Mod creator here with some updates on the mod:
This mod was originally supposed to be a shitpost more than anything, but it’s turned into a huge learning experience, before this I knew little about scripting, blender, unity and coding. I am a huge sound guy, sounds make or break a simulation for me, and that’s particularly what I wanted to focus on.
I’ve been working on it for about 3 months now, usually when I get home from work, and do some chores around the house, I hop in and pick up where I left off. Theres a multitude of scripting that’s taking place with this mod, as I am disappointed in railroaders poor implementation of diesel power. I set out to make this mod more engaging, and more prototypical within the confines of the game.
The prime mover script was the hardest thing to get working, but it sure pays off.
I plan to release this as a free mod, and will also allow anyone to download and utilize the scripts for their own mods as well.
The texturing is terrible, I am not an artist, and I am not good with textures, if anyone wants to lend a hand, I would be grateful as they are lacking compared to the features this model has.
Typically daily I add or revise scripts, adding neat little nuanced features here and there. Most recently the prime mover script now implements startup and shutdown audio, brake feed valve simulation and working on implementing a working airflow gauge in the blank spot on the control stand.
Railroader is a great game and the coding that was put into it really goes into great depths, there are all sorts of data that’s calculated behind the scenes, I’ve been working on pulling that data and implementing it, such as the ammeter.
I don’t have a projected time frame for the mods release, but I hope to have it ready soon. I plan on releasing a long hood forward, and a high hood variation of the Geep as well.
I am open to suggestions on the next locomotives to implement.

This thing looks awesome can’t wait for it. I hope eventually we’ll get to see a GP30 and vanilla addition for dynamic brakes
Dynamic brakes would be a nice addition. Sadly, the Devs confirmed that they aren’t pushing any diesel updates until after the full release of the game. Maybe the modding community will figure it out.
