  • How would I build a Taycan if I had a 100K or less to spend! Which options you should be adding!?! With the recent release of the Porsche Taycan there is a lot of buzz about which options are most important. In this video I cover what options I would add to a Taycan but I set a limit of 100K! I am very excited to get my hands on this newly released Taycan variant! Current vehicle on sale date in the U.S. is set for March 26th 2021... is subject to change based on EPA approval! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions about options on your next Porsche Taycan! Thank you for watching! See you in the next one!

    I'm sorry, but this a a typical beginner/outsider configuration.
    1. There are no 400V 150kW chargers in North America. They are either 400V 50kW or 800V 150kW, so you just wasted $460. -$460
    2. Don't cheap out on the Wheel Center Caps with Colored Porsche Crest. Every Porsche owner will know you're a first timer with black and white emblems. +$190
    3. Same with windows trim, you want it in gloss black. +$400
    4. Race Tex steering wheel over GT steering wheel for sportyness any time, especially with integrated heating. But requires sport chrono. +$1810 (optional)
    5. Premium package is not worth it: Only upgrade lights if you go for matrix, else save the money. Ionizer is a total waste, it does nothing more than the standard air purifier. Rest is personal choice, but I'd lose most of the package (no fixed roof, you want the LCD roof or none. No CLA. No seat ventilation, go for massage instead to use during charging stops if you need 14 way seats because of the memory. Storage package only if you really need the handbag space in the center.). -$7080 +$1290 (seats, optional) +$1490 (pano roof, optional) +$800? (bose) +$1200 (surround view) +$500 (ambient light) sum: -$1800 up to -$4580
    6. No adaptive cruise control on a car after 2020? Impossible to resell! Just take InnoDrive, it includes lane keep assist (not CLA!) +$2050 or +$3610
    7. Since the charging cable comes from the front in most cases and the charge cover opens in that general direction, you must not forget the electric charge port cover. +$640
    8. The Mobile Charger Connect is not worth the upgrade from the Mobile Charger Plus. Side note: DO NOT put a zip tie on the charging cable (or wind it up in general)! You are creating a coil effect, heating up the cable that can(!) lead to cable fire. Best case you just waste energy. -$1120
    So you end up between $97,120 and $101,460 depending on seats and pano roof.

    I saw the Taycan in Ice Grey Metallic yesterday and loved it. Not. a fan of white or black.
    Trying to decide between the 20” Sports Aero Wheels and 20” Taycan Turbo Aero wheels.
    The Performance Battery Plus is a must for me.
    I liked the Sports Chrono Package for the addition of the Sport + mode but may eliminate as I am not sure how often I would actually us it.
    Unclear on Air Suspension as to what the advantages are and when I would use it.

      @Pcarwhisperer  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks Tom! 😊 Anytime! Oh yes... the Ice Grey Metallic is an excellent option 👍🏼 Have not seen the 20" Sport Aero Wheels in person but they looks very cool! Yes I am sure with those longer trips you will be taking the bigger battery is key! The sport chrono does not do as much on the Taycan as the other models... in conjunction with the Adaptive Air Suspension it will go to the lowest setting, turn on the electric sport sound if equipped, will put the battery into performance mode for better temperature regulation and put the traction control into performance mode as well! I found my favorite mode on any Porsche is the sport mode with Sport Plus generally being to aggressive for the street! The main advantage of Air suspension with PASM is to be able to raise and lower the car and tune in the dampening to make it stiffer or more of a comfort setting! 👍🏼

    How does the Porsche Intelligence Range Manager option differ from the Porsche Route Planner (I believe this is the correct term) that comes standard?

    • @Pcarwhisperer
      @Pcarwhisperer  Před 2 lety

      Hi Shavonn great question! The Porsche Intelligence Range Manager..automatically optimizes the route if the destination can be reached more quickly by making fewer charging stops while at the same time limiting the maximum speed by switching into "Range" Mode". The intelligence manager can calculate if less stops will be needed by changing drive modes to limit speed, A/C and overall power draw from the vehicle. The Route planner will calculate the route with the appropriate stops not taking into account if there is a way to limit time by stop less frequently or by limiting the vehicles speed. Hope this helps!

