  • Got the opportunity to try out my buddy Stan's new Harley Benton MB5 SBK before he did! Was it as good as the PB 20 SBK I bought for myself? Are Harley Benton making budget basses with good bang for your buck? Check out my previous video here:

    Thanks Sir. Nice vid and great metal playing!
    I am still waiting for mine, so looking forward. I think they are little miracles for the price! Stingray killer no 1 for me and I got a real one. Have a good time

    I have 2 Musicman basses. Aside from the pick guard, this thing looks badass

    When I hit the road, I always bring this as a back up, even as a main for some songs. The low range intonation was HORRIBLE - this is a chronic Harley Benton problem. I had to shave the nut quite a bit in order to get the perfect intonation all through the fretboard.
    But hey, this thing is a freakin banger for less than 150.

    Cool video! I bought a sunburst MM MB4 the other night when I was PISSED. It arrives tomorrow. I don´t even play bass - but a good friend had her bass nicked years ago .. so I´ll let her have it. 😎 I actually have a 1983 EBMM Cutlass on my bench for a service .... so will make a comparison tomorrow. Hopefully I´ll remember to hit RECORD !
    Letcha know how we get on!!! Cheers from Madrid

    Annihilator is one of my favorite bands that I grew up with and played a lot of on bass and some guitar..Jeff waters is hard to keep up with tho lol. Nice demo and good sound on such an economical bass. I sub'd your channel.

    If they added a battery compartment and fixed the string-spacing it would be a killer mod-platform.

    amazing!!! gotta buy absolutely but now looks like it's unavailable on thomann :(

      Maybe temporarily out of stock but it's definitely available now www.thomann.de/be/harley_benton_mb_5_sbk_deluxe_series.htm (sorry if this gets flagged as spam because of the url).
      I like the idea of separate volumes for the coils but I'd prefer just one volume for the whole pickup. I heard somewhere that maybe they had the control plates and just needed some pots for all three holes, otherwise it could have been just one volume. Sounds pretty convincingly Stringrayish even without a preamp.

    I noticed that you listed the price in Canadian dollars and was wondering if there were any import/duty fees that you encountered when you ordered? Thanks for posting this, very curious about these basses.

    • @None_More_Metal
      @None_More_Metal  Před 2 lety +1

      Duty to Canada was under $50. If you go to the Thomann website they'll show you the price in any currency you want.

    What does this thing weigh and does it have any neckdive?

    • @None_More_Metal
      @None_More_Metal  Před 2 lety

      No neck dive but it's pretty heavy. Haven't weighed it but it's hefty.

    • @GreyManFaustus
      @GreyManFaustus Před 2 lety

      @@None_More_Metal Interesting, I expected it to be rather light because of the basswood body. But as long as there's no neck dive, I'm willing to give it a shot - I own a Squier VMod Jazz, which weighs a fuckton, but I still had to add ultralight tuners and a high mass bridge to keep the headstock from bruising my feet. Wouldn't want to do that again.

  • @curtisbentzen3176
    @curtisbentzen3176 Před 2 lety

    so... the pickup is actually 2 single coils ...each one has a volume,,,noisey like a jazz bass until both volumes are equal.....i believe when both volumes are equal, it actually is a humbucker..
