 150 W/channel will need to power those speakers.

    • @chetia666
      @chetia666 Před 2 lety

    • @tridelv702
      @tridelv702  Před 2 lety

      @chetia666 yea I was going to say it's does 200 w per channel at 2 ohms and the references are rated 3 ohms (idk the math of that lol) but they definitely got enough power. My next set is going to be the hertz mpk 163.3 pro 3 ways with the stereo integrity SIQ 200.4 class A/B amp I can't wait 🙏🏾

    • @chetia666
      @chetia666 Před 2 lety

      @@tridelv702 stereo integrity 200.4 amp will cost around 100k in here (in local currency) and not sure whether if it's even available in here. It's kind of a mono block where one can run speakers with multiple ohm load.
      This amp will run one sub of around 400 RMS @ 4 ohms and two components of 200 RMS @ 4 ohms or a sub of 800 RMS and 400 RMS speakers at 2 ohms resistance or may be 2 single coil subs of 800 RMS each.
      Very few component speakers are over 100 RMS at 3 or 4 ohms.

  • @easyrider76
    @easyrider76 Před 10 měsíci +1

    I can't decide between these two speakers, I would take either the Alpine S2 S65C or the JBL GTO 609C for the car door. Of course, it would be connected to a Hifonix amplifier with a power of 4x135Watt/RMS with 4 Ohm OR 4x225Watt/RMS with 2 Ohm. Then I would need 4" speakers for the dashboard, which I would have to choose from is the Alpine S S40 (S2 S40) or the JBL Club4020, because I can't get anything else from JBL here in Europe. Now it's important that the speakers don't have that pounchi bass but that deep soft bass and the tweeters are not that important because those prominent trebles are really annoying to me and the middle tone is more important to me.I now have Hertz DSK170.3 speakers in my door and I'm not happy with them at all the bass is totally bad that strange pouncy bass, even though I have the doors insulated with Sound Deadener and foam specifically for car sound systems.

    • @easyrider76
      @easyrider76 Před 7 měsíci

      In the end I chose the Alpine S2 S65C but I haven't bought them yet, I bought the first Alpine S2 S40 for the dash and now it's much better than before with only the tweeters in the dash and the 6.5" in the door. Now I'll get these Alpine S2 s65Cs over the winter and I'll probably have to change the head unit as this Pioneer is kind of weird and I'd buy an Alpine or Kenwood or maybe a Sony.@nestooraguirre

    I hate these type of reviews...this is a shit review that doesnt tell me much. Whats worse is these are 2 almost identical speakers. Playing music on youtube, my phone can not play well enough to distinguish different sounds.
    The best would be to run a distortion test using an RTA and something like REW, so we can actually get an idea of not only what you think but see the frequency response of each speaker
