I’ve always loved the exotic look of theses ferns they look like living modern art to me. Thanks for the video, I have one I want to divide. Now I have the confidence. Wish me luck.
This is sooooooooooo much better than the video where the guy cut into it like a piece of cake I almost died.
My mom has two huge ones in her yard. One is over 8 feet in diameter. When I go back to south Florida, I’ll try your method of removing the pups. My son cut them off and made boards or old wooden windows and gave them to family and friends. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks very informative from South Africa 🇿🇦
Great class. Thank you!
Thank you for the tips!
Excellent info thank YOU
My staghorn was doing beautifully…we than had severe winds that were so drying… I brought it inside and think I over compensated in watering…started dropping all its fronds😩😱…took it out of its pot..yep..soil was very wet… no mold but hope I can save this baby! Love all kinds of ferns…but staghorns are just so dare cool!
I know this is an older video, but it's very helpful. Thanks. I had my Staghorn mounted onto a piece of driftwood, but eventually, she started looking very sad. I suspect I suffocated the root ball because it felt packed too tight. Upon inspecting the underside of the shield, there was a thick but short main root. I've now transplanted her into a pot with some airy chunkier medium. How likely is it that she'll recover?
I would like to transplant mine , it is about 5 yrs old and I keep it on my back deck which is covered, the fern is in a wired basket and the shield prawns have grown around the wire , how do I separate it without damage the plant .
It has been very interesting ,thank you !
Help, I purchased a stag horn fern in a hanging basket that was planted in dirt. I have had this for approx 4 months. It was beautiful and lush and weekly I have lost fron after fron. At the base of the fron it turns brown and drops off. I have this plant in a bathroom to try to create humidity for it and it is off to the side of an east facing window that has had opaque window privacy film so it does not get excessive light. What is causing my stems to die off at their base. I only water when it is dried out every few weeks. I am ready to trash what is left but just can not bring my self to do it. This is just an impossible plant for me to grow!!!!! Check for any type of pests and see none. Please advise or to the landfill it goes.
Would like more specific instructions I.e. - which type of sphagnum moss? And which variety of Staghorn is this? Thanks
Original audio is good
The microphone audio has a lot of “gain”… I don’t know if there’s a way to turn it down in post (in editing)
ooo also, if you have a potted stag that clearly has say two small pups joined together by the base frond(directly next to each other) and are going to take it out of the pot and mount, how do you know which area to mount to the board? I got one off of etsy and it is a bifurcadum. I am searching for the base frond but I cannot find just one. There are two and they are verticle facing flat sides to each other. I am scared to death to seperate but I do not think it would be its happiest in a pot of dirt.
I wonder if we could see the mother plant? I'm in Canada and wouldn't be able to come over to see it myself!
I live in Sedona and we get snow. What are the temperatures ranges that require you to bring them inside
Are they sensitive to water above 50 ppm or is there a certain amount of tds (total dissolved solids) they'll withstand?
Why would I put the soil from my potted small one onto the board I’m mounting it too. That sounds like a mess when watering it
💚💚💚
I just got to stage horns and they are very dry I don't no how to look at her them I really would love and to care for them would u help me grow them please
I have a staghorn fern that I have had for a while still doesn't have a shield. What is wrong.
Howdy! I would KILL to get one of your staghorn pups! I have always wanted one. I am curious as to how you fertilize a mounted stag?
Is there any different Care for different species?
Thoughts on putting ferns in a wall mounted grow bag?
Is distilled water used for Staghorn ferns or tap water?
Good Morning. How do you water staghorn fern plants in pots at home.
I've had mine for about a year. It's indoors in a bright location about 10 feet from a west facing sliding glass door. I spray the fronds about once a week with tap water in a spray bottle. Growing like crazy. My understanding is they absorb moisture from their environment through the “fuzz” on their fronds. Learning now about feeding them with bananas. Hope this is helpful. Best of luck!
Thank you jostewart7446
Talkative!
Does the fern absolutely need to be mounted. I want to assort this plant in with my house plants
No you don’t have to mount them…especially if you’re in a arid or semi-arid area.I’ve kept mine in pots for years at times.
I’ve had one for a couple years now and it doesn’t really grow. Same 3-4 leaves it always had. Grows a new shield frond periodically.
It would help if you showed the table right from the beginning
In Adelaide do the banana peel on the stag horn
I went to purchase one and they were charging $99.00 for one like you mounted,I walked away
Those birds 🐦hahaha
The birds screaming as soon as you start explaining the stag horn anatomy has me 😂
Quiet crow!🤨😂
Audio too low
Does she ever answer anyones questions????
Yes, she does answer questions, but we can only answer a certain amount of questions during the livestream. However, you're always free to leave them down in the comments and we'll answer them as soon as possible!
Yet look at ALL the unanswered questions… but this is the one you answer? hmm….
No mic is better
