  • This is used on some ford and GM alternator and power steering pulley's that have the special flange on them. The retaining ring is way too loose on this unit even though it seems well machined.

I have the OTC puller that looks the same. I've had it for over 30 years and it's been used alot. Way better made then the new knock offs.

I found an OTC puller in a tool box I picked up at an estate sale, had to ask on Garage Journal what it was. Thanks for the demo. The OTC looks nearly identical

Getting a pulley OFF is pretty easy with these types of kits, but getting it back on can be a real bitch. This kit actually looks a little better than the cheap-cheap ones on Amazon which are crap.

I would go to an exhaust shop, find tubing cutoff slightly smaller, and have them expand it to suit your tolerance requirement. Nice review.

They're all like that.... when pressure is on the assembly..it binds and pulls.... I bought 3 of the sets and they were all exactly the same... leaving me to come to the determination that they're designed that way....🖐
They all look like that until they are actually pulling a pulley....I have the OEM Tools...OTC...and Kool Tools versions....

I've never liked that style of puller. I lucked out and bought some snap on pullers and installers cheap from a senior tech when he retired. Much easier to use than the clamshell and ring design. I bought a Performance Tool gearless brake pad spreader last Saturday for some 4 piston calipers since I forgot to bring my otc spreaders home. I intended to keep the tool at home for future use, but the quality was very poor. I returned it to O'reilly the next day.

if you're going to demo the tool correctly, please take the time to find a suitable pulley to demo it on. The advantage that style of pulley puller offers is its lower profile for use in cramped engine compartments. The old US made ones from OTC and tool trucks were much better made than this example. this film is not up to your usual quality level of detail.
