Doctor Who: Season 17 (Music Suite)

- At long last, another Doctor Who music suite! A comprehensive suite of music making up the 5 stories from Doctor Who, Season 17. Shada is omitted as it has its own dedicated suite elsewhere on my channel.
Season 17 has its fair share of moments in Doctor Who production history, be it the first Doctor Who serial to feature footage filmed on location in a foreign country or a severe lack of budget that an entire episode had to make do with no music. It also marked the ending of Graham Williams' tenure as Producer and would see Douglas Adams' only season in the chair of Script Editor.
It was also the final season to use the Delia Derbyshire arrangement of the series theme, the Fourth Doctor credits designed by Bernard Lodge and Tom Baker's signature scarf. Then-Production unit manager John Nathan-Turner would take over from Williams and see the show through to its original run in 1989 with various script editors coming and going over the years.
Of the five stories, all were composed by regular composer Dudley Simpson. This would be his last time composing for the show as he was dismissed by John Nathan-Turner the following year looking to give the whole show a complete revamp. During the production of The Leisure Hive, Turner asked Peter Howell and Paddy Kingsland to do incidental music demos of a scene at the beginning of part two of The Horns of Nimon. Only Howell's demos are known to survive and are included here for completeness' sake.

The City Of Death soundtrack is probably the best Doctor Who score. And I am counting EVERY era
6:07 - the City of Death sweet spot! Thanks for uploading 👍😊
That piece of music is so romantic!
The xylophone at 48:00 is brilliant!
The time and effort you put into these is so much appreciated. This is perfect background music for my working day, and occasionally I am jolted to attention by something really special. The Paris music is glorious, and the Howell/Nimon stuff is very arresting and powerful. Thank you for these. Keep em coming!
The feedback is always appreciated. Keeps me motivated to do these.
Another brilliant hour of music - thanks so much, I know these things take a ton of work!
I’m only sorry for the long wait my guy

Shada deez nuts
@@DanTheMan2150ADshadon't do that, it'll blow the place up...
Those Peter Howell Demos are great. Where did you find them?
You can hear them synced to the episodes on the Horns of Nimon DVD or isolated on the Doctor Who at the Radiophonic Workshop Volume 2 CD release
Which season is going to be next / what's the lineup looking like?
will there ever be a season 3 music suite or is it too hard due to the amount of missing episodes
There will be, its literally just a matter of me putting it all together.
@@DanTheMan2150AD glad to hear
Wait, the Destiny of the Daleks Suite has more music than in the actual broadcast story? Where is this from?
We know Simpson did compose a whole lot more music for Destiny (just looking at the PasB notes shows this) but director Ken Grieve decided not to use it. I doubt Simpson’s original music tapes for Destiny would exist (unless more tapes have been found) so where is the music in the suite from? Is it newly recorded material for The Season 17 Collection set? Simpson’s original music sheets would probably exist so recreating it wouldn’t be too hard?
New material from the Blu-ray
@@DanTheMan2150AD Is it from the 5:1 mix? Newly recovered material?
5.1, re-recorded.
