      @@cyberairwolf I bought a 2nd hand set of Yamaha HS8 from a friend. i still use the Edifier set too. I like to listen to the final result on both. Also wife plays her music on the Edifiers. I think they are great speakers, but like the Yamaha's for dialog editing. Cheers

      @@cyberairwolf You won't be disappointed in the Edifiers. They are great speakers. My wife loves the bluetooth,
      because easy to connect to laptop or phone. I'd go for them unless you are doing dialog editing.

    Is there a fuse somewhere? Mid and bass tones have stopped working for me, only the tweeters work, so I was hoping for some fuse to replace....

    Amp chip is two TAS5701, 20 watt stereo.
    One chip is for tweeter and other is for bass/woofer. Amp is not any magic anymore at today integrated circuit tech, majority, the magic is happened on good driver and good salon design.
    Many class D board with good design can present a very good quality sound at cheap price.

      So I hooked these up to my sons gaming PC and watched The Last Jedi. Sound is amazing. Can these be Hydro Dipped?... Just kidding. Also, really cool using them with BT with PC off.

    so it has double magnet, no wonder the bass is better than r1280dbs or mr4. the other only has single magnet.

    You're not supposed to fiddle with the polyfill at the back of the driver. It's supposed to dampen the resonances in the vent hole behind the dust cap. You need to stick it back using some rubberised adhesive, letting just enough gap for air to flow in freely for thermals but still damping the resonances.

      the foam in my speakers is making them distort at high volumes. Should I remove them or replace them with a better foam??

      I have recently purchased this model. You can safely go with this model from edifier if you prefer mid and highs accuracy with punchy bass. Sound is really great. Only thing that's missing is the thumping bass kick. You can definitely add a sub through it's 3.5 mm subout for that which I'll do in future.

    Do you think is a good idea to change all the system to bigger boxes with the usual soft material inside in order to obtain a better bass response?

      If you have the time to experiment with it, why not? A bigger box will definitely give more bass but to have really good punchy bass, you need to get the shape of the box right. It's all trials and errors.

      Nothing noticeable... I have these speakers for three years now and left and right sound exactly the same to me.

    That is NOT a transformer. It is a switching power supply board that contains dangerous HIGH voltage.
    I hope you know what you are doing.
    Some 2.1 systems use small step down transformers but not this model.

      @@aspyr5681 Used as normal, suddenly it made buzzing noises and since then they have worked sometimes and sometimes not. I'm afraid to continue using them. I think it is the switch.

    The transformer in my altec 2.1 system had a rectifier attached and the output voltage was 19.1 dc!!! I replaced it with a ryobi battery over 2 years ago no problems. I would love to know what the voltage is to the board on this unit!

    That's a too big magnet for that small amplifier,might be not efficient enough,looks like the power supply board is not design together with the amplifier board.so maybe there is few option to upgrade the speaker, first would be woofer driver,cable,and electronics parts, it's good they use Bi-amp design

    Once disassembled, can you safely de-install a tweeter or woofer and replace with another that fits -- or does the circuitry possible prevent this?

      There is no reason not to be able to do this as long as you match speakers size and impedance wise... I'd stick with similar power levels though, to avoid amp clipping.

    Hi, at 4:39 you said "two speakers", what do you mean by that?
    Is it the left and right speaker? or the tweeter and bass speaker?
    I just purchase this speaker and I want to flip the L and R position because my PC setup is on the right corner and I don't have the room to reach the control knob.

      Just switch the L and R RCA inputs from your source.

      My power transformer is also blown. Didnt even have the chance to turn it loud & the next thing was the speaker suddenly went quiet. Took it apart & the transformer coil output was zero volts. There is no fuse on the power board, so a Voltage spike can kill the transformer easily..

    anyone know where the bluetooth component is? My neighbor keeps connecting to my speakers and I want to remove or disable the bluetooth.

      Never thought about that as in issue and I just ordered the 1850DB's. They must have pretty good range if your neighbor can connect to them. I'm sure there's an antenna in there and removing that would probably do the trick. At 1:00 that little "cap" he points to is the bluetooth module I'm pretty sure and at 4:10 you can see a cable going to it so maybe you can just disconnect it there by removing the woofer.

      @@toddsimone7182 I found out that my laptop had bluetooth and I had no problem with the audio connecting the audio that way. (previously had problem with delayed audio when using laptop bluetooth and Bose speakers). Thanks for the suggestions though.

    actually there's a capacitor attached to the HF driver, you'd have found it if you'd pulled out the tweeter

      Not really, since this particular model has a Digital Crossover, that it, it has 2 amplifiers/ speaker, one for the tweeter and another for the woofer.

    Help please! I have the Edifier r2000db model and I want to replace one of the bass speakers. Where could I buy the exact same 5 inch speaker?

      You could use a multi tester to figure out how many Watts and Ohms the driver needs. Although I recommend to replace both “mid woofers” since aftermarket parts could sound different from the original. I suggest you contact edifier for this issue and request for a driver replacement. Only tools you need is a simple soldering kit and a screwdriver.

    Hi I just bought these speakers and I can hear a constant static sound that gets very audible as the volume goes above 50% even without any cables connected to the speaker input. Is this normal? Is there any way to eliminate that sound?

      No cable to input but still has static noise is what makes this speaker cheap in the first place. The inputs aren't even properly isolated in this case and them being class D IC chips, well...
