  • Recycle copper into a lawn & garden sculptures. This is a simple to do sculpture. This one sculpture will give you ideas for expanding on this design. There is nothing difficult about this piece, although it does require brazing.
This video builds upon my CZcams videos for making circles. Using this concept you can build larger sculptures than the one shown in this video.

My husbands a plumber, I might just pinch some of his copper pipes and have a go, thanks for a lovely tutorial :)

The Plumber's Wife: You should be able to grab lots of fun pieces that you can create with. Also, do a search for copper tubing lamps. I've been wanting to try some of these. Your husband should have lots of copper pipe and fittings. Have fun!

Cool George! Sort of like a giant bubble wand... also, great idea, using the inserted rods when forming the big circle. Thanks.

Geo-another great video and sculpture. Really practical bucket of concrete to use as a tapered form maker. I have struggled with how to do this. thanks!

I really enjoy watching you make all of your amazing items. I'm new to this and you give me inspiration by making things look so simple. I can't wait to start making some larger scale copper sculptures. I have just started on an small Arum Lily style water feature, fingers crossed it will go ok! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

Thanks for the comment. I like to remind myself that a large sculpture is made up of a series of smaller sculptures. It helps me from becoming overwhelmed.
Your Arum Lily fountain sounds intriguing.

Good stuff George. Ain't copper fun??? ... Keep at it, we don't get old by doing copper, we get old if we stop doing copper!!

David, you're right about copper. Because of its malleability, it offers so many avenues for self expression. And of course, the multitude of pieces that are functional.

Thanks. For this outdoor piece I would just let it weather.
It could be wire brushed it and then apply a clear protective coating. I'd suggest an automotive clear coating. Most of the consumer brands would last maybe a year. A professional quality clear coating will last about three years.
There are all kinds of clear coats out there. I'm sure some of these products are mostly hype. You'll probably have to do some research and check reviews. Let me know how it works out.
