    Didn't realise that much time had elapsed, guys, since your mishap. Can understand why you're frustrated and chomping at the bit to head off. Henry, I reckon you've done a stellar job keeping your family safe and your vehicle n van in top condition, and you handled that ice-slide with a cool head. Lui had his first moments in the snow, and the girls, though their confidence is shaken, will reflect on the fact that they're uninjured and it was an unavoidable loss of control. Over how many kms have you kept your family safe, both of you, with great driving skills. To be honest, there are stacks of your videos I would watch again, especially the WA ones, so don't worry about your stats. We have plenty to keep us busy! Loved the drone shots at the end. Love ya work!! 😊

Reassure the kids it was just one of those things and that no-one got hurt and it can happen to anyone ,but take a breather and a break and just keep us posted with what you are doing the process of your search for a new vehicle all the hassle you have with the insurance company ,just normal life and problems ,so that we can still see you as we just love you to bits 💕💕 chin up and onwards

    I sort of know your pain, 1 week into our 2 month trip, miscounted bollards heading into a rural gravel car park and ,demolished both doors on drivers side, insurance offered me nothing as you would expect, that could ease my situation. I took charge of it myself, found 2 doors at a wreckers, same colour and model of my car . I drove 1000km to get to the location of the doors. Got it all fitted, had to polish them really hard to get them looking good. If it’s doors and stuff get on the web and find a few replacements. Mine now looks basically like it never happened, cost me all up1.3K, just 300 dollars over my excess.

    Every adversity has the seed of a equal or greater benefit. Something good will come out of it and you will be back on the road again. I know at the moment it seems to be a huge wall but give it tine it will come together. I lived on the edge of a mountain and know what's its like to hit snow & ice and go for a uncontrolled slide being just a passenger. No matter what you do its going to be taken over by gravity! I know its a huge cost but look at a second hand Chev Silverado 2500........... I am a hard chore Ford fan bit we are looking at them - great beast! Friends have just brought one and loaded up it is only doing 16-18L per 100 fuel burn. Come back to WA and do a couple of mths in Pilbara and you will cover the change over costs.

    It might be worth checking when a repair shop can fit you in, in the event you decide to get the 200 repaired. We got a small dent in the plastic strip panel below the doors on our 200 and we have to wait six months to get it repaired, and all panel beaters in the Albury/Wangaratta area were the same. I don’t mean to depress you any more than you already are, but it might help with your decision making. Best of luck guys, and we hope to see you back on the road as soon as possible.

    The biggest lesson I am learning from your struggles is to either keep the van under 3.5T or embrace the American trucks and go to 4.5T and understand you won't be able to do all the tracks that the 200 could have done.
    Also, if it makes you feel any better, I really want to get on the road, but family issues meant we had to cancel our new van order, they have since gone up $50k. So you're stuck in your van and I'm stuck at my desk working for the man.

    • @LivingOffTheVan
      @LivingOffTheVan  Před 5 měsíci

      Well you can't tow anything with a hire car fullstop.
      Having a caravan under 3.5T though would mean we could easily borrow any family members car that can tow that, and move our caravan around a lot easier.
      Again, same issue having an American car, 4.5t towing would make it very difficult to move your caravan if something happens to the tow car, and yes not too sure about the tracks you could do.
      That definitely doesn't make us feel better, we don't get joy out of others misfortunes. Hang in there mate, like us, you have to do what you gotta do to achieve your goals, we'll be working for the man again soon!

    You car does look fixable, if it costs less to fix than a payout will they fix it for you is the question. Waiting for them is a pain.

      @@LivingOffTheVan I would definitely call them and say you would prefer a fix, put it out there before they make a decision.
