Thanks for the review. I've had the game for years (Ravensburger version) and love it. I taught it to a new player just this week-end. They had so much fun we played it more than once. Interestingly, I feel the other way about the graphical revamp: I love the idea of it, but I find that the new art, while more vibrant, is more muddled. The old art was more utilitarian but everything you needed to see stood out clearly (especially on the cards). Also, bigger cards simply means the game potentially takes more space. The tiles already take a fair amount of space on the table. So I don't necessarily want a bigger card market area. Same for the box size (though I can't tell if it is bigger or not). That said, I'm sure the game will be as enjoyable for players regardless of the edition.
Hi Wendy, Anna here. Thanks for your thoughts, I can totally understand them and see where you are coming from. I always find it good to see that everyone values different things and therefore have different opinions. I agree that the old version has a more 'clean Euro' look which makes it less muddled. That's why I really look at the iconography with these kind 'gateway games': I find it especially important that the icons and text are clear and non-ambigious. If that is the case (like with this version) I am more forgiving of busier artwork.
Where can we get the new version?
Where and when can you purchase this new version of the game?
when is this version coming to canada?
Thanks for the video. I was curious about the differences. I'm good with the old version for now.
Where can you get this version?
i kinda like the old version better. like the small cards and the art on the boards. so no need to upgrade if you have the old stuff.
Great video, thanks Anna!😄
Best explanations of El dorado i have ever watched!
Anybody know if this version will have an english version?
It is the english version. It has cards in english and nordic languages. At least my version does. Same with the manual(s)
Ah, this was dutch version. Sorry. Well, my point still stands, I have the new version in english (and danish) from Lautapelit
Hi Paul! Anna here! On the 00:42 mark I make a little joke regarding this question. This version was specifically made as a regional language version for a lot of different countries therefore a lot of different publishers as Ravensburger has the German and English market rights. There are versions like the Lautapelit (Danish) version that also has English in it. Mine is Dutch and has not.
@@Budgetspelen Ah, that makes sense! Thanks for the reply!
I could not find in the rulebook if you are allowed to look back in your discard pile which cards you have already played and which not. I don't know what is better or more fair.
Typically deck builders allow this
The new art is quite amazing!
Too bad we couldn't find that version anywhere but North of Europe and South America :((
This isnt a new version at all, this is just the dutch version. I am dutch and this version isnt available in enlgish…
THANK YOU ☺️ 😊 AND THANK YOU ‼️‼️‼️‼️
the art is beautiful. Call me crazy but I liked the size of the cards from other version.
Yeah the tiny cards are such a joy. This version looks nice but I’m not seeing any changes that would make me want to jump ship to this one. Love the original though!
@@Moxbox99 same for me!
Anna, great to see you again! Hope everything is well on your side of the ocean!
Thanks Christopher! Looking good over here, coordinating the aftercare for my hospital’s corona patients and yesterday the last one left the hospital, woohoo! Hope everything is good on your side of the pond as well! Anna
Yeah, I regret selling my old copy. The tiles already occupy a lot of space and bigger cards isn't a good idea after all =S. Also, I think the old cards were easier to understand, the icons stood out better.
Why is the Dutch version so much more beautiful...art wise? Compared to the lousey'ish US versions? ...interesting ;)
The CON, seriously.
The third expansion isn’t even out yet for the original version and they already have a new edition with new art? Good grief.
Hi Menefreghista, Anna here. it is the regional version. Ravensburger (publisher original game) only has the license for the German and English version/distribution and did not want to make regional versions. So multiple smaller regional publishers worked together on this version.
Budgetspelen cool. Thanks for the info. I do love Dutrait’s art. Wish he did the Ravensburger Edition.
Really we are trying to turn a game into a political issue have never played this game but think it looks good and I don't care if the cartoon characters are white black yellow pink or blue I just want to play the game for fun with friends and family.
Why a review of an old game that's already been reviewed on this channel?
I appreciate your comment on the lack of diversity given the setting and that the game designers could have made more inclusive and sensitive decisions.
Same here. Thanks for the refreshing review. Also, I like the camerawork.
Thanks for telling me this. It can be such a polarizing topic that even though you try to share your opinion as non-polarizing as possible, you will still get a lot of hate. So I also applaud the both of you for sharing this with me in such a public way. You rock! Anna.
lmaoo
So sad
At Eight min twenty I'm out. So sick of that woke nonsense. Words lady, just words. Even mentioning this carp gets a thumbs down from me.
In the word she got hung up on was the card that said native. It's probably historically accurate given the era that this takes place in.
I like bigger cards, but I don't know if this is really worth it. Also, no one really cares about the "colour" of the characters in the game. No one involved in the making of this game is racist.
I care about the color. Just because someone isn’t “racist” doesn’t mean they don’t
perpetuate ignorance. History books may be written by “non-racist” people, but they still exclude people of color. Your comment is hurtful, but good because it reminds people of color that ignorance and racism is still prevalent.
@@Poiuytrew.Q wow, get over yourself. Colour is one of the most important things in your life. It's sad.
Alaena A There will be no satisfaction found with your side. There is female representation in here and now that is not good enough. Your side can't even agree on what should be the diversity found in this game if you all were to have complete input. And quit calling people who don't drink your kool-aid "racist". This school yard tactic ensures that no one will even listen to what you have to say. You don't combat racism by finding a new group to hate.
@@Poiuytrew.Q Sooooo, following your logic, if someone states they see no racism where you think there is racism, that person with whom you disagree is automatically a racist. How nice for you never having to think past your own solidified opinions.
Sad.
"No one involved in making this game is racist" How do you know? Do you know them all personally? A very bizarre assumption!
