And Best Actor (Peyman Moaadi), Best Supporting Actress (Sarina Farhadi), and Best Whatnot!! what an absolute gem of a film!
Kshitij-- Yes! Yes! Yes!
!!!!!!!
A Separation has great screenplay.
Alejandro López It got nominated. do you even do your research?
@@bookeblade I didn't know when I wrote it, I searched it before, sorry
Hearing Sandra Bullock pronounce Iran correctly and then hearing that generic voice over lady pronounce it "Eye-ran", ugh.
It's all on the accent. Many English speakers say it differently.
@@jlhabitan50 It's not about the accent. Iran is pronounced the way Sandra Bullock pronounces it.
@@jlhabitan50 how the hell is it accent? literally anyone can pronounce iran. all consonants and the vowel in the word are universal. GTFO
@@avim2578 And yet it keeps on happening.
😂😂😂😂👏👏👏
Iranian cinema is a hidden treasure and so underrated. Abbas Kiarostami was supposed to have an academy award as well.
Maybe a documentary about him would. And that is in Farsi. It would be the Oscar he deserved
Kiarostami got better than academy award, he won Palme d'Or from Cannes for "Taste of Cherry"
I'm addicted to Iranian movies. A Time for Drunken Horses, Trouble, Still Life, Bashu, The Silence, The Circle,... just to name a few. An Oscar for Iran is long overdue, and this is well deserved. Thank you, creative and critical Iranian film makers, the world has learned a lot from you.
Did you see The Past, his most recent film? Excellent as well
I did. The past is excellent except that it's a bit too manipulated for its own sake, especially when it comes to the children. Still I love it.
Trang Le Close up?
Trang Le The Salesman, The Past, About Elly, Close Up, Koker Trilogy -- all are masterpieces
try seeing the color of paradise it makes me cry everytime...there is a famous line in the movie every Iranian knows...;)....try also seeing their old movies, there is a very long movie, almost like a series that will show you exactly how Iranians think and what they were and what they become the name is "my uncle Napoleon"
Iranian people are very proud of him..
Ah yes
No we are not, it was a made up shit show
كسخت ايران
فقط کاش یه کم بهتر صحبت میکرد

Just watched this film. Makes me wonder why MMFF 2017 finalists are relevant in the Philippines. :(
ayoo?
Best movie of 2011. Can't wait for Farhadi's next film(s), he's one of my favorite directors!
Best director working today, in my opinion. :)
they're getting Farhadi's previous work out, have a look at Fireworls Wednesday or About Elly if you haven't yet.
Oh, I've seen them all. :)
My favorites are A Separation and The Past, but they're all great.
Can't wait for The Salesman!
Also an earlier movie he did "About Elly" good one as well..
The movie left me in tears. I cried even more when it got the Academy Award. Superb!!!
You saw it before it was nominated?
@@emiliobello2429 I don't know why people really like this movie. I haven't found anything special in it.
Yeah, the beliefs of the poor lady were very strong. That's it.
sandra bullock is admirable, not just that she pronounced iran correctly, she also knows about the culture, she didn't go hugging and kissing farhadi on his cheek as most western ladies would do :)
emwinzy she’s a queen❤️
I Loved that
My thougts exactly very classy of her
Well I respect Miss Bullock for respecting the fact that Mr. Farhadi lives in a theocratic authoritarian nightmare and kissing him or even shaking his hand would offend the AK wielding yentas of the NAJA Guidance Patrol گشت ارشاد, this is not Iranaian or Persoan culture this is Islamist propaganda. Our culture is millennia old, pre Islamic, multi faith and cosmopolitan. We in the diaspora shake hands, kiss on cheek and are not backwards insane nutjobs
It's NOT Iran's culture, it's Islamic Republic's oppression! we shake hands and hug JUST LIKE normal people do, if he had done otherwise he could have gone to jail or have himself or his movies banned in Iran. Although I'm amazed by Sandra Bullock's pronunciation of Iran, she had done her research, I love her, no bs with her. 💌
Watching 'A Separation' was one of the most intense film experiences I've had. A true masterpiece. Such an insightful, honest and realistic depiction of our modern societies, from the human relationships to the court difficulties and the chaotic social structures. Excellent performances and a screenplay that will be studied for years. Greetings from Greece, Mr. Fahradi, your film is phenomenal. Congratulations for the win.
Honestly the best film of that year. Should have been nominated for more. Well deserved.
should've won best picture and the lead actors deserved acting nods
It did, for Best Original Screenplay. But I do understand what more means.
Well spoken words, Mr Farhadi! Most ppl around the world can't see the difference between the iranian people (the vast majority) and the iranian regime.
What a movie! What a Director! What a Speech! "despite the aggression exchanged.....Iran is recognised here for her culture..."
(I finished this movie just ten minutes prior to commenting here)
Spielberg has said that he loves "A Separation".
This movie is another category....it Made me cry especially at the end
this is a great film and deserves the oscar ..
