I got this game 2 days ago, and I still have no idea what I am doing lol.
yo homie if you play on ps4 let me know i can help you thur the game
Ditto. You’ll definitely get the hang of it make good use of the training area
Yeah as of right now I’m just slowly going through the story. And doing random expeditions when I have free time.
@Mike Hein I started off with a great sword but ended up using a Longsword instead. It feels a lot smoother.
Same bro I can’t seem to find a weapon I like. Tough ass learning curve and with all the dlc stuff thrown at you up front it’s confusing.
The biggest mistake i made was that i used defender gear when starting out. I didnt realize the point of the game, since you'd just plow through everything and you could ignore most mechanics. I felt something was off, and i googled the defender gear and realized its just a way to skip most of the game and get to the expansion. When i stopped wearing it, oh boy, the game started being real fun. Having to dodge and perfectly time attacks to stun enemies, amazing combat and progression systems.
Pre-expansion is basically where you learn mechanics. Post-expansion is when you get the gear to live long enough to exercise said mechanics
I used the defender weapon in the begininng. Never again!
I used the defender gear when I started as it was my first game, but I have since played other games, learned major mechanics and have beaten most monsters in master rank (last one to hunt is lavasioth funnily enough) mainly in duo hunts with a friend.
@@Scufflords you can learn mechanics by using defender lmao. the difference is it saves you time by not being carted and faster hunt
I live in mhw(pc) almost everyday after work. about 3000 hours in and love helping new players no matter what rank they are, there's just a sense of accomplishment that comes with helping someone to see it to the very end!
I do the same thing. Over 2200 hours on PlayStation and every time I boot the game up now I go straight to SoS response. After 8 different characters I know how difficult some hunts can be and how frustrating it can get when no one helps you. I once found someone fighting HR Kushala, 23 minutes in, had no help, and already carted twice. That's what I look for. People who genuinely need the help because I don't want them to give up and quit.
@@MozzyTheMoose dope man! Is the replayability good in this game?
Im assuming it is since u have 3k hours but is there a lot of end game content?
@@Jaywin228 The replayability is incredibly high. There's 14 weapons to play with multiple ways to play some of them, 71 monsters to fight, 6 regions plus the guiding lands to explore, tons of things to unlock and upgrade, achievements to get and things to collect. There's even an aquarium in your house you can fill with fish you catch out in the wild. The game is very much a marathon, not a sprint, but if you have the patience and time to put in, it can easily keep you going for hundreds of hours.
I just finished iceborne for my 2nd character and even though ya can't skip through cutscenes I think replaying the game is good because ya end up memorizing things ya might of missed or simply forgot how ya achieved. So when Newer players have a questions. It feels nice being able to answer off the top of ya head and show them with a more hands on approach rather then just telling em to Google it :)
"this game is a marathon, not a sprint" started last month, full fatalis gear, most of the decos I need, just hit MR 100 tonight. Now I need to get augments and upgrade my armor and shoot for perfect decos. As someone who came from mmos, not having time gated endgame has been a treat.
I've been playing since launch, have no idea what anything you said is lol.
A few months ago I took a new character from the creation screen all the way to slapping that big stanky lizard fatalis in just over 40 hours. It was exhausting and I'm never doing it again. lol
wdym time gated endgame?
@@AdrianA-yo8jd I mean the only thing holding back your character is skill and luck. Most games have stipulations on how/when you can get gear. One raid a week before lockout, X amount of daily quests, that sort of thing time gates endgame. This game didn't have that and I was able to just slam through content which was nice.
@@Rizzbulla same except this is my first time playing again since 2018
I agree with the comments about the defender gear: it makes the game very “meh” and eliminates all the fun of crafting your own increasingly-good armor. Thank you for the video.
Yea true but I guess its just made for people who want to the iceborne asap
As a returning player I loved the defender gear. Wanted to start fresh to refamiliarize myself and allowed me to quick grind to high rank. Myself and both my boys since getting into high rank have since ditched it as we start to work on optimization
Two year old video and it’s still helping to this day. Returning player from beating it fully on ps4 to starting brand new after three years on series x now. Thanks homie
I was on PS4 and stopped playing when Iceborne came out.
Now I’m on PC since last week, and it’s fire seriously, can’t stop playing.
Thanks for that video !
Are you still playing?
pc is that much better?
@@BidiguiloChefao Last time I played was 6 months ago and there were still people
@@Goodfella6969 oh yes the PC experience for this game is really better than console, you can play on an ultrawide screen for example, and the big thing is you can use mods online and I like that, you can customize your hunter as you wish and other people can see it, and even QOL mods work online
@@Akaisensoo what about cheats?