      Hi Dan! Great question....all vehicles that get delivered to a Porsche dealer in the US are US spec cars following all the laws and regulations. If you wanted a right hand drive Taycan you would have to order one from a U.K. dealer, take delivery in the U.K. (most likely pay cash for the car as here in the U.S. lenders do not allow exporting vehicles) have the car shipped to the U.S. then going through the importing process. Would be quite the tough feat and very time consuming but it would be possible. 👍🏼

      That more-capable DC voltage converter option sells for $460. So, it’s a good thing it isn’t really needed. Even the wealthy count their spare change.
      That option isn’t needed because essentially every DC charging station in North America capable of putting out greater than 50 kW is already able to put out power at “800V” so the Taycan’s default 400V 50 kW converter limitation doesn’t apply.

    I am a few days from my lock date for the Taycan and there is a major rift in my household over color. I found a survey completed of "most favored porsche colors" that leans toward "frozen blue" (behind guards red, which is not available in this model). Wonder what others think about this? I've had a blue 911 for 12 years and looking to move away from the dark colors, which always look dirty. Hope my family can survive whatever choice is ultimately made.

      Oh boy color can definitely be quite the debate! My most recent favorite colors are Ice Grey Metallic and Neptune Blue! They are on complete sides of the spectrum but both look killer on the Taycan! If you want to move away from dark I would go with Ice Grey Metallic... now it does depend on what color you have chosen for the interior? What kind of 911?!

    • @ianrodneylazarus
      @ianrodneylazarus Před 2 lety

      @@Pcarwhisperer here is my feeling about "Ice Grey Metallic" and all its derivatives. First we could save a lot of effort and simply call it "silver," or "more expensive silver." The silver DeLorean, followed by the movie "Back to the Future" inspired two generations to put a ton of silver cars on the road. It ruined the color for me. I like the Neptune Blue alot but I cant bring myself to spend so much $ on cosmetics when there are so many other decent options offered. So currently I am looking at Frozen Blue outside and blue/black Racetex on the inside. I've only found this combo on the configurator and need to see Racetex in person, which I hope to do soon (any opinions/info on racetex would be appreciated). I also like the black/white leather interior but am concerned I've heard that clothes can transfer color to the white seats, so they need to be protected. Defaulting to all grey leather is my "Plan C" at this point, but it changes on a daily basis. My 911S was a 2006 cab in midnight blue and black leather interior, I drove it 12 years and so really looking for as dramatic non-silver change as I can find!

    Should I remove Sports Crono and Adaptive Air Suspension for the Performance Battery Plus? Great video!

      Thank you 🙏🏼 If more range is important to you than yes! You will still be able to stiffen the ride of your Taycan with the standard suspension just won't be able to raise and lower! Sports Chrono I believe on the Taycan isn't a must! 👍🏼

    I ordered mine RWD as:
    Frozen Blue
    19" Aero Wheels
    Slate gray
    Performance battery 93.4hW
    On-board 150kWh charger
    Heater seats
    Folding mirrors
    Rear steering wheels
    Air suspension
    InnoDrive
    And some minor not necessary features as color designation.
    No glass roof or additional display.
    Porsche Intelligence Range Manager is not helpful, there are better apps available, I would save the money for something else.
    Removing the InnoDrive it falls under 100k.

    it's not the EPA who's giving the low numbers, it's Porsche who only wants it at that low #.

    • @Pcarwhisperer
      @Pcarwhisperer  Před 3 lety

      When at Porsche Taycan training a little over a year ago we were taught it was the EPA that was testing the vehicles and getting this low of number and were encouraged to use other test such as AMCI or WLTP as these use different methodologies and testing procedures than the EPA when testing. Porsche is typically conservative but I don't believe they would want this low of test numbers with regards to range... especially when other manufactures are getting "higher" EPA range numbers it doesn't necessarily look good for those that one want to jump from another BEV and used to higher range. AMCI is significantly more accurate in terms of real world range on the Taycan though an array of drive modes and topography. See AMCI testing protocol below. Thanks for commenting Greg!

    In Thailand Taycan RWD start price at 200k usd. Because we have to pay tax to the government.
    This is not fair for us. In poor country porsche 3 times more expensive than Europe and US. but USA and Europe have 5 times more salary than us.
    I have a plan to buy one but I feel sad when look at the price comparison. I should get a Turbo S. but in Thailand I can only afford RWD.
    When Thailand people look at the super car USA and Europe price we think it's very cheap.

    The RWD-only Taycan isn't worth it. You won't be happy with its poor acceleration. You want at least the 4S.

      @joshua trees No. The 4S is just SUPER FUN to drive! The base model? Not so much. I buy Porsches because they're fun to drive. I currently own three: an air-cooled 911, a Macan GTS, and an old Cayenne.
