congrats on 10k!
congrats guys i just came across ur channel for the fpv camera set up on rcs! I already love your guys channel!!! I am very curious of where to get a similar remote to the ones you guys are using in this video
You guys should 3D print some little antenna with mirrors on the ends that you can mount to the camera. If it's positioned right it'll always be in the cameras FOV and you'll be able to see behind you.
You look so much like Alex from flite test!
OMG! THE SHOP TOO!!
Alex is way better looking though
Love it guys! Now explore Edgewater Airpark with it and find some sweet paths for crawling. Oh, and bring an extra one for me!
Up the dirt pile... Geeze. You're in crawlers and avoided the dirt pile. That woduld have been top priority . Lol
Figure out how to rig up a cockpit with a Logitech G27 steering wheel pedal set.
ryan lemons naw man... lame
Atleast an fpv headset with a steering wheel attached to a transmitter
I am doing this....so much fun
You know Alex is immersed when he calls a small weed a huge bush. But that’s a good thing and just goes to show how far you can go in hobbies like these and just how expansive and infinite the hobby is
Wow I actually just did this on my 1/16 crawler but I used a cheap $10 gyro on the up/down tilt. It actually helped a lot with making the video more stable.
How about combining this with FPV flight? Build a cargo plane with a rear ramp that can carry one (or two) of these crawlers and do some sort of mission with them?
Arakarth yes that would be amazing
Yes
Your idea became a reality 9 months later mate! It's on the FlightTest channel :D
Awesome idea guys. I like the "inside" setup, even if you have to take out a significant chunk of the body. Just need some play / vibration reduction and it's golden.
Very awesome! Must get for my snow plow set up .. .. .. 👍🙌🏼
Absolutely awesome! You guys inspire!
Thrilled to see this! Have had the idea for a few years of something similar, but having the camera rigged to an actual VR headset the moves with the drivers head movements giving the real sense of driving a tiny vehicle.
Looks like good clean fun.
Nice tilt and pan. Try rocky sand bars near streams and rivers. The rounded rocks are alot of fun to craw on.
Soooo cool! I need to get a trail truck! Never stop the rc!
got to do some boats when you get to the golf course!!! some nice little ponds there...
Yeah you did it pan and tilt!!!
I love this idea, I put the dji ocusync air system on a RC excavator. The picture was amazing through the RE goggles, and the model already has a 360 degree slew function with the option to lift yourself up with the boom/dipper to look up. My kids love it. 👍🏻
Love it !!!!
Austin's rig looks like one of those Google cars. LOL
*Dance the Skies*
I like the lower angle better! Great video!
Nice guys! Very cool
nice job,I've been thinking about goin to the pan tilt set on mine
gimbal stabilized (gopro) fpv crawling, please =)
I'd actually like to see you guys mount a full on fpv expedition, like of the dirt pile or maybe another vertical challenge you aren't as familiar with. Take an fpv fixed wing with a downward facing camera to get an "areal survey", maybe limit yourselves in this step. Take one flyby, triggering the camera by remote and for only 5 seconds. Use two still frames from the camera to do a sterioscopic assessment of the terrain, then do a second flyby a bit closer for more detail on the planned route. Once planning is done, run the route pure fpv with your crawlers, see if you can make it there and back.
2018! Wow! I want to make a similar build, but add some type of hydraulics that can flip the car back over if you get stuck.
It's a load of fun in drift cars. But you can set your camera to a servo and gyro for your counter steer. The camera will turn when you steer following the wheels. It's a big rush. Just like mini quads. Bring it to the light :) keep it up guys
A DJI Mavic pro camera gimbal setup will smooth out your experience, the problem their is they can get pricey but that is what we would need to get a stable image also head tracking is would be a way better choice then a big servo rig to look left, right, up and down. The video is great👍🏼 I'm inspired.
Great video guys
LOVE IT, Great video. I just recently picked up a Gen 7 sport and I was considering Buying a FPV camera, although I look at this and see how much fun it is with pan and tilt, But I don't really want to invest in a new Receiver / Remote
I really like the FPV crawler idea. I think I'll try this on my new JEEP. thanks
good job 😀👍..... I would love to have that on my cars 😉✌
Cool vid.👍💡
You all should connect the pan of the fpv to the steering of the vehicle!
