You could say the same for the drummer. :-) Mick Tucker, Andy Scott... No one mentions them when talking about 70's greats... but then, one can say that for a lot of great musos of that era, or any era, for that matter....
This is easily their best live work for me. They were peaking here and jettisoned their 'bubble-gum-pop' genre for sure. And while the band was essentially of 'glam-rock' genre, for me I always like them as they performed here. The Sweet were massive over here in New Zealand in the '70s. I was aged 10 in 1973 and I always turned up the volume on my parents smaller valve radio was loud as it could go before distorting speaker, performance and I have never forgotten all of their major hits on those radio waves including; 'Gimme me dat ding', 'Yakety yak', 'Co-Co', 'Alexander Graham Bell', 'Poppa Joe', 'Little Willy', 'Wig-wam bam', 'Blockbuster', 'Ballroom Blitz' (incidentally named after a 1973 performance at the Palace Theatre and Grand Hall in Kilmarnock ended in the band being bottled off stage; the disorder was attributed by some (including Steve Priest) to the Sweet's lipstick and eye-shadow look, and by others to the audience being unfamiliar with the concert set (the 1999 CD release Live at the Rainbow 1973 documents a live show from this period), 'Fox on the run', and finally 'Love is like oxygen'. But back to this #7 track from their live album 'Strung Up' - I believe it is their best live work eva. The whole album just rocks - all 20 tracks! Here's the url for it on U-toob: czcams.com/video/wz0VZDSJ8VA/video.html
Не могу припомнить какой был год, наверное 1982 что-ли, мне попалась гибкая пластинка с песней Done Me Wrong All Right и мне она очень понравилась - с того дня и по сей день я слушаю и люблю рок в любом его виде.
The guitar playing and drumming is fantastic. Strung Up is just as good live record as Live At Leeds with The Who. But I pity the girls at the concert if they came to hear Funny Funny!
Would easily have been to much for me back then overpowering so to say although I always loved Andy’s virtuous guitar play nowadays I‘m just dumbstruck and gobsmacked!! Bloody brilliant!!
@punkbloater Thanks for watching, live and unedited portion of this album was reissued on CD under " Sweet Live at Rainbow" name. You easily can find it on internet .
I had this album Great, even not really Made in japan or Live at Leeds but have never heard Andy Scott so great before. Even if I saw them 3 times live . Wonder why this album is not so often talked about. More talk about FA and Des, Boulevard.
Had this album on tape, listen to it constantly back then, tape got lost through time... Trying to get hold of it on CD, seems impossible... quest continues.. ;) Thanks for upping this!
Survivant.
Still considered a Glam pop band at this point But when they played live they showed the more Hard Rock band they wanted to be & later became! Wait..they did an 8 min jam in front of pop fans?
@19vital63 Yepp, I found it and got it! I have now collected all the songs from that album and put them back in the right order, when wife and kids are out I rock like the superstar I am! :D
Possibly! The Sweet and DP had very tight connection in past: Ian Gillan sing in Wainwright's Gentlemen band and Ritchie Blackmore played guitar with the Sweet gig...
Its really hard to get a hold of a lot of the Album Version tracks from this band. Love Is Like Oxygen is one good example but you can hear the Full Versions on The Legacy a Internet Station I run. iTunes click Radio>Classic Rock>Type L and look for The Legacy or head to thelegacyradio_._tk (remove the _'s) sorry had to use _s to post this great station as youtube don't allow direct links.
My favorite, after all these years is "A distinct lack of ancient". A B side of some Chinn/Chapman lollypop crap. These guys had the skill and the music. True artists. You don't hear it nowadays.
Actually, "A Distinct Lack Of Ancient" was the B-Side to one of their own compositions "Fever Of Love",not a Chinn & Chapman song, love that song too, some amazing guitaring from Andy,& an instrumental,& another side to Sweet, from a bubblegum band,to almost prog, around the time Brian left,or was he pushed?
the worlds most underrated guitarist.
You could say the same for the drummer. :-) Mick Tucker, Andy Scott... No one mentions them when talking about 70's greats... but then, one can say that for a lot of great musos of that era, or any era, for that matter....
GREAT GUITAR PLAYER ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Overated arse
Sweet was such a f****ng under rated rock band it's insane.
who got turned on to Hard Rock because of Sweet?
Absolute Weltklasse !! Andy Scott, the greatest.
Same feelin' as on Made in Japan/Deep Purple. Sweet was great.
Andy Scott (is) sorely UNDERRATED !
Best lead guitar I have ever heard from Andy Scott. Who knew what he could do with a delay pedal? This shit sounds like Hawkwind. Truly psychedelic.
Up the Hawks!!!!
That album is still as good as ever... The band is on fire here..
BRILLIANT...Sweet4ever and ever. AMEN.
Priest the bass beast

Thrashiest tune of sweet. Hands down(purple and zep vibes)

Possibly! The Sweet and DP had very tight connection in past: Ian Gillan sing in Wainwright's Gentlemen band and Ritchie Blackmore played guitar with the Sweet gig...
Out Purlpling Deep Purple
With stealing the bassline of "Hard lovin`Man" sped down?
Hardly..... czcams.com/video/ziISNxMCC3M/video.html
Goose pimples !!!!! XXXXX
@fritsone Good choice for first LP! ;)
andy has the whole concert footage from the bbc and wont release it!!!!!!!!!!!!
What? Is that true!?
Mick Nordström, i doubt it - Other sources say the BBC "lost" the remaining footage - " Hellraiser" was the only survivor.
+Cl4rendon Not only ``Hellraiser`` was `saved` also ``Your Not Wrong For Loving Me``!!!!!!

sweet ihre hit singels sind stark aber ihre Lp STÜCKE sind Rockkunst
Chapman and chinn made a large sum of money in publishing royalties.
@punkbloater my first LP
Get them off that bubblegum crap and theres a good solid rock band there
Lemmy once said that a guitar solo should not be longer than it takes to open a bottle of beer. I think he was right.
