Oddly I kind of like getting up super early for a flight. I like being at the airport at like 4 in the morning when there's not as many people there. Plus if I woke up at my normal time and had to wait all day for the flight I'd die. I flew out of Corfu at like... 7 or 8 pm and I'd been hiking all day the day before so I was just sat in the airport for like 7 hours and it was empty.
I wish I could be traveling but what am I doing? Getting bad grades in law school 😭

I’m glad seeing that someone feels the same as I do about travel! I traveled for a month and I was ready to go home by the second week. I felt so discouraged because people typically love long-term travel but I love the feeling of home!
Because of these videos, I've been looking into going to England, Scotland, and Ireland and staying in Generator Hostels. SO much more affordable and actually makes me feel like I can travel to Europe someday soon!
Side note, I think you're Gryffindor, you seem pretty brave to me.
Tiffany Blair minus about these generator hostels is that they don’t have a common kitchen where you can prepare something yourself (don’t know for sure if that’s the case in all of them) and most other hostels do have that ... i find that gives much more oppurtunity to balance the travel costs and lets you go out eating guiltfree cause you can fix something simple yourself the other day ... even just for breakfast. Worth checking out other hostels, there are many really nice ones for the same price
generator hostels aren't that amazing tbh and aren't very social at all.
If the hostels aren't great like these guys say, stay outside of cities instead of in the centre, in England we have a load of public transport so sometimes staying near the cities can be really cheap (with the right deals and discounts of course!) and the easy-ish option haha

+Erin Bower save! Hostels are around $20 a night if you book in advance. Airplane tickets have gone down significantly though out the years. Food and things to do definitely add up though, so create a plan and a budget. Anyone can travel you just have save first!
also a lot of plane companies have discount codes if you really watch out for them, my sister saved $50 on her flight from a coupon code! alwayssss check for coupon codes or some kind of deal (even when just shopping for clothes lol)
Too bad hostels in New York City are around $60 on average for 1 bed in a shared dorm
Try looking into sites like STA Travel or StudentUniverse for discounted airfares. I am planning on studying abroad next fall in London and I found a one-way ticket from Boston to Heathrow for just $200 dollars, my current school recommended the sites to me. It may also be cheaper to buy two one way tickets instead of one round-trip ticket, but that all depends on the airline.
Also, if you are a student or under 25 years old, there are numerous student/young adult discounts you can take advantage of.

I just finished a one year trip through Latin America, staying and volunteering in hostels for the whole year. It's so funny to me that someone could get tired of traveling, the hostel life, and seeing/learning new things, especially because I've been back home for a week now and I keep getting anxiety because I miss traveling. I guess traveling for long periods of time is not for everyone! Traveling is nice because it makes you appreciate your home even more, hope you have a safe trip back home!
Okay YES. The decorative pillows and blanket on hotel beds gross me out too. I feel like you're the first person outside of my family who thinks this.

I'm norwegian and the dish is norwegian catfish wrapped in potato pancake bread with spices and small bread crumbs. Also comes with beets, onions, fried capers and "capersmayo". Uh idk this dish was hard to translate

I worked at a hotel for 3 years. The only time we washed the decorative pillows and blanket was when there was a actual stain on them. So yeah always take those off the bed! lol

i'm currently studying abroad and my weekends are all booked up with europe trips so that i can make the most of my time here. but it is so so tiring hopping from city to city. such an extraordinary & rewarding experience, but an incredibly tiring one. i feel u on wanting to go back to routine and normalcy!

If you want to go to Germany, there is a great Ferry/Cruise from Olso to Kiel (Germany). It´s an overnight Cruise. It´s really cool!! :)

you are right. they don't. they wash the sheets and the pillowcase. sometimes the blanket and comforter but it depends.

The worst part about traveling is meeting people and probably never seeing them again. Under some circumstances that's a good thing, but it kinda sucks having to keep moving on.
I worked at a luxury hotel as a room attendant and I can tell you that those decorative pillows and blankets are not washed. I toss them off the bed every time I stay in a hotel.

You should travel to Norway with a better mindset. It’s an amazing country and I really think you would love it if you would go there some other time. Also the camera shots you took in Oslo made me feel so homesick, Sacramento CA is definitely not like cozy Oslo! Love your videos Monica

Love that you have visited my country. what you saw in the menu at the resturant is tortilla with catfish and spices, it becomes a snappy pizza or taco.

Travel is rough!! During study abroad there were many tears shed in the shower and breakdowns because I was homesick. BUT I got through it and there isn't a week that goes by where I don't think about Spain. But yeah definitely missed America a lot fasho

That must have been Gardermoen in your thumbnail, and I recognized Lillestrøm before you showed the sign. Also, your dinner dish was called "The fisherman", and included catfish, two potato (sort of) pancakes, onions, beets... and I forgot the rest. Was it tasty?
Ohh!! It was so good! If I woud've known it was catfish, I probably would've been weirded out. I'm glad I tried it, because now I think it's great.
I've never tried catfish myself either, but I've heard it's actually delicious. Your Norwegian grocery store trip was hilarious - did you notice the price on those Oreos?! Knowing what they cost in the US, I am *not* paying that.

One time I did a three-week trip to Tokyo, Kyoto, and Sydney. I would never again visit 3 new places in one trip--too much stress. Maybe two places; ideally, just one. I can stay for a long time, say two weeks, in one place if it's exciting enough. I was in Tokyo for one and a half week; I could've probably stayed for two weeks and wouldn't have got bored.
i was a housekeeper at a resort over the summer and we definitely don't wash throw pillows and honestly not the blankets that much either. only thing we washed every time were pillow cases and sheets. it was a nice resort too ew

you ate something that looks like a tortilla but we call "lomper" and it's made out of potatoes. In it was catfish with spices and panko bread cumbs (?? I think, def needed help from google lol), with beets, onion, fried capers and capersmayo. Was it good? I'm Norwegian, and I've never tasted catfish and I'm not a fan of "lomper", but then again I don't like a lot of fish. Tend to stick to salmon and mackerel.
Also I totally get you with the traveling thing, I’ve been away from home for about 5 months since I left early for college & although college has been amazing, the adrenaline is wearing off & I’m ready to go home for a bit :)

I defs know those travel feels. I was travelling around the world for 5.5 months and there were so many times I wanted to go home! I honestly don't know how I got through it, but it was all worth it in the end. I had so many amazing experiences, but was so glad to be home.

Hi Monica!! I don’t know if you’ll see this since I’m kinda late to commenting, but I’m getting ready to fly home from college in a couple weeks for thanksgiving which is exciting! But I’m also a bit nervous, since it’ll be my first time flying alone. The flight is only about an hour & a half, but I’m nervous that something bad will happen even though I’m sure I’ll be fine. Since you fly alone frequently, I’m just wondering if anyone ever bothers you or you ever feel nervous? I’m sure you’re a pro now but any tips you have would help :) loved this video, you’re awesome :)
Julia Park I fly home from college all the time girl! It’s the same amount of time too. The flight is so short you’ll barely notice. Just bring headphones, a book, and a snack. It’ll be over before you know it! I was afraid of flying before it became necessary, and those lil flights made my fear go away. I just flew to Australia this summer from New York by myself (like a 40 hr flight with layovers). You got this!
