This is my reaction to my first time hearing Wicked Game by Diana Ankudinova. While the lyrics didn't have as deep of mental health meaning as most songs we do here on the channel, the music itself literally made me dizzy as I felt a rush of bliss. and hey, relationships ALWAYS have a mental health aspect, right? Her backstory is a demonstration of the indomitable will and spirit of the human soul. She had 8 siblings of which none survived her mothers abuse. She was picked up at about 3 years old half dressed outside in Russian cold with a broken collar bone I think. Her other family members took her but did not want her because she could not talk. An angel put here by God was a physical therapist and saw her in the Russian orphanage where she worked at and adopted her. She put her in singing lessons to help her develop her speech. The rest is history. Diana is an amazing girl and deserves the best life possible. She is humble and so loved by all her fans. One of the Judges in this show you watched is one of the top music people in Russia and arranged for her to attand the best musical conservatory in Moscow and gave her family an apartment to use during her training. He gets credit too, Igor Krutoy. God blessed Diana with a better life and in so doing blessed all of us music fans.
When I first heard about her childhood, it really did not make me think that she may have been singing to her birth mother here. Since I did finally think of that, HOLY CATS that is SO messed up! This young woman deserves every comfort that life could offer her!
Unimaginable to be born to a family life like that! At least she did get to grow up at all and she got to have a real Angel of a Mother (that wonderful lady needs to be awarded a medal and more)! Now that Diana has a platform and can communicate VERY well in multiple languages, the world hears and FEELS her pain.
Thankfully, that is not all that she is about. She does some FUN stuff, too! Her cover of Havana is one of my favorites because she had fun while making it!

The real Angel is the therapist's daughter, who told her mother that if she didn't adopt Diana, then in a few months when the daughter turned 18, she would.

People often feel physical effects when Diana is singing. She's known as the Queen of Goosebumps. She was 15 during this performance. This show is from a Russian TV station that featured disadvantaged children and orphans. Diana was an abused orphan at an early age who had speech problems and her adopted Mother arraigned singing lessons to help her talk. The rest is history as they discovered one of the most unique voices on the planet.

Greetings from Scotland! This was 15yo Diana singing in an amazing Russian project "You are Super" for abandoned/disadvantaged children because Diana spent some years in an orphanage when she was 3yo. She is a natural dramatic contralto (VERY deep!) which is rare in females but exceptionally rare in someone so young! Diana was born way over in the far eastern side of Russia in Primorsky Territory, northeast of Vladivostok. She has an extensive entry in Wikipedia now which explains her sad early childhood. She is now 18yo and she has already sung in *7 languages, Russian, English, French, Spanish, German, Ukrainian and Arabic!!!*

I think that Diana's performance of the song Personal Jesus is suitable for your channel, it is clearly connected with psychology, with religion, with personal ego, like an inner devil, and Diana, not only with her voice, but also in a fantastic performance, conveyed this concept of the famous Depeche Mode song.

You're right. The lyrics of this song, and some others that Diana performs, are not indicative of what might be considered "touching" in a mental health sort of way. On the other hand, the trials and tribulations that she's endured throughout her young life directly affect how she interprets and performs music. The mere fact that she is where she is today speaks to her ability to overcome the horrendously difficult situations that life has thrown at her (not to mention the stress she must have from becoming popular at such a young age). Diana Ankudinova was born in May, 30th, 2003 in the Far East of Russia. (Height: 1,70 m/ 5,7” ) She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had many pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she abused the child and tried to drown it. One day this 3 year old child was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage.
There she finally found love ... by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist who treated the children from the children's home. Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared, but she could all sing songs from cartoons. A doctor recommended singing lessons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started …
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range C3-D6). Diana's voice also sometimes has a polyphonic undertone. You hear: Her voice sounds an octave below the singing voice. (But not everyone can hear that.) Diana also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl.
Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions.
In 2018 and 2019 Diana entered a unique competition and won twice. This project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition: 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to CZcams and soon she had millions of fans and she is our goosbump queen.
The project producers help the finalists start their studies and encourage their creativity. Diana won a scholarship.
Igor Krutoy, here as a juror, gave her a small apartment (37m²/ 398,26 ft²) in Moscow. There, in the small flat she lives with her mother and grandmother and was able to begin her vocal training with the best teachers.
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors as an external student a year earlier than it is 'normal'. That alone shows how smart and hardworking she is.
She applied to music colleges and was rejected (examiners suspected she had a voice defect). But she is totally normal and healthy. Now she is a student at the university, at the legendary Russian State Institute for Theater and Variety Arts. Diana's background: Diana was born on May 31, 2003 in the Far East of Russia. She was severely abused as a small child and abandoned on the street by her birth mother in winter when she was only 3 years old with a broken collarbone. She was then taken to an orphanage where, after more than one year, she was adopted by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist. At the age of four and a half, Diana still could not speak properly. She also stuttered. Experts recommended that she take singing lessons to improve her general speaking and vocal skills.

There is a new TV show in Russia. There are 9 weeks with 9 shows and 9 well known artists. Diana is the youngest artist. They had to sing songs from 9 genres. The last TV show was on 20. November 2021. The 9 artists are also the judges for the other singer. And Diana (18 yo) won the overall competition of which Diana won 4 and took 2nd place once. She shocked the other singers with the first song. The Crow was her masterpiece in this competition, in my opinion. The judge who stands up is the great opera singer Yusif Eyvazov and the husband of Anna Netrebko, who is world famous. He's very impressed.

Diana is truly an inspiration. She has risen above what might have been a tragic past in order to get to where she is. Keep in mind that she is still a young woman of eighteen years (fifteen in this video). She was fortunate to have been rescued by a loving family.
Diana (think Deanna) is Russian and doesn't speak English.
My favorite inspirational song, that she has performed, is "They Beat Us, We Fly". The song is in the Russian language, but I don't need to understand the words. The delivery, by itself, is all that I need.

Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother at age 3. Because of this beginning, she had speech problems and was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talent was quickly recognized and the rest is history.
