  • Had my first experience at Pocono Speedway last weekend with Evolve GT, it was a fun little track and we even got to enter a race over lunch! Had to go up against the 600 as there was no class for my 650 to race in.

      Eh.. not really.. Sv's give up about 30 horsepower to most 600 sportbikes. So the SV is going to get freight trained on the straights.

    Very interesting I've owned an 2003 sv650s for 18 years now. It's funny how people under estimate how good these little bikes are. They are more than capable of sticking it to bigger bikes and I think they make you a better rider. I'll never sale her.

      But they don't need to be! If you put gold emulators in the forks, spring them for your weight, and even just throw a $50 take-out rear shock, and some quality tires on them, and they are track day riders! Going fast isn't about HP.

    Awesome video! On city streets I enjoy the torque of a V-twin much more than an inline. It’s 2024 and I’m riding a 2003 SV1000s. It’s a blast in the city once you get used to riding a 1000cc V-twin sport bike in those conditions. I rode a ‘99 SV650 back in the early 2000s. The “trick” on the SV1000 compared to the 650 is spending most of your time between 4K and 6K, or higher gears for lower RPMs. It pulls really hard in that range and allows you to be prepared for anything. The 650 is probably better for city riding for most people I would think.

    It's easy to pass on straightaway with lots of horsepower. Takes little to no talent! The real thrill comes from making all of your passes while barreling through the corners! I had a buddy that was riding a modified 2018 BMW S100RR. He was getting seriously frustrated not being able to hang with my carbureted 2000 Suzuki SV650! It's all about the corner speed! Cool video!

    • @tylerhumphreys5312
      @tylerhumphreys5312  Před 3 lety +8

      It’s a class of racing that is exponentially cheaper than racing middleweight bikes. The cost to get a well set up 2nd gen isn’t bad where as a new 600 is pricy and eats more tires.

    • @rpadilla99ish
      @rpadilla99ish Před 3 lety +3

      It's a huge difference in horsepower. An I-4 600 puts out 110-130 HP while an SV650 puts out around 70 HP.

    • @leoglasmeyer2853
      @leoglasmeyer2853 Před 2 lety +2

      The design of an inline 4 makes it so that they achieve much higher rpms like 14k and there they peak much more horse power, even with less cc's. That's why in the video as soon as there is a straight line and his opponents can rev out their 600's they overcome him very easily as the peak hp difference is very big. (70~ hp vs 120~)
