NOT AGAIN! DOG ATTACKING PREGNANT EWES

- I can’t believe this! only a few days after the last incident where a dog got loose in with our pregnant ewes, it happened again. This time it was in the twins and if we hadn’t been there to intervene I fear it could have been so much worse. I apologise for swearing at one point I hope you forgive me I was very stressed!
This video covers last Saturday / Sunday in our lambing season. I’m putting out more content while it’s a busy time there’s lots to update on.
I love to read your comments I am a bit behind but I will read them all. Thank you for your support 😁❤️
This is why some livestock owners have livestock guardian dogs. They are with the flock all the time and will protect them from other dogs and threats.
100%
We have “unofficial” livestock guardian dogs (two German Shepherds and a Rottweiler stray we took in), with one Shepherd a d the Rottie on the “night shift.” We have mountain lions and the occasional stray dog and NOTHING gets by them.
@@rebeccariel2872 I hope they are behind a high fence. Those dogs aren't allowed to be free and unsupervised.
I have high drive working dogs (disaster recovery dogs) and often times work on land with livestock and other animals. I now own my own livestock so that I can train my dogs to leave them be and work without redirection. Even before this I would not allow any of my dogs to be so aggressive or out of control. I can't say all my dogs are good, but the ones that are not will never be off leed when I leave my property.
I am so sorry this is something you have to live with.
Exactly!
This happened up where a live and Scotland,2 dogs got lose and were chasing the sheep, the farmer shot both of them, was a mixed bag of views but a feel the farmer had the right to protect his livestock
It’s tragic when an animal has to die for its owner’s negligence, but the lives of two dogs still aren’t worth the lives & well-being of a whole flock
@@averycheesypotato I really hope you're not saying that two dogs' lives are worth more than a few dozen of sheep.
@@Kingdomall no? I said two dogs aren’t worth the lives & well-being of a flock- as in a dozen sheep are definitely worth more?
@@averycheesypotato okay I apologize for assuming. I get very passionate about this kind of thing
@@Kingdomall I get that it’s a controversial subject, but I think most people are still reasonable enough to see that a dangerous animal being a pet doesn’t make them untouchable.
Some individual dog owners are just out of control
We got a donkey and it worked. They will protect the livestock from dogs and any threat. Just a thought
The issue is that they don't make the difference between your own dog and "problem" ones >
I've got my mother-in-law and it worked too.
These owner should be taken to court and be made to pay compensation
Agree
No they shouldn’t. It’s your job to protect your sheep.
@@UnderstandingDarkness No, it's the Dog owner and handler's legal responsibility to keep the dog in close proximity, under control at all times, and to not allow it to trespass onto other people's land, especially fenced farm land with resident livestock on it. Any loss or damage their dog causes is the Owner's liability, which they can claim back from their dog walker, if that is the scenario.
@@rayasunchine Legality doesn’t keep sheep alive. Yes it’s the dog owners responsibility, but when they fail it’s ultimately your responsibility to protect your stock. Your choice; put up a fence and sleep well knowing your income is safe in a field or go to bed every night worrying if a dog is going to get in. That’s stressful to an unnecessary degree. Also, why would you EVER put the safety of your primary income in the hands of a neighbor who can’t control its dog? Just put up a fence. 🙄
@@UnderstandingDarkness Did you miss my first post in which I suggested fencing the nursery paddocks, which btw is thousands of dollars of capital outlay and hours of skilled labour requiring specialised equipment and handling heavy materials, which this couple may not have until after they sell some of their flock, if they have a good year. Logically, your argument has no legs for trespassing on private property; and is like telling everyone driving a vehicle on roads to wrap those in bubble wrap b/c one or two drivers refuse to follow the Law and might crash into them. The dog owner is breaking the law, the legal consequences are the Deterrent. Imo.
Sorry for the language but the police couldn't give a shit. Ive had this problem in the past to the extent that I was arrested for assault against someone who had separate dogs on consecutive years kill multiple lambs. I get very little trouble now that im known as the mad farmer on the hill. Very sad that it has to get to that . Good luck and all the strength you need❤
How can anyone be that stupid and not learn the first time.. one their dog killed an animal and two that's lost income for you..