The actor who played the father in the movie, I don't know his name (he can be seen sitting in the audience), should have been nominated for Best Actor. He was superb.
Excellent movie, completly deserved it, and it should had been nominated for Best Picture and Best Actress, and if was nominated it should had definitely won. The best movie of that year and one of the best I've seen, a masterpiece.
The movie is absolutely brilliant! And in regard to Farhadi's speech, he has shown by "A separation" and other movies that it does not matter what country people live in, there is no difference in what they feel and how they feel. We are all HUMANS
best speech in history of oscars
Yaqub Leis facts
I just saw the movie, and It was 1 of the best movies i ever saw. There is so much more to a country and what others make of it from outside, esp media. The common man is the same all over the world, has the same kind of love for his family, has same amount of troubles making ends meet. There were so many scenes which moved me like no other movie had ever before. For instance, I cried with Moaadi in the scene where he cried cleaning his dad in the bathroom, I could feel his pain, his agony (and for a moment I put myself in his place and that imagination brought tears to my eyes). This is a masterpiece of world cinema. I will cherish this movie for a lifetime (and would realllllly want to age like Peyman Moaadi).
The movie can makes me to cry, brilliant that feeling was same like when i watching another iranian movie children of heaven, masterpiece
There r so many mixed emotions .. love for ua father is one of them .. for ua children... honesty . U knw there is so much to luk forward to in this movie .. evry single scene has made me shed a tear.
The Separation is one of the most complex movies, narratively, I've ever seen. And yet, it all makes sense in such a human way.
Asghar Farhadi is the best.
For those who thought she was gonna speak Chinese....SHE WAS JUST KIDDING!!! What she said is completely german. It was a joke, don't take it amiss!!
I can't believe I'm just now hearing and seeing this film after all these years. Had me in tears on so many levels..There is absolutely nothing like Forgein films. Loved every bit of it🙏🏾
I've never gotten tired of this movie.
I am a Bangladeshi, currently living in California. A separation was an excellent movie....Iranian movies are beautiful. I also loved "Children of Heaven" and "Baran" They prove that with good story line and masterful artistry in film-making you can captivate people without any violence, sex or profanity. Kudos to the Persians!
One of the best films i have ever watched. Thanks Ashgar Farhadi.
absolutely brilliant film. best part is character development and great screenplay
One of best movies I have seen
Wonderful and meaningful speech! So profound!!! I have been to Iran, has done social research in Iran and I can tell Iranians are one of the most liberal, tolerant Muslims in the world! They are suppressed and controlled by a small proportion of the population who presents a completely opposite face to the world. May God bless this beautiful country and its people and free them from this oppression!
Oh gosh, so well deserved! And some of the actors of the film should have been recognized by the Academy as well.
If I saw the separation in a theatre......I would've clapped at the end.
Same here
Amazing movie. About Elly is very good too. Going to watch The Past as well soon. Watch his films and you'll see that Iranian are just like everyone else. They play soccer, they surf, they have parks and malls and universities. Don't believe how the news media projects them to be. Google beautiful images of Iran, you'll be surprised.
+savedfaves I could not have said it better and have said the same thing to people about his films. I saw About Elly as AND I also saw La Passe (The Past) it's as good..He is a master director. Also the daughter in "A Separation" is his real life daughter who is a fine young actress.
meant to say that I saw "About Elly" as well
+savedfaves I believe About Elly to be superior to A Separation actually.
Thank you for the nice words. It is refreshing to see open mindness and kind words about Iran despite how she - a nation of science poetry and progression is being portrayed by the western media.
+Mehrzad Heidari Thank you for responding. I like what the original commenter savedfaves expressed, The people of Iran are like everyone else. We suffer from the same human condition that we all do. That is what is so special about Farhadi's films. They are not political they are universal!!
This movie is fantastic. Honestly,it's an story that could very well happen anywhere.
Beautiful movie! One of my favorites ever! Touched my heart so deeply!
Wonderful, wonderful movie, real master piece!
It is sad how people stereotype and judge other people...
Iranians a wonderful people! They truly are.
This is an Macedonian writing...no politics or whatsoever...just normal human interactions. All my Iranian friends are wonderful and the movie is just beyond of art.
Actually, I made most of my friendships with Iranians after watching this masterpiece.
so inspiring..each time that I watched, I end up with tears on my cheeks
Then years later a foteign language film Parasite won the Best Picture
Yea
Then there will be more
Wow Sandra! How talented!!!
Congratulations on this, even though the audience couldn’t be bothered….Bravo 👏🏻
She is so brilliant and funny. I would not have kept a straight face after that.
2:13 - 2:50 ... sitting with tears in my eyes, SO happy that the film won and that speech is so true
i can cry with this moment
Benda Billi should have been in place of Bullhead. I couldn’t decide between Footnote or A Separation winning the Oscar
I watch this movie 6 times
It's awseum
Why did this movie win Best Foreign Language Film?
