the origin of the song was on the british channel "yogscast" in a minecraft gameplay where one of the two players played with a character skin of a dwarf, he then jokingly sang "i'm a dwarf and im digging a hole diggy diggy hole" later it became a remix from a fan and then the yogscast made and official song, which this song is based upon.

If you watch the creation timeline of this song it’s a great video showing the way it come along. It’s so fun watching it morph through the time.

I was today years old when I heard this song for the first time. My taste in player characters is split between berzerkers and dwarves.
I know for a fact I'm gonna be hearing this song for all my time shovelling my driveway.

Great reaction and review. And if you liked this song I can definitely recommend "WIND ROSE - Together We Rise". A more serious song but also with a lot of fantasy. One of my favorites from Wind Rose.

Never seen anyone react to this who didn't laugh, smile, and completely enjoy the ridiculousness of just... being a dwarf. Digging a hole.
Edit: I'm a Tolkien fan (my nic should give that one away!) so this song resonates with me on that level (especially as the original version was done by Yogscast, a British Minecraft gaming group), but it so easily fits with Warcraft dwarves, Warhammer, D&D... any dwarves from any media. Find a nice mountain, dig out a home, then go digging some more to find metals and gems and valuables to craft... just for the absolute joy of creating and making something. "We can never dig too deep" does kinda... age badly for Tolkien Dwarves, though, lol

That was my thought. It really feels like they sang this in Moria just before they hit a Balrog.

@@thomasriddle7005 Hahaha yeah. The great thing about simple songs like that too, is that they make excellent work songs. The simpler the lyrics the better, because they become ear worms. That way people can keep time while working.

😂 i thought you guys would like it. I took my 7yo to see them in NC the other night. He loved them. When i was military and played D&D i always played a Dwarf. And my colleagues tried having me memorize Gimli's lines and go as a Dwarf for halloween. I also have multiple Dwarves in WoW as well.
For a follow on suggestion to Diggy Diggy Hole, you should check out Drunken Dwarves and then Army of Stone.

about all of their music is dwarven based....

This version is a (great) cover of a song that grew out of a Yogscast Minecraft gameplay video as noted by HawkWard below.
I originally knew the song from Yogscast because my kids are Minecrafters (and the whole family are D&D players!), but the cover turned me on to Wind Rose too and they are a great band with several albums of very cool songs of their own.
A video about the development of the song can be found at czcams.com/video/sI_PxGu7nZk/video.html&t
The 'official' original song video by Yogscast can be found at czcams.com/video/ytWz0qVvBZ0/video.html

I feel like there should be two factions of dwarves one of the Hi-ho it's off to work we go variety and the I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole, diggy diggy hole variety. In my head cannon they're bitter rivals who compete at digging holes and seeing who can dig the deeper.

You should try listening to a band called clamavi de profundis they cover songs from Tolkien's books and write their own songs as if they are written and performed by dwarves. And the band that helped me discover the genre of Dwarven music
The name means "Out of the depths I cry" in Latin which is quite fitting for Dwarves

There is a video that traces the entire history of where “diggy diggy hole” came from. It all started on a Minecraft Voice chat with guys talking about what do dwarves sing about? And one guy says “diggy diggy hole!” That got turned into a Minecraft music video of a bunch of dwarves singing “I am a dwarf and I dig in a hole, diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole” then a CZcams group called Yogcast created an EPIC animated music video that fleshed out all the lyrics and horns and flutes to make “diggy diggy hole” a song to remember. Last but not least Wind Rose made a metal remake of yogcasts music and lyrics to finally create what you just watched.

They are my favorite metal band of all time. I love their ancient European fantasy worldview. I am in my fifties and recall numerous novels I read as a child. My favorite was a dark fantasy by British author Tanith Lee. I read it in middle school.
Thanks for the reaction. From Japan with love.