There absolutely useless the police in supporting us farmers, do f all about helping with criminal damage, theives or those who harm livestock. Glad you no longer have to deal with the nonsense mate
@@bio7377 just got to deal with the fly tippers now⚰️😂
@@bio7377they're actually useless to anyone
Thats rough. Where I live the cops 100% sided with us when a neighbor's dog killed one of our barn cats outside of our barn. The cats are considered working animals so it's property damage.
We got some LGDs...some idiot with a dog in their truck was visiting FIL. Let their dog out running wild, dog ran right and through the pasture fence where our goats were....dog did not survive it's encounter with our LGD. Cops told him he was at fault.
Here in California if a dog is worrying or harming your livestock you as the owner have the right to dispatch the dog. People learn quickly that there are consequences to allowing their pets to terrorize and kill someone else’s animals for fun. I don’t know what your laws are like there but if it isn’t the case where you are things need to change, this is unacceptable.
It's the same here.
Yes, in Oregon too. The county will come out and put bait in your field too. One spring we lost 9 sheep. 😭 It was horrible. Dogs do it for sport.
Same where I live.
@@georgeEW108 Dogs do it because it's instctual and is for survival and further bred into them for specific breeds for specific jobs like ratting - not for sport, they're not humans and it's unfair to blame them for irresponsible owners. That would be like blaming a sheep or deer for eating chicks (they absolutely will eat meat if they come across it, it's free protein, despite their 99% plant diet and are well know for em to nibble on tern chicks) and calling it 'sport'. Animals are not humans, do not judge them as such.
The law is the same in the UK. But not all farmers want to run around with a rifle the whole day and train well enough to be sure of hitting the dog and not the sheep. And they can't be there all the time. People are idiots and think the bad thing will never happen to them. The number of times I've had people allow their dogs to chase after my horse, barking and jumping at her hind legs. This is not just dangerous for me but extremely dangerous for the dog; one well-placed kick from the horse could kill it. Does it stop these people? Nope.
I think tracking the owner, and handing him a control order is the right way forward. But you are right, there are too many irresponsible dog owners, and only by communicating with them can we change that. I remember seeing posters on bus shelters when I was a child, saying "Keep your dog on a lead in the countryside" and TV adverts, where are all them today... forgotten about??
"get your dog back now PLEASE!!!" I sure would not have been so polite! Yes you should get a GUARDIAN DOG!
Cami's video made it to the Scottish Parliment and was discussed in the house this week - some discussions need to be had about the UK's dog laws - look up NZ Dog Control Act 1996 - yes nearly 30 years ago we put in strict rules
@DeborahSch Good! I hope they disallow dog owners from walking in those spaces if they don’t have them leashed! Terrible dog and even more terrible owner! They need to either train their dog or give it to someone who will!
@@Hershewed it's not a terrible dog. It's a poor dog with a terrible owner, that will get their dog killed one day.
@@July-nj5sn my bad, I meant to say terrible person and even more terrible owner, sorry
My dog is broken to livestock....BUT if I happen to be near a field with livestock in....she's straight back on her lead....it only takes once...Had her out at a local(to me) park...Deer up next to the fence....no interest...other dogs...no interest...sheep/ lambs...ignored them....pigs...terrified of them....till she started whining and shaking....she had seen rats coming out from under a sleeping shelter, and wanted the rats...(she's a terrier)..she stayed on her lead till we were back at the car.....Common bloody sense x
Should be kept on the lead unless in your yard or home. You are part of the problem if you let them off the lead.
@@lonayork591 This is abusive dog ownership. Not everyone has a huge yard, and dogs need to be able to run around. However, obviously, the dog needs to be trained properly and put on a lead around livestock and if it doesn't have good recall, you need to find safe enclosed spaces to exercise it. And if people don't do that, they should be fined and banned from keeping dogs.
@@tfrtrouble idk where you're from, but letting dogs off-leash is highly illegal at my place, you get caught and have a big fat fine slapped onto you for doing so. even more if its a dangerous dog breed, if the dog needs to run get them a 20-ft leash, inconvenience, sure, however it at least guarantees control if your dog were to run off as you still have a say on how far or where they go.
Never let your dogs off-leash, EVEN IF trained. shit happens that you cant control, maybe another dog pisses yours off and they go attack, maybe they just dart off all of a sudden, maybe you dont pay enough attention and all of a sudden you dont know where your dog is..I have both my dogs trained to heel off-leash, but thats for emergencies if my leash snaps. otherwise, if outside, its leash-only.
@@turtal2595 I wonder where you're from that ever letting a dog off a leash, even at a park or beach or in the forests is illegal? Sounds terrible. Where I am in Europe, it is totally normal and legal too outside of built up areas as long as your dog is under control (which a leash doesn't guarantee for big dogs) and with the caveat that they can't go off leash in certain places during bird nesting time. I can't imagine a place where people have high-energy dogs like collies or shepherds and never allow them to stretch their legs and run, or play fetch. That is awful. Yes, there is always a small risk, but owning a dog at all is always a risk. Most children killed by dogs are attacked in their home or the home of someone they know. And lettings people drive cars in public areas is a waaaaay bigger risk.
@@tfrtrouble we have specific dog-friendly areas/parks where you can let them off leash, they’re fenced in and made safe for your pooch, but otherwise you’re really not supposed to have them off-leash.
The arrogance of these so-called responsible dog owners is dazzling. The fact that he's a local that should know better is even worse. I bet he's an entitled egotistical swine as well. In a common sense world the mongrel dog would be done away with and the owner fined and dealt with appropriately but it seems "common sense" is an extremely rare commodity worldwide nowadays. All any farmer wants is for their livestock to be safe in their grazing fields...a basic right I feel. On a different note Joanna you've got some excellent lambs. Well done.
Thank you Jeff, it’s a really frustrating world we live in nowadays isn’t it !
@@DaleFarmIt certainly is a frustrating world Joanna. All the best.
Jeff
- we have just got 2 thirds of the way through lambing. The weather is still pretty rubbish, rains within every 24 hours the last few days hail, cold wind and
Only a few degree above zero
@@DaleFarm I truly wish things were better for you Joanna but you are doing everything correctly and capably and nobody can do more than that.
Same here in Newfoundland, Canada, rain fog today although warm. Tomorrow we,God bless us, are getting high winds and 5 to 10cm snow. Your lambs are beautiful ❤❤.
Here’s the way we handle it. The owner gets one warning, two if the farmer is feeling polite. Other wise it is a known thing that if dogs attack they get shot and buried without report to the owner and the owner doesn’t ask around. Everyone assumes the dog was taken by coyotes.
It’s beyond frustrating when owners aren’t responsible for their dogs. We’ve lost chickens and it’s so maddening
A dog will be a dog, but some people should never be able to have them.
Makes my blood boil that livestock ends up being stressed to the max and even dying by loose dogs no matter where and when.
Are there no leash laws ?? Also, this is why dog owners must make sure their dog has total recall !! I would be terrified if I wasn’t around to monitor my sheep. Do you have any cameras around your fields, you obviously cannot trust these people who walk their dogs off leash. Last year Cammy (Sheep Game) put up signage everywhere about these situations and if memory serves me I think he installed some cameras as he rents property for some of his sheep. He had an incident recently, on I believe it was a field that his wife, Lizzie who herself is pregnant, had sheep (pregnant ewes) on.He chased down a dog ( did not kill it) and called the cops as well as spoke to the dogs owner. Shocking really that the dogs are permitted to be off leash like this. As a dog lover (You can see my photo) I cannot believe how stupid people are, recall is the absolue most important thing it is with having a dog because it can put the dog at risk for being hit by a vehicle or by being shot by someone. Where I have lived in Canada, there are leash laws so When walking my dog there was no issue, however on a couple of occasions I tripped and fell on the side of busy road while walking my Golden Retriever, yes he was on leash. I am clumsy, really clumsy. But, when I fell I dropped his leash and he went prancing along the path nonchalantly coming up to an intersection. I hollered “Come” and his name, and thank God he listened both times I fell. Nobody wants anybody or anything to be hurt. Now if you want to go off lead when hiking on trails and you aren’t worried about the wildlife fine. (We have no trails here where you walk through people’s fields)..