It should've won Best Picture
I guess so. One day an Iranian movie would win Best Picture. A movie in Persian will win Best Picture any day now, even if it’s from another country. Maybe a documentary
I believe we can all agree, from whatever country we are, that this film deserved more than just 1 Oscar.
When Termeh was asked to choose....I think the Oscar was decided at that moment. God, I wish I could hug her.
Same here. If I was an Iranian girl I would
It says: the movie was really beautiful. congratulations to all Iranian people!
Awesome really best Iranian film
a great speech
Just finished watching a separation.and feeling happy
all iranans are proud about this director
Currently sitting on #110 on IMDb Top Rated Movies, A Separation is certainly the 2011's best film.
Should've gotten more nomination. If it's one, then Best Picture.
Just watched this yesterday, and I freaking love it! One of the best I've ever seen.
1:32 In the last row you can see the director of the film ''In Darkness'' Agnieszka Holland with her daughter Kasia Adamik and producer Juliusz Machulski 😀
We are proud of him(:
You should be, it was a beautiful piece of cinema. Im not Iranian myself but am so proud that this country could produce such magnificent works of art and finally win an Oscar which they deserve despite all the negativity portrayed by the media.
I just saw it, an amazing film!
What a movie! I just finished it. Well deserved.
It was so well deserved as it was about the human condition which affects everyone of us..
I recently watched this movie, one got to know this from one Pakistani actress who talked so much about this film and really it deserves this award. All the artist did fabulous job.Best wishes!
@ardbastard1 Agreed, wholeheartedly! This marks the first time I was moved to tears by an Oscar win.
Sarina looks so proud! ❤️
Masterful story teller azghar farhadi
I like how they all thought that Sandra was kidding about the chinese. What a wonderful film, such a powerful story.
Oh my god it was the best moment of my life , I still remember myself and the rest of our country crying .....
Your movies are so great, and believe me they should have recognized them more than that, but so happy for you all, I've been in Iran and saw wonderful people there despite the hard situation because of F... politicians
one of the best movies I've seen in a looong time!! just AMAZING!! watch and see for yourself !
Truly well deserved. It's such a well made film. This film is so good I think everyone should watch it.
True. I saw it as a kid
I am Iranian
I'm proud of this film
:)
Good
Same here I’m Iranian too 🇮🇷
just watched the movie , such an amazing piece of cinema
Very nice. I'm happy for Iranian people
flawless movie genuinely well deserved
wonderful sentiment and a brilliant movie!
Legendary film. Well deserved.
Wish you best of luck asghar farhadi for 2022
One of the best films ever.
Iran is one of the greatest country
Anime Klassiker agree but we get our history back , it's about more than 30 years after that revolution but 30 years is nothing in a country with 2500 years culture.
Yes it is
one of the best movies for sure
A separation is definitely a delight for any cinema lover.
Absolute majestic. Broke me completely this miovie. Always held Iran
como siempremuy buena presentacion de Sandra .... Separacion es un premio muy merecido..
Makes me so proud, truly a brilliant movie, brilliant directing and acting.
it's such a wonderful movie
What an amazing film it was. Much better than the Movie of the Year, to be quite honest.
seldom do you see a more engaging drama on the issue of moral choices in life. The movie asks tough questions . By the time the movie ends, even the viewers find themselves trapped in the moral web of the movie. Great work of art. You decide if you can ! Each performance looked better than the other, you can't decide. Particularly, the performance of little Kimia Hosseini bowls you over. This actor is so young, yet you cannot find a single false note ! Persian cinema, a lover of cinema sends you love and appreciation from India.
She did great in it. She’s the only female character to appear without hijab in the movie
Excellent speech. I hope everyone understood what he said and more importantly what he MEANT...Iran is a very fragile country at the moment and people are very misinformed of the difference between Iranians and the government. The government is not even 1% of the country. ONLY Iranian people wish to take control back of their own country and DO NOT want America to intervene. If you want to know who and how REAL Iranians are (other than what the news tells you) hit the replay button.
thank u asghar farhadi!!! thank u so much!!!
Amazing Man....Amazing Movie ....
Juat finished to watch it and then watching this video. Love for Iran from Bangladesh. 💚
Soon there will be an Oscar for Bangladesh
Brazil congratulates this great movie.
I wish so much that In Darkness had won, I love the story and also I absolutely LOVE Agnieszka Holland!!! She did two of my favorite films, The Secret Garden and Total Eclipse.
His name is Payman Maadi. If you like to watch another great piece of acting by him watch "About Elly" which is another great film by Asghar Farhadi.
Awesome movie! It was truly a remarkable movie.
Asghar 👏🏼👏🏼 a true artist
I have seen both - if you understand the context of Iran and if you're honest to yourself, I would find it hard to believe if you tell if it still should go to In Darkness. A separation is a triumph of humanity, bravery and independent creativity. In Darkness is brilliant but A Separation has the spirit we all should salute to. This is respecting that spirit more than respecting what the film TECHNICALLY all about. Cheers.
life is beautiful was also nominated in 1998
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen
