I can't wear most of the classic casios because my wrist is too big for them - I'm limited to g-shocks. This is absolutely PERFECT for me. And I love the no nonsense design elements that add interest without being toyish. Thanks for the review! Edit: I actually like the retro amber looking LED light. We have enough glowing screens in life, this touch of retro I just love. Maybe 2 lights like in the Casio Royale might've been nicer, but I'll still take this over a blue glowing screen.
I love Casio, but I'm going to be a bit controversial- personally I think they are being more than a bit lazy with design and concepts etc. What will be the next great thing? Is it ok to just keep making endless g-shock and retro re-hashes?
The majority of releases are a little dimmed down for sure but look at the design of the most popular watch ever created…. The Apple Watch. Youngsters are looking for simple minimalist design . We’re not! ;)
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I take your point-a smartwatch or a phone can never be beaten in that sense- but just like Swatch re-invigorating things in the 80's, I'd love Casio to be creative with what can be done with a budget watch! (Easier said than done, I know!)
@@JerreMuesli Only 2!???!?? Oh man hahaha I feel like a hoarder now!! I wish I could decide on only 2 to keep but I struggle with that wants and needs thing like crazy 😂
I picked up my f84 in a don quijote store in Tokyo. In the chewing gum section next to the cashier. They also carried Rolex, Omega, sex toys and potatoes.
I think this one is a step in the right direction with the added newer features. But specifically looking at 2:26 in your side-by-side shot - Casio has to figure out how to get the new watches to look full dark and bold on the digits, and not partially greyed-out like so many of the newer ones look. Not sure if it's something to do with a change to the polarization film in the module or what, but come on - do better, Casio! This model is still not showing available in the US as of late August 2024.
Absolutely my friend! Thats the same with all new releases. Bit I. Everyday life it might not be noticeable but when your reviewing it and have to look at it face on, its very noticeable
I really like this one! Definitely cool to see Casio adding some additional features to their core range. I don’t need a step counter personally but it’s great to have that feature available for people who do want it but don’t want to go full smart watch/fitness tracker. I have an Edifice chronograph which doesn’t have any smart features but it does have Bluetooth and it’s great for making sure the time is always accurate and tracking multiple time zones. Another mega show MWC!
Wow bro, that thumbnail is something else... I just picture CZcamsr's taking picture after picture and being disappointed until they finally choose a terrible one a go with it. It's like its own form of art.
I paid £55 (with a discount code) for my ABL-100 from the Casio UK website and received it last week and I love it! For me the A168 is too small but this is just that bit bigger to make it look alright on my wrist. I absolutely love the whole retro look but appreciate the tech too - I think the phone finder function in particular could be really useful for me.
I hate how Europe (not including UK) is always last for casio releases. Sometimes a particular model is sold-out before being released in Europe. "casio have released ..." welll probably in japan, US and UK, but not yet in France, Germany , ... it's very frustrating. Is there a Japan-Europe war that I'm not aware of ?
Just got mine in today! Its the "classic" style ive been wanting, but an actual decent size for my large wrist! The Bluetooth functionality is awesome, and the step tracker really is a great bonus feature. Finally filled that "classic" niche ive been trying to fill!
There's only one Casio I want. It's from the late 80s/early 90s and is the only watch I've ever owned that I don't have now. It's the Casio TS-100 and a new old stock one can be had for £330 on eBay. I can't justify spending that on a Casio no matter how much I want it. One in good nick for a reasonable price will turn up eventually.
I love Casio, I have several watches from this brand, the first one I bought in 1981 (Casio Universal calendar 79QS-39). This model is very nice with a large screen, a retro style and a nice bracelet. Casio recently introduced the nice step counter function in several watches in the low price range. I love the Casio corner! ❤️
I love this! Casio is doing what it did back in the day with the sensors they use to have in the 80s and 90s. When we getting a tv remote reissue Casio that’s the question. Great show nice to be back watching Russ. Keep up the great work.
Can't ever stop buying Casio's... I find myself venturing out to stores even way out of town looking for great deals. Picked up two Casio AE1200WH Series watches one with the green map..GREAT VIDEO BY THE WAY!!
I've kept my A168 in good nick by never wearing it! I bought one for the retro looks, but it's just too small. Might give one of these a go, but have no need for a step counter. That will be switched off straight away!
I like the fact that it will work with your phone. Ya know, until the app is no longer supported or available. Anyone remember the timex datalink and old computers with CRT monitors? Well they weren't old at the time of course. Be happy to wait a bit for the price tide to go down. I could control the size of the app fonts and let the watch follow along. Thank you for the review!
Story time! I have a great story about casio. I was driving thorugh the N67 down Altimburg, in between the bridge and the famous twin cliffs. A car was stopped in the side of the road. Inside the car? Gsry Oldman. Guessnwhich watch he was wearing?
I'd buy this if it was a stainless steel case, for a chrome plating over resin i'm really not interested in paying more than $30-$35. I'll gladly shell out money for a full stainless though, I bought the A1100 and it's only of my favorite watches. I really think Casio needs to start making more models in full stainless steel.
Thanks for the review. Still waiting for it to be released in Germany. A fully featured Data Bank with a schedule and alphanumeric keyboard together with the features of the ABL-100 would be amazing. An innovative Data Bank is overdue.
About the water resistant. All these casio models say 30m, but from years of my own and others' experiences they can handle easily some light swimming and snorkeling. They are great in my opinion!
Super awesome. I may be wrong (or an idiot), but I don’t think they are selling in the U.S. yet. It’s not on the U.S. Casio website, and I can only find it for sale on eBay for $120 to $180! There are a few watch buyers here I think… come on Casio!
@@vw647 I think it’s not bad at MSRP (RRP) but not great either. But Casio knows their customers. Put out anything remotely cool, and we are lemmings off of a cliff…
If only they'd make an F91w or a A168 that was solar powered. Now that would have me literally hurling physical dollar bills at my screen until I come back from the fugue state and remember that it's the future and you don't really use cash anymore.
Nice Retro summer hair!!! Yes, have to agree with you this module should be on a W-86 resin variant. Certain parts of the globe, Casio is promoting their resin model WS-B1000

I have a DBC-610 that I would love to nominate for the Casio Corner, but it's in kind of poor condition. The module works just fine, but the case is scuffed pretty bad and the keypad is deteriorating. I plan to go on E-Bay and order another keypad.
Love the reviews I have learned so much, now I can't stop buying watches because of your addictive madness! Now I need somewhere to put them all. How about a watch case review?
This is a great module! It needs an SKXMOD upgrade to a metal case with sapphire. Might be hard to use metal with the bluetooth though - case will have to compensate.
Electroluminescence is great, but it does degrade over time, which an LED does not. Well, I mean, it might just stop working, but I assume these are so low wattage that it's not likely to ever happen.
Have recently bought the SRPL03K1 Seiko Limited Edition 5 Sports ‘Ash blue’ 1968 Recreation 42.5mm Automatic Men’s Watch, silver dial, fantastic looking case and the retro bracelet is fantastic, this watch looks more expensive than it is. what's your thoughts on this and the hardlex glass?

Hoping Casio would release this in the classic resin black with a similar colorway to the f91 & w217
if it was solar id by one today and yes id pay more. i know chging the battery is not a big deal but I like the piece of mind it gives me.