Get yourself a gun license only job 👍not fair
I was shouting at the computer whilst watching ur poor sheep been chased. Advice keep asking the police for an update, and make it public especially to 'the locals' that u are getting a fire arm....stay strong xxx
Livestock guardian dogs OR… a donkey… donkeys are excellent flock protectors! Straight up!
Some people just don't get it, they think the dog is playing. Idiots don't let them get away with it.
These are the same people whose pit bulls maul children but then claim that “he’s an angel”.
Even in neighborhoods here in the US people let their dogs go loose all the time. I have traps and I started calling the police and animal control. I’m done with this crap over here! Most people who let their dogs run loose are GIANT A HOLES!
I am afraid to walk my own dog in my neighborhood now because of so many off-leash dogs. Had one come running up to my dog and I had to play physical barricade, while the owner went “it’s ok, he’s friendly!” It’s not ok! MY dog is NOT friendly! People are so dumb.
One of our elderly farmers was badly injured trying to protect his livestock from a 2 dog attack.
guard dogs are probably a big expense to keep but maybe helpful sometimes.
Great Pyrenees is the top I my opinion.
@@susangardiner Kangals or Anatolian shepherds do a fine job, too, Akbash would also do a good job. However my top pick would definitely be a Caucasian shepherd
@@turtal2595they use all of those where I live to guard against cougar and wolves as well as coyote and rogue bears. They do the trick.
A guard dog pays for itself same as any well brought sheperd dog. I am puzzled they don't have one. As for a the cost is the same as for every animal, food and veterinary checks.
This happened at my place of work almost 20 years ago. The farm is located right outside a neighborhood, and one of the neighbors left their three dogs to roam for 2 weeks while on vacation, under the assumption that the dogs would find their own food. The dogs killed all the chickens, two of the three goats, most of the rabbits, and mauled our sheep and bigger goat. The dogs were caught in a trap and bit my boss on the arm, refusing to let go. The dogs were quickly euthanized, and the owners were charged with mistomeanor animal cruelty and banned from owning animals for life. This was before animal cruelty became a federal felony. The dogs’ human parents told the court they were not in the wrong and that it was natural to “let dogs be dogs”. It disgusts me to this day.
Maybe put a notice up that cameras are up and filming and they will be sued for damages if their dogs are caught chasing sheep?
Good idea
That doesnt always stop em..
Its like signs saying "private land"..
Some farmer near me had to put "smile you're on camera" on all his gates near the roadside, didnt stop the beggers from dumping things though, even had a fire spread at one point
Do you watch Cammy from Sheep Game. He is a sheep farmer and former policeman. He put up signs saying that there was a documentary being filmed on the land and that dog owners should come forward and say why their dog doesn't need to be on a lead.
People have no common sense. Don't have a dog if you can't be responsible. Walk the dogs somewhere else. It's not the dogs fault it's the owners.
So glad to hear Bambi has accepted both of her lambs this time.
Yes! Delighted
Great Pyrenees sheep guard dog. Check this breed out.
Watching that dog run the sheep and lunge at their necks was scary. Oh my goodness, that would have gone brutally wrong if you were not there. I pray the ewes will be ok as they are heavy with lambs. People who allow their dogs off leads should be ashamed of themselves and prepared to financially provide compensation if their dog attacks the sheep. Tsk ignorant dog owners for sure.
