    The scene where the husband was conflicted between the rapist that turned out to be a ill old man and the love for his wife is exactly why this film deserved an Oscar. Farhadi explores the morality of humans with such complex elegance.

    Asghar Farhadi is one my favorite directors along with Ingmar Bergman, Wong Kar Wai, Edward Yand, Jean Luc Godard, and David Lean

      One of mine too, along with Spielberg (from US), Almodovar (Europe) and Miyazaki (Asia). For me, movies by any of these 4 guys is an event. Like, waiting all year to see their film type of thing. And Farhadi is probably my favorite of the 4.

    Completely deserved. A Great movie and such a humane story. You can feel the pain of the characters through masterful performances and masterful directing. It might have had some political reasons, but in the end, it was definitely the best movie in that category.

      as an iranain, i loved A Man Called Ove more, but more importantly, I'm sad that a government approved film & script represents us, films made about issues that can't show the reason of the issues (the government) and shows the people as the problem, Jafar Panahi is the director that deserves Farhadi's received attention.

    When Marlon Brando refused the Best Actor award in 1973 for The Godfather to take a stand for Native Americans, the girl who gave the speech for him was booed. 44 years later, another awardee is absent to take a stand for his people and this time the woman who's giving his speech is being applauded. Either the society has changed a lot, or the Sound Technology has advanced enough to silence the boos 😄.