Super squishy rubber bumpers around the mount screws will help with the road vibrations.
Such a cool hobby and channel cheers
Cool stuff! U guys r some mad scientists! Lol
I'm sure you've perfected this by now for camera bounce..soft mount from camera to the vehicle, go fast enough for the frequency of tires and terrain to smooth it out or different suspension. 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻✌🏻
nice ! I need this for filming my jeep lol
If your going to be using the plane controllers for the cameras, just add a jack in the box/periscope option for the camera rig.
Flip a switch and the camera rises out of the car for better view, flip it again for the stealth mode.
Do Long Range Trucks!!Linear antennas are better for ground pounders. Also, 1.2ghz is much better. Another thing, solid mount your camera set up to the chassis of the truck. Sounds backwards, but it works much better. Let the suspension do its job. And a 433 control is awesome. The crossfire is great too.
There are some ICE CAVES at Eagle lake CA. That those would be fun to have I thought that I would fly a full speed OWL into it and look around. Great video. JohnnyDRC
As soon as they talk about not getting stuck, they get stuck. Ya jinxed yourselves
A dji view feed would be awesome
I use velcro to attach my fpv cameras, it reduces jello effect quite nicely
8:16 "ur gonna lern stuff evry tiam u do hobby stuff"
Excellent project and video. It really does make it feel like you are in the truck in 5 foot tall grass, taking all those bumps. It would be good to try with a nice camera stabilizer system to smooth out the smaller bumps.
Make a small farm style scale wagon with a couple of hay bails and sign saying what you want and parade it while attached to your fpv trucks bumper hitch
see if you can trim a race track on the grass field and have some FPV racing! Obviously also add a runway for the planes to take off and landing, that would be sick!
Hey, guys, the guy from RCLifeOn put FPV and a box of sweeties into a rc car. So, when he got near people he opened the box to give it to people. You know? (Sorry for my poor English.) Anyway, I think it would be a great idea. 😊
That’s pretty good! I’m kicking around the idea of putting a speaker on it with a sign that says “bust out your best dance move” or something like that. Haha
Drive On Great idea! 😂😂😂😂😂
MC's Creations RC life on did a great video on that you should watch it.
Miles M I did! 😊
Mix the pan with steering. It turns the camera as you turn to see around corners. Headtracking can be dope but put it on a switch to use only when you want.... sore neck for days
sick
Having looked at your earlier FPV drive I think the tilt function and the tower height is creating a certain 'slack' in the system which is emphasising ground vibrations in the FPV.
I'd probably make do with the pan function alone as even the best trucks don't damp out all the vibrations/jitters.
That said, isn't the perspective different that low to the ground? Just using a mobius on the bonnet/hood of a truck makes weeds look more like trees. Just about to FPV my toy truck but it will be a much more basic rig to start off with. This video has given me some ideas for later mods so thanks
yea we def have a lot of ideas for v 2:)
When are we going to see some foam board bodies being made? I imagine them having some tricky things like air brakes that pop out or something fun. Maybe a spoiler that goes up and down?
But mostly let's see you dude make some sweet bodies out of foam board!
try to connect it to a head tracker and fpv goggles...more fun and you can keep your normal radio for cars ;-) and keep going with the good work :-)
I have placed a 2 axis stabilized gimbal for a quad copter, upside down, and programmed it in reverse (upside down). it works, but I still need to set up a camera system. its a project, I need to get back at it.

I feel like you need a car that's big enough to hide the cameras completely inside. Make a little scale model dashboard on the computer, print it on some a4 and cut it to fit. It'd be cool if you got head-tracking on the pan/tilt system as well. That'd be really immersive!
super top
I love your videos and i think you should do more crawling videos and adventures
Disappointed you guys didn't hook it up with head tracking fpv goggles
ryan lemons from looking around like usual ... ?
CQG Shea there's a couple of lame people on here who don't get it. I say combine this with head tracking and wheel and pedal system. I think rcsparks does it without the head tracking.
Great stuff dudes. Any thoughts on using digital hi def for the FPV stuff?
LOVE IT!!! take them to a park with paths and lots of nature it will look sooooo cool on video XD btw will you guys be releasing a gimbal kit, i am currently running a connex prosight HD (highly recommend it for HD FPV) and gimbaling it would be NEXT LEVEL
I had this idea to build an AWD RC Truck. By this I mean each wheel has its own motor that can be engaged or disengaged as needed. The idea was to be like a real deal rock crawler but, with the ability to drive at high speed as well.
It you dont need scale get a summit it's a jack of all trades
next step is a sound kit that will let you talk back and forth with people while you are out exploring
Nice video! @DriveOn, how about putting some old-style heli gyros on the pan/tilt to get the image stabilized? I know some guys did that on steering, but it should work on pan tilt also? I know its limited space and all...but you will solve that I guess. ;)
Try this with a head tracker! It's like VR!
What happened to doing a glider tow with one of your bigger trucks?
you should get a small camera dampener and gimbal with a view in the middle of yours and austin's. I think that could really help the video stability.
Great idea! I love the pan/tilt, but I have a question.
Would it be possible to use 2 cams, or one with a splitter that would get 2 images. If it could be displayed as a stereoscope image in the headset.
This would give you real 3D display and better depth perception.
It's an idea I've wanted to try, but don't have the resources you do.
This could make the fpv in a plane or car full on 3D with pan an tilt. Think open cockpit bi-plane.
you should see if you can get that fancy drone you have to track the cars and use the feed from that to drive 3rd person
If you put rubber garbage on them like they do on the drones it'll help eliminate a lot of the vibration
I think it would be cool to do the pan / tilt thing but put it lower so you cut out the windows and get a even more realistic feel, But it would obscure the camera vision in some spots. Keep up the good work!
I tried that myself... unfortunately the camera metered on the light level inside the car, and everything outside was over-exposed. :-(
Is there a way to hook up vr gyro with it instead of the controler for the camera movement
Hit that dirt pile!!
I bought a Gen7 sport because of you guys.
Show us how you changed the receiver in the RC car and how you hooked it all up to the Spectrum transmitter. Inquiring minds want to know the details!
Add a flight controller from a quad and use the osd for the angle of the car?
Alex put some proline 2.2x3" Baja t/a tires on your traxxas slash 2wd, it makes it so much more capable than the stock tires
the power source of th runcam split is from the receiver too? how to wire it? thank you guys!
how hot are the vTxs without the usual big airflow in planes ?
Gyroscopic stabilization for the camera so you don't get dizzy going fast on bumps
hey guys can you show a vid how to use plane transmitter for the cars? like a detail vid on the wiring?
You can 3d print an interior and make clear windows, then put the camera in the driver's seat.
I have that remote an an reciever an the camer mounted on servos like u do but know how to get it configured do u have some vids or more info on that part
Any hope for uploading the pan/tilt plans to the flitetest thingiverse?
Hi, It would be nice if you can get rid of vibrations... I'm following your channel and also bought 1:10 crawler. One thing, I found and what needs improvement is fpv vibrations.
Lmao "that's a good way to break a tooth " hahaha
Would totally buy one of these set ups from you guys. Living in Alaska I would love to use this just to kinda get out lol. Hook it up! I’ve got a few RCs. I have a xmaxx and a few Erevos, 70mph!! The xmaxx would get some people’s attention. Mainly the bash seen. But the true scalers out there would love it to. I’m pretty slow but wondering why some one hasn’t just made a simple Rc car set up. And super sophisticated cam on a action figure body that can look 360 bla bla bla! I want your first model!
what rx did you guys put in the trucks? im thinking about setting my ix12 up with my xmaxx.
use the head tracker, and explain in detail how and what reciver you used. i want to buy this setup ,what is the cost and can i use the taranis with it . thank you for the video
Disappointed that you didn’t once let us see what it looked like through the FPV monitor!!!!! That was the whole point!
what fpv monitor are you guys using. thank you
You should make an rc tank track all-terrain fpv rover and push it to its limits
Can you take them across the creek with fpv?
If you wanna get rid of the vibe from the camera, use heading hold gyros on tilt axis, doesn’t have to be expensive ones either, will help smooth out the vibes
hmm, that link isn't to the Pan Tilt system, just the pan. Also the link that site has to the product is broken. Can you update? Thanks! Super cool!
if you guys want the true fpv affect cut the windows out an replace with a very thin flexible plexiglass
How about using an Walkera cheap gimbal ?
You gotta get a gimbal on there for some smoothness.