I understand that you are not allowed to have a livestock gardian dog in the U.K. When I had sheep here in Canada I had a Jenny donnkey in with my sheep. They ar excellent guardian's, they will attack an chase anything tha threatehs the sheep., here in Canada they will attack kill coyotes, which are the biggest threat to sheep here.
another Canadian here, Great Pyrenees I know are common here, in Newfoundland, they seem to like alpacas but there aren’t many coyotes or wolves on the Rock but there are lots of foxes 🦊
Livestock guardian dogs are not allowed? Do you know why? I don't understand why it would be a bad thing.
Derbyshire Police failed me terribly in the traumas inflicted on me. The Owners should be banned because letting an out-of-control Dog let Ewes abort/miscarry lambs is truly disgusting. Great seeing the Triplets at the end & You should be compensated by the Owners very thoroughly. xx
I'm afraid there's a number of dog owners that believe their dogs can do no wrong and let them run loose. Sorry this is happening to you. Thanks for the video. All the best 🇬🇧.
I have neighbors that are ignorant dog owners.
You can hear the dog whistle that it’s clearly not responding to. Poor training from the owner.
E collor might work better
You should do what Cammy did from the sheep game he ran a dog over that was chasing his sheep
Bingo

Jesus Christ that’s someone’s pet! Running over a dog is as cruel as letting them worry sheep.
@@Queenofgreen515why? Why should a farmer have to stand by when an out of control dog attacks his animals? I saw the video from Cammy @ The Sheep Game, he ran over the dog with a gator, it survived with little to no injuries. This is the 3rd or 4th attack Cammys sheep have suffered in this lambing season, thankfully no fatalities this year.
@@TeenieBee72yeah I think it only had a broken leg
If you can’t control your pet/animal and it’s harassing or endangering my livestock aka my lively hood. Unfortunately it’s getting lead poisoning. Which is a shame because it’s always the pet that pays the price of a bad owner.
JHi Joanna,
It's unbelievable that it's happened again. Dogs worrying sheep. You would think that people would keep their dog's on leads when near to sheep. It doesn't matter how good or trained a dog is, there's always that one chance of something happening. I hope the rest of the season goes well, you have some really nice lambs...😃👍🏻
If someone went in and took 300 400 a week out there wage they wouldn’t be long to complain same with your sheep it your livelihood
To be honest, just get yourself a farm dog...a pyrenees dog for all that matter and youll be saving yourself the trouble...
Very sorry to hear you’ve gone through this again. It’s outrageous. Best wishes from our small sheep farm in Wales.
Wow all those triplets are beautiful. Jesus not another dog having your help. It’s dreadful to think that there are such irresponsible dog owners (I love dogs by the way) they should have to pay a fine and made to keep their dog on a leash. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for your support xx
Get your dog back now please? that's not what I'd be saying Joanna. So sorry you have this trouble, sheep farming is hard enough.
That dog would not have made it out of my field....... its a bloody disgrace
You might want to consider livestock guardian dog that lives with your ewes
No dog should be off lead, where livestock are and especially now....i have a greyhound (i don't know if he'd chare livestock but would take the chance) and i would not put him or any livestock at risk.... this is downright inconsiderate if the dog owner, should be charged
What planet do theses people live on, just shows how ignorant people are. They just don't care end of!!!. Your certainly having a time of it.Lets hope things get better take care 😊.
I had the same problem today for the 4th time this month even though I have signs up asking people to keep dogs on leads. I almost lost a cow and calf today because of a similar incident. As i ran towards the dog owner he just ran off and made no attempt to call the dog
😡
is the one sheep, that lost control of it's back legs ok? the dog owner needs to pay for the ewe that got harmed
Excellent video again thanks for sharing farmers shouldn't have to put up with during lambing time in my opinion the law for foot paths should be cancelled for or near farm land
Honestly this is so maddening. Peopel are so ignorant and i cannt ever believe why they just dont give a toss about the sheep - that dog owner would be the first one to cry about his dog being shot for this yet somehow doesnt give a damn about the sheep or lambs
You are right dog owners need to keep their dogs on a lead they are totally irresponsible and selfish
Thank you
Joanna and Nick that dog attack was terrible ,really irresponsible people. Here in Ireland we have very strick dog controll laws which really give farmers alot of protection from dog attacks ,but unfortunately they still happen.
