Like other comment mentioned, I have a tool with QD sawzall blade holder, super fast to use and I can get blades at any hardware store.

I've seen some biking EDC kits from people and those are some of the most interesting compact EDC kits I've seen! But you're right, this would work for that usecase! :D

Saws, IMO, are meant for destroying things, but for precision work (ang low weight) try a crafting saw.

I don't need a saw in my usual urban environment. If I go camping or hiking, I'm packing things into backpacks and duffel bags, and I don't care too much about bulk. I want stuff that works that fits in a backpack. For saws, that means a Corona (Project Farm winner) or Silky Boy. So I am not sure what problem you are trying to solve for, D. That said, some Leathermans/clones have T-Shank holders. Another tool reviewer tested a bunch of jigsaws and likes the Lennox General Wood t shank wood saw in such a holder.

Yeah that's a good point. I already have the Silky Boy so I don't really need to get another saw. Might be just one of those things where I just don't really need it, thanks for the insight. That actually makes a whole lot more sense.

some other options for compact saws:
1: they make screwdrivers that can also take the sawzall shank sawblades and their case accomodates them. a quick browse off amazon, general tools makes one that shows off the concept, but I have found these at auto parts stores and I cannot speak for that brand
2: leatherman clones, namely those based off of the surge accept the t-shank style saw blades used in jigsaws and that's a good always on the person option even if the ergonomics are rough.
if you are going to keep a saw on your person, I generally find a hacksaw to be more viable for EDC over a woodsaw personally. also in a pinch you can substitute a file with a side filing edge for a hacksaw. the one on the leatherman squirt works well for that, but sadly it is discontinued and sold at an exorbitant price

Ooh I'm intrigued with option 1. What's the name of the models? (2) Leatherman clones are often too heavy imo and bulky. But option 1 does seem interesting! :D

@@Dracomies since YT doesn't like links, I'd just look up screwdriver saw. "Performance Tool" is the brand I'd look for since it is what I have used. it has a twist clamp mechanism to secure the blade, and the handle itself has a bending lock mechanism to alter the ergonomics for when you want to saw. amazon only has 2 models listed, but I have found listings on walmart and duluth trading company. surprisingly none are sold by home depot and lowes on their websites

@@Dracomies "Performance Tool" is the brand that I have and use, but you can look up screwdriver saw and find a few options that all pretty much do the same thing and copy each other. it accepts any L-shank sawzall blade and just uses a twist clamp. hopefully this comment doesn't get ghost deleted like my other descriptive attempts
