I've had Invisalign for a year and a half and finished my treatment this summer. ( I am 28 and work as a nurse) Once you have Invisalign you'll notice how many adults have it and you can spot from far away because you know what it looks like :)
Quick tip: change your trays at night and take some Tylenol before. You'll have less pain or none at all.

I don't really get that much pain. If I do I just sleep or play a game and try to ignore it

How was it for you as a nurse? I will be a new nurse this summer and concerned about not being able to sneak quick snacks

    • @manuelabresee
      @manuelabresee Před 3 lety +3

@@tiac227 Honestly, I barely had time to eat lunch let alone snack. Snacking is not worth it while wearing your Invisalign because you have to brush your teeth every time you put food in your mouth.
It’s 2021 now and will be wearing masks for the foreseeable future so people won’t know you have Invisalign/braces. 😆

Hey Monica, my retainers are exactly like your Invisalign and I find that it's easier to take them out if you pop them out from both sides at the same time instead of pulling on just one side. That can actually also prevent them from breaking since the pressure is applied equally. Good luck, I'm sure you'll get used to them in no time. They definitely seem much easier than getting regular braces.

When you take out your trays, try using both hands and kind of get both your thumbs (or pointer fingers if its the top) under the tray and flick up!

Monica! Watching you take out your trays gives me flashbacks! I am on my last month of treatment now of Invisalign and just got my attachments off last week for the final trays. Taking those things out was a pain at first but I SWEAR it gets better. Give yourself a solid week or two with them and you'll get the hang of it and it'll just become a part of your daily routine. And the lisp goes away too as your tongue figures itself out! It flies by I promise you! I feel like I just got mine yesterday. You got this lady! :)

I had invisalign during high school and it changed my smile COMPLETELY. Yes carrying a toothbrush everywhere is a little whack, but people understand. I don't regret it at all. I had over 30 trays but you get used to it so quickly. It actually made me lose weight because I would never want to take them off! Switching trays isn't horrible either. Good Luck!!!

Hey Monica, I just got Invisalign too and my orthodontist told me the proper way to take them out. You have to start at the back and when both sides of back of the tray are out then take out the front. It’s the same with putting them in, always start at the back then the front. Just didn’t want you to break your trays

When I first got Invisalign a year ago, my orthodontist made it a priority to teach me how to put it in and get it out, and he had me practice a few times in front of him, so that when I walked out of the office I knew how to do it myself. I'm surprised yours didn't do that

Welcome to the club! I have Invisalign as well, I got mine back in April of this year. My teeth normally only hurt for the first 2-3 days of a new tray. For me it hurts the worst when it's a new tray and I take them out and it like snaps off my attachment... not fun. Overall they're great and I am so glad I chose to go this route.
Oh and a tip for taking them off start lifting from the back of the trays by your molars on the outside of your teeth, like by your cheek. Then once that is up its easier to go in and pop it off the attachments, hope this helps!

I'm almost finished Invisalign and you don't need to wear them 22 hours a day, more like 18. My dentist cut my wearing time per tray from 10 days to 7 because I was doing so well and I most definitely wasn't doing the 22 hours. The worst part is those little bubbles you can sometimes get between the tray and your teeth. Good luck with everything! :)

You've already had your invisalign for a couple of weeks, but it helps to use both hands and sort of shimmy them out, instead of using one hand. Plus I found that the first 2-3 trays hurt the most and then after that it was only a couple of days of minimal pain. Good luck!

When I first got my clear retainer I used to rip it out in my sleep! But after a month it became so normal. It gets super easy to take them in and out too. I wear mine every night (actually it's great because I grind my teeth in my sleep and my retainer protects my teeth) and will have to wear it for the rest of my life otherwise my teeth will move back to how they were before.
Anyway, glad to see that you have such a positive attitude towards it! And for the painful times....just know that it WILL pass :) x

I had invisalign for about 11 months and I didn't have too many problems with my teeth other than a lot of spacing and a slight over bite. The first couple weeks were uncomfortable but after that I personally thought they were really easy, just kind of an inconvenience at times. The only time in noticeably hurt was when I didn't wear them a ton for the two week period and then went onto the next and my teeth hadn't adjusted enough to move on, or when the plastic would rub against my mouth and make it feel raw. That was the most pain I went through, and all I had to do was file the aligner down a little bit and it was totally fine. If you don't 100% need braces, I really suggest invisalign.

Brooklyn Hortenstine I knew I’d be too tempted to take Invisalign off when I worked. I do a lot of talking & didn’t want to have a lisp & I hate how much spit builds up in the retainer. My Invisalign treatment plan was also going to be 6-8 months longer than the regular braces. It also forced me to keep my braces on & didn’t cause any delays with forgetting to wear the Invisalign. Even 4 years after having my braces off I still forget to wear my retainer nightly. I remember about 3-4 days a week haha

How long does it usually takes to get used to them because every other minute I just want to take them off today is my second day wearing them it’s so uncomfortable I just want to pull them off !

I had outside dental braces for 2 years! I know the pain, but you don’t feel the pain after 2 or 3 months

when I first got my retainers after I had braces I struggled some much to get them out... so very much can relate to your first experience w the Invisalign

Monica, you have to use two hands to get out Invisalign!! It’s much easier even though it’s awkward

i have invisalign too, and just a pointer, when youre taking out your trays i used my nail and pull up at the WAY back of the tray like where your molars are, try to not pull them up towards the middle cause then the tray will lose its shape quicker!! buy goodluck with it!! i also totally relate to the "im not going on a date for 2 years" comment cause i was in your shoes haha. i just take them out right before i go in to eat if going on a date and kissing someone isn't bad in them, i was worried about that too haha!

I have Invisalign, and it helps if you take them off from the molars of your teeth at the back from one side