Yes people are irresponsible! Sadly

This dog was the same one that attacked your sheep a year ago. I just saw your video from last year. Absolutely time to get a licence and get rid of the dog.
stop being nice jo. get the law in. no messing and try and get your hands on a thing you can carry made of metal that makes noise. you work hard enough .

I was waiting for the BANG
I am so sorry that you all are going through this with unleashed dogs in your fields full of pregnant ewes. Let alone also with ewes and their lambs. People are careless with their dogs. They may be great pets but when a dog is off leash they often go feral with other animals and dogs.
Maybe put signs on the fence line saying, “keep your dogs leashed or they will be shot if they are chasing livestock”. But harming is not in your heart and it shows you are a true animal lover. ❤️Maybe a livestock guardian dog will be a route to take. They can watch the sheep in any weather and 24/7. The LGD will be your security and your extra eyes. Hope things will be better for you all. ❤️🙏🏽
I can't believe that people don't know about dogs and sheep. Can you put notices up? Time for a public information campaign.
Dog owners are well aware. In my opinion it’s that they simply don’t care
That's OTHER dogs. THEIR dogs would NEVER do something like that. 🙄🤨😡
I do strongly believe a Livestock dog could help you get the dog under control! They bond so well with the herd they are put it! Good luck!
bad thing with the dog some people just do not seem to care I hope you get it sorted and get money from him you would think he would at lest say sorry strange people take care you guys Rx
The dog, terrible!! It knew to attack sheep. Grrr But! The lambs were so cute! Especially the 4 lying against the fence. Thanks for sharing your beautiful farm.
I don't own sheep but I have a border collie and everyday I walk im sad to see so many self righteous selfish irresponsible people who run thier dogs offload in areas that clearly dogs are required to be on lead. Mine is always on lead being just as reactive as I am.
@ Dale Farm, not a farmer but love ❤ seeing the little lambs. So sweet. What about a Guard Dog like a Great Pyrenees Sheepdog. They blend in with most sheep ( they’re white ). I’m Canadian and seem to notice more and more of the breed around. The last province I lived, thee was a breeder just outside the city.
I know earlier this month, Lizzie, Cammy Wilson’s, wife herself 30 weeks pregnant, had a dog in her field of pregnant ewes. (CZcams Cammy Sheep Game)
Hi , yes I saw the sheep game video , really shocking behaviour
I've heard alpacas, and llamas will fight off predators. I got to help an alpaca farmer with a few shearing days, and was told there was an alpaca who chased off a mountain lion. Alpacas might look cute but they have a feisty streak. They also have really good aim with their hooves.
Can you get some Anatolian Shepherds or Great Pyranees for herd protection?
I think you should get some guard donkeys! I think this would help you.
I don't know if that's practical in your area, but have you considered life stock guardian dogs? They live with the life stock (whatever that is, sheep, cows, goats... you name it), they get trained to stay in their entrusted area/property and they deal with whatever predator posing a threat to the life stock apropriately.
It might be worth scattering some grass seed while the ground is still damp or if you get chance scatter and chain harrow before it goes the other way and sets like rock. Something else to keep you busy 😜
Compensation makes sense but I sadly don’t think unless the person did it out of goodwill you could claim 😢
that is absolutely terrifying and disgusting that the dog owner allowed that, I saw that happen on Cammy's farm, The Sheep Game, and Cammy had to run the bloody dog over just to get it to stop (dog was fine) and then Cammy felt bad about having to do that, and that dog was also not on a leash and they were on private property. Your mention of a firearm ... I remembered thinking that when I watched that happen on Cammy's channel that if it were in the US that dog would have been shot immediately. do what you need to do to protect your animals
God it's terrible! Some ppl should never have dogs!
Never rely on the police to sort this out. Unfortunately They're more concerned with people being "offended" these days.
Absolutely awful 😔 i feel for you and the livestock. Hope the owner has the sense to keep that dog on a lead.
Thank you x
3:00 is nick always this calm and poised?
Wait do you work with the sheep game!?
They use llamas to protect sheep from wolves. Maybe you need a llama in each field...
Donkeys can work too
So do Great Pyrenees sheepdogs - really good at guarding sheep from attackers. Common in North America.
This happened when I was on holiday. Next to a play park there was a 'rock' wall/fence and there was like llamas and sheep in there; Over the wall was a little path, a dog jumped over and started herding them. I feel bad for you, maybe try get livestock guard dogs? They will help and that means no shooting dogs :D
In the US here where I live. Dogs going after the cattle with calves, goats with kids, and pregnant females of both. The farmers make an effort first time to chase off and find owners. Second time, if they know the owners, call the owners, otherwise scare off with a few loud noises. Third time, no owner dogs find themselves in a bad position, owned dogs get owners' called again with last warning. Fourth time with owner dogs, bad times. The dogs can cause miscarriages, injure the mamas and or babies, unalive babies, and in general cause more problems than is easily handled by the farmers of the harried livestock.
I'm in Canada, we have Maremma's on my farm and have had a GP mix also. They stay with the flock and that loose dog wouldn't have strayed for long. LGD's are loyal and good with their family.
I can't believe the owner of the dogs that can't walk a dog out of the lid. They are pregnant ewe the stress for the fram owner and the sheep 🐑 I'm agree with you the dogs owner needs to be more responsible for the on dog. I'm agree with you 💯 this is disgusting about the dogs owner they could walk the dog on his land. The damages to the farmer owner they no realise 😢😢 breaking my heart 💔
It’s very upsetting, the ignorance of some
owners often trust their dogs way, way too much. they think they're playing and that they couldn't do any harm. little do they know that some dogs, especially untrained, are completely capable of killing large animals.
Couldn't agree more with your curse words and I am surprised you were able to put it up on youtube considering its strict policies.
Loads of people swear on CZcams but you can’t show a sheep lambing up close !
I know life can be tough, but is there any way that you Section these ewes to protect. Also what the heck are other peoples dogs doing on your property. Is it fenced in or open
My dog will chase anything that runs, so he's always on a leash.
👍👌❤️🇨🇦, such disrespectful dog owners.
The dog was trespassing into your property, so was the owner allowing him to. I don't know if the police even care, though, they don't care about anything, anymore!
My uncle had sheep and cattle on his ranch in Texas, but he had 2 sheepdog, they help to keep the sheep safe.
Not trespassing in britain people have freedom to roam but it does require responsibility
@@susanb4816 Not true. It IS trespassing, but its a civil matter not a criminal one, so the police cant do anything.
Scotland has right to roam, but not England.

Just out of curiosity, why are livestock guardian dogs not utilized more in the UK? For context, I live in a rural farming area of California and everyone who has sheep or goats also has at least one Great Pyrenees or Anatolian Shepherd. The farmers who keep cattle typically don’t have a LGD but they do have a rifle just in case a dog attacks their livestock.
In the UK there are no other predators to worry about. Livestock Guardian breeds can get bored and actually end up attacking the animals they should be protecting because they don't have enough work to keep them occupied. Buying a Livestock Guardian puppy (not cheap) and putting all the effort into training it for the very rare occasion when someone passing by can't control their dogs doesn't seem like an economic solution.
@@jg5755 thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I know very little about the UK, and couldn’t find anything on a quick Google search. Much appreciated❤️
Seething is an understatement about this happening again...
Just so your aware Cam from the other channel has had mps debate this in parliament it might also be worth mentioning this to your local MPs the more that raises these issues with farmers from all over the country the more members that will have to attend the parliament session to debate it and if all the MPs are raising the same concerns people will have to leash there dogs near all live stock.

Great to see all those lambs bouncing around in the field 😊. Weathers just broken and we’ve got rain this aft 😩.
It proper sucks having another dog chasing the sheep, especially from a “local” as well. Nicks doing right pushing the dog off with the gator (think a bit of blue pipe would be good there as well) interesting to hear the dog whistle going for both attacks🤔 wonder if they think they have full control with it(obviously not!) disappointing not hearing from the police this time… maybe chase it up later on?
I wonder if putting a sing up saying 'live stock guardian dog on duty beware' or something to that effect might help.
I have a border collie, and I would never let him off the leader. By any livestock as dogs naturally like to chase things. People are stupid at times. A dog should have a good recall as and stay
It starts as a game and the get a taste for it which leads to serious stuff.
Holy crap!! My dog is scared of my sheep!! And my dog is a 70lbs boxer, my sheep are harmless katahdins. I take my dog out to play and run in the pasture. She will zoom by the sheep and occasionally stop to pounce at them but she RUNS the other way if they stop grazing to look up at her lol. **My dog also ALWAYS wears her shock collar when I take her out so I can beep her if she gets too close**
Owner needs a shock collar to keep their dog in line?
I know it's more work jo/nick but any boundary walls/fences with footpaths need barbed wire along the tops ideally a strand either side of each post.
Its getting out of control, i am just going to say this as i see it, 4 yrs ago we was in lockdown and so many people bought dogs who really arnt fit to have dogs, they were bought to over come boardem of lockdown and then when we all got let out the dogs where neglected, these dogs are now 3 - 4 yr old young fit n healthy and strong but sad to say most are way out of control,, i know this is a expense but put some signs up at access points stating that dogs in amongst sheep may possibly shot !! Its time more farmers started exercising there right to dispatch of problem dogs to protect there lively hood, its the only way these people who think there dog is just having fun will learn ,, i know of 3 dogs that have been dispatched off this last month and one was on its 3rd visit from a caravan site ,,
I am a dog owner and I agree with you 💯
Doris is amazing mom hugssss
As a dog owner I hate owners like this.
Like all times of year when going in places I know or even don't know but suspect there's a chance of livestock being there then I keep mine on leash.
And when it's lambing season while I want to visit a new spot (like Pendle hill) I go once by myself before to check which fields are being used for lambing abd the size of them before coming back with my dog.
Like I checked out Pendle hill and one of the routes takes you through a pretty narrow bit of field (maybe 20m wide at most) that's got ewes with lambs in so now I know when I go back in a couple of days to take the other route I checked which you only have a short walk through a field with ewes (like less then 10m).
Maybe I'm extra cautious especially as mine isn't overly reactive to livestock (doesn't make noise or pull on leash just perks up and watches them) but when there's lambing ewe's and young lambs I'd rather not risk him deciding he's gonna make a big fuss (yeah he's on leash but don't want him pulling or making noise) as lambs are a regular meal for him (I have a good relationship with a farmer near home and he gives me still borns and others that die young as I feed my dog raw and means he doesn't have to dispose them).
It seems intentional, like the dog owner sees your farm as a dog park.
I’d defo look into livestock guardian dogs.
They aren’t super common in the Uk but I’d defo look into them.
They can wander the area with the livestock and all that.
All you need to do is teach them to respect your livestock and lambs.
Also so annoying people don’t leash their dogs around livestock, they are just stupid people who think their dogs won’t have instincts to chase small things or noisy things.
Joanna used the F word. Maybe she's just human afterall.❤
❤️🐑
your first mistake was assuming law enforcement will do anything. Take it on yourself. Think outside the box, some humans need to learn the hard way
Best law that could be passed is ALL dogs on leads at ALL times, as owners are so stupidly irresponsible. You can get long training leads for when there is space to let it out longer but the dog is never completely loose to cause trouble. Our Patterdale is never off a generous lead and is quite happy. Farmers need to carry a gun and deal with the dog as they did before. I think far more people would keep their dog on a lead then!
I think you are right !
The public are so irisponsible with there dogs . One off the lead , most dogs have a mind of their own , and return when they want .