Ive played this game for a day or two back in 2019. Didnt quite get hooked, but ill give it another try soon. Thx for the guide :D
Me and my full circle of friends (5) just bought this game. excited to start another journey with my buddies
Such a high quality video, im suprised it dosent have more views
Really like your Video!! Well Done!!
Thanks for the guide!
I wanted to buy it but did not know what I would be getting into so this is great.
yo homie if you play on ps4 let me know i can help you thur the game.
I wouldn't recommen Defender gear for people who played previous games, only use it if you're starting a second character in World.
I had 1000 hours in mhw on ps4. Haven’t played it in years and just purchased it again for the steam sale. Looking forward to jumping back into it again.
Great vid. Nice tips
Starting with a friend, been a long time. Nice video
For people new to the series, picking up the defender gear is arguably one of the worst choices you can make. The set & weapon are designed to get you to Iceborne as fast as possible. You will not learn anything from your mistakes, never figure out good positioning, ignore the core loop of the for a huge chunk of the game, and will be completely underprepared once you get to MR6ish. The Barioth wall usually exposed underdeveloped players that overly relied on defender gear. I say completely ignore it, the game isn't a marathon as you said. It is way more fun without, more challenging, more rewarding, forces you to engage with more systems within the game, and makes you a better hunter.
Thanks pal for this good shit,,i've been playin about 3 days ago,,and killed my first elder Nergi and its verry hard to figure a lot monster guide,,build etc,,verry helpfull
Thank you for all your help
Great video! I’ve been thinking about going for the platinum on this!
I don't recommend it, the game made it impossible to platinum cus its has 2 very difficult trophies that depends a lot on pure luck(get all crowns 👑) takes forever to unlock. I tried my best to get them but I honestly gave up cus I wasn't having fun and I reached the conclusion that it wasn't worth it.
I'm going for both platinums on mine. The crowns arent that hard to get. There's literally Event quests that crank the crown chances through the roof, and a handful of others that are garunteed crowns.
Dope video bro
Thanks for review downloading now...new sub keep it up.👍
Had it on ps4 but I'm converting to the pc master race full time lol. Downloading it right now. I gotta really love a game up end up owning it twice lol
The music backrgound sounds feels nostalgic 🥺
Let’s go ty so much
For the algorithm. Thanks for the video
Pick me pick me
Great informative video
Thanks a bunch. Got the game for free and want to give it a try.
Great guide my dude
Watching this video a year later really helps, especially after excessively using the defender gear(I just put it down and I'm about to look for negigante).
After 2500 hours, it really became second nature to play this game
Sheesh my man I only have 100+ I can't remember where I am because I deleted it but I have redownloaded and plan on getting back into it but Iceborne is stressful
@@vxlstra2138 i can help you if you want, what’s your platform
@@andi1754 I am on xbox at the Black Veil Hazak fight I have the Final Anja LS I kinda want Velkhana armor aswell but I am really just trying to get to Shara and finish up the story. Then crafting some Safi weapons and armor. This is just everything I want to do and you don't have to help me with it all as it will take a while.
@@vxlstra2138 I’m on ps4, sorry bro
Lol same I take a break come back and have instinct take over.
Awesome intro dude
Good guide and I appreciate it
🔥 thanks bro
I appreciate this thanks
This is amazing
thank you so much for the guide, I really needed this
I personally recommend people to use Defender Weapons but vanilla armor, it mixes a good amount of challenge and gives that visual sense of progress.
The only reason to use the defender weapons is to rush yo iceborne if you lost your old save, else you just screwing yourself
@@affegpus4195 i yeah as soon as i got comfortable with the combat i switched to crafted weapons, wich around Ajanath or Tobi... But for real, learning the combat feels "clucky" at first, so i understand ppl not wanting to worry about sharpening ot grinding early game.
Just returned after watching the MHW show on Netflix, games still so good
How's the show?
@@dominick1 probably better than the shitty movie lol
Wooooooo am the 2000th likes.
Also great video, am a new player to MHW as from yesterday and had been playing on freedom unite 2. Your video helped me understand a bit of the roadmap that awaits me.
Thank you for that
Weird thing...... nearing the end of the video, got a heavy dose of nostalgia from the Music of pokko village.
Thank you for your effort.
i just got the big edition of monster hunter that comes with iceborn. i’ve been really into dauntless and wanted to give mh another shot. i haven’t played since it first dropped and i had a couple day trial on it. very excited to play and go through.
Same right here
Great video
Oh damn, im a return player as well and literally forgot almost all the details. But I will say the defender set can be left out of the equation for new players because if new comers use that set, they can just breeze through the base game. Would be best for them to just progress normally. Just my personal opinion. Mastering the base game then go to iceborne will be the best choice instead of letting defender set do the lifting in early game
Im going to take your advice. I legit about to just get the game right now and im preparing myself looking at videos about monster hunter so im super excited. Only thing that i dont understand should i get this one or Monster hunter Rise? whats the difference? im sorry for the annoying questions, just dont want to make a mistake
@@carthage7836 It really depends. Do you have a switch ? Because Rise is only available for switch right now. World is a good way to start out tho if you dont have a switch and want to experience monster hunter before Rise comes to pc
@@xenogod3364 i do have a switch but I wanted to play it on PC, okay for some reason I didn't know Rise was only for the switch lol, thanks for the reply, also is the ice born worth getting already? Or should I just buy the base game. Steam has different versions that's why I ask and thanks in advance
@@carthage7836 Rise will come to PC eventually. Also yes, Iceborne will be worth getting if you are planning to go all in with World. The base game itself can be cleared quite quickly
@@xenogod3364 really appreciate you replying, thank you.
1400 hours here. I love this game. Very very underrated
Yo nice vid
This vid deserves a sub
Just downloaded the game again with the expansion, do vetrans recommend staring a new character to get back into the swing of things or use the one I beat the base with once? Happy hunting
Perfect!
thanks for the guide
This is so helpfull
Nice Video
I loved this game when came out haven't played it in while this video is perfect thank you
you gotta new sub pimp
keep up the good shit
lol make that 2

Just got gamepass 2 days ago and saw this game on there. Played a monster Hunter game a long time ago but I didn’t get very far. Gonna give this a try

Nice video
Reinstalling now and can’t wait to hop in again
Your video earned my sub

The pokke pokke theme😭❤️
bro… when it started it took me back. I remember playing da heck outve MH freedom/unite. Good times good times
Thaks for the vid
Ive never been able to make it over the beginning hump and get into it. Last time I tried the hammer, and I love the slow, powerful playstyle, but the moveset was a bit too simple. Gonna give it another go.
yo homie if you play on ps4 let me know i can help you thur the game
Try hunting horn bro. It's like a hammer but more complex and you buff yourself up. It's great.
Goat
ive literally forgot how to do everything in this game, today i decided you know what im going to buy the expansion was on sale, and relearn this game, man their are so many things ive forgoten you for real need to watch guides because i was so confused when i went back, and getting rekted, this is someone who used to be able to take down tempered nergigante in minutes.
hows it going? i felt exactly the same i cant remember a thing but used to be playing 8+ hours per day
By far my favorite thing about yt is supporting smaller channels
Bloodborne got me into games like this so I started out with the Long Sword and just absolutely LOVED the speed it granted me
New to the game. I appreciate this.
Same! About to fire it up in a few..wanna lobby up? I'm on ps5
@@DREADxMAW Im down when I get off work. Add me: SozeStone
Hello. i am new to the game cuz steam just sold the game on sale. thx for the vid
its been a couple years i was so into this game. i played during a painful time of mourning, returning during another time of mourning. Anyway, I hope i cam get back into it because I can't remember much on how to play 😢
Such a masterpiece, don't understand how this game is dying, it should have more players
its a 4 year old game
Late reply, but no monster hunter game ever dies. All have their respective and returning playerbase
Over 20k play it daily. It's far from dead
@@hirshel820Yup, I am going back to pla right now. Just need a few refresher.
Bro wtf u r just saying random shit. The game is alive. U can almost join full sessions plus the discord servers are so alive
played it for 2 weeks.
just played mh stories 2 and mhrise in switch never tried monster hunter before. but this game is awesome i dont know if there's anyone else playing it until now
Good vid
Liked and sub
Just watched the MH movie and didn't realize there was a game. Stumbled across this so this is for the ally 💜 Appreciate you taking the time to make this
how you like the game
There's a movie about this game??
Unfortunately I haven’t gotten around to downloading the game yet, but it’s definitely looking like a hand full. Yes ! Its a whole movie and it’s actually kinda good. It stars the woman who was in all the Resident Evil movies
@@physicsbey7736 not hating but the playerbase hates this movie because it literally trashes everything this game is.
@@sasagurayolol1013 It just might be the best thing the movie gave us. Another player. That alone almost justifies its existance
for any actual new players, DONT use defender gear... when it starts to finally get useless you will get very stuck as the gear wont carry you and you will not have fun
I always thought about this. Those new players using defendender gear will be too reliant on that armor and would not learn adapting learning and crafting new gear to progress the game
@@alfredjavier717 They can learn once they reach MR because the game basically starts there and you need to spend hours grinding for everything so you are going to practice anyway, don't be so dramatic about the defender gear
Defender gear is scaled to early MR. Farming for gear any earlier than that would be a waste of time. Early MR monsters like Beo and Jag aren't that hard and you can start "learning" the game there where it matters anyway. Dramatic, elitist mentalities like this are what scare away new players and hurt the community.
@@MozzyTheMoose Defender armor is definitely trash past Nerg honestly compared to better options regardless of whether you want to play a defensive or offensive set. That being said, health regen augmented Defender weapon (assuming you get some half decent luck) makes it competitive with most weapons until you get to brachydios-ish. Even without health regen, the amount of EFR you gain by using MR gear at that point in the game for most weapons is negligible at best outside of MR pink rathian weapons. The amount of base sharpness and blast help mitigate the dps loss as the better early blast weapons are only marginally stronger and the elementless skill got nerfed so that isn't much of an option before shara either. This is coming from the perspective of having well over 10k hours though.
I played till guiding lands and now I'm restarting after over a year
235k views and none these folks subbed. i wasn't sure when i needed to swap from the gifted gear thats catch up loot. sounds like i can get to the expac without too much grinding. thanks for the info and i'll be back hopefully if i get the new game :)
Coming back to the game
i have around 400 Hours in MHW but i forget why i stopped playing when fatalis released (i think i stopped because i cant kill alatreon) but yesterday i started playing again and was killed buy a rajang (im a LS user) i think i have forgotten how to play and now i dont know what to do, do i have to create now char and play from the beginning again?
Tbf the defender armor is pretty much early high rank stuff. The defender weapons are what's really broken op.
nice job
You skipped over the tutorial and I can't figure what that button on the left is because my mouse doesn't have it.
Got the game day 1 played finished world, still need to finish Iceborne been on a monster hunter kick lately playing (Rise finished story quests) *working on MHGU story quests) and MHstories 2 lmao
Any chance of you making a keyboard bind guide for range and melee?
I might be able to put it into the gear guide.
God bless everyone and have a good day.
Ive had the game for some time but barely scratched the surface, i dont know if i should start completely new or try to make prgress with what i have blind
Damn I love the spear good damage and high défence and mobility !
Lance you mean?
Lance is fun. Everyone says it has the worst DPS, but maybe they're just playing it wrong?
thank god for this "walkthough"
I agree, i just bought the game and thought ill go heavy bowgun. And it really is no joke lol takes forever to kill so i found it easier just to level up sword to go through the game so i can famr heavy bow whenever i reach endgame
Yea I’m about to finally start on xbox, wanted to wait til I got a pc but I can’t wait anymore. I want some cool armor and weapons 😂😭
Coming back after a year or few havent played since ROOCCKKKETTT POOOWWWERRRREEEDDDD GREEATTTT SWOOORRRD this is perfect for me especially starting a new save
Nice, im gonna go with this build. I had to restart my how account.. jeez
I'm loving hamer
Yeah, don't use Defender gear. It basically brute forces you through base game.
You don't learn how to play since you just tank most hits and kill monsters quickly with basic attack spam.
Dang wish I would’ve seen the stuff about the defender gear earlier 😭 I was starting to get frustrated that this kinda ugly gear was so damn good I wanted to try different gear sets but everything else was so much worse time to switch it up and only use that gear set if I’m getting destroyed by a monster
Basically I got a new ps4 and have to restart again from my 600hr account but loved this game and used to make so much content for it
@Verumbra :"If you're new.... Stay away from the Charge Blade and Heavy Bowgun..."
Literally my two weapons I'm completely new 🤣
I’m just honestly having trouble, I’m following the quests and everything, But the monsters seem like I’m still low HR, Yeah I’m HR 12, I’m where I have to Kill the Pink Rathian, And I’m just honestly getting like 2 tapped, so I just need help getting stronger HR wise, Any tips man?
Thanks
get some savi jiva duel blades and just beet the crao out of alatreaon and do alot of elemental damage and bring ALOT of healing items good luck out on the hunt
Ok, I really don't want to be rude because I know a video like this is incredibly difficult to make, but as someone who has clocked over 2200 hours across 8 different characters, looking at it from the perspective of a new player, I wouldn't have any better of an idea of what to do or, more importantly, how. What's here isn't bad, or even wrong necessarily, but it does seem to lack a lot of important, easy to understand and follow, detail.
