Very helpful, thanks! 2016 Volvo S60 T5, no options. But.. I screwed up. The first terminal cable was difficult to remove so I used a screwdriver to help pry it up. I know, duh, why did I use a metal object around a battery! Big spark on the attachment with the small Volvo label. Ruh roh! I continued, no other issues. New battery installed. No power to car functions... lights, or instrument displays, and of course no response to key insertion or start button. Hopefully you are still active on this video/subject. Help!! Advice? Please read. You missed the most important step- to program the new battery. If you skipped this step your battery will die prematurely. In order to program the new battery you need to use either special tool(vida/dice, or generic volvo software like icarsoft) or you can Google the trick with how to do that by pressing foglights and flashers buttons in a special order. Please change the video with providing a link to software or button sequence programing

I love it how the battery weighing in at probably 15 or so kg, is almost thrown down with force on the car with the lid right under it. I also love it how the plastic cover is hit several times with the hand. Another sweet thing is how the upper plastic cover is forced down several times when it clearly wasn't fit properly. Last but not necessarly least, I love it how the plastic bolt is turned probably 360 degrees with a screwdriver when it's supposed to turn 90 degrees. The video was also cut as not to show the procedure to make it fit the right way. How do I know this? Well, I removed both battery covers today to clean the area around it. The upper cover was a bit of a pain in the neck to get back in place once off. It was my first time on this particular car because I bought it 2 weeks ago.

On my 2017 V60 T5 wagon there is a stiff covered cable that runs through the battery box that completely covers and blocks the retainer bracket and bolt. I don't know what that cable is or do I care, only that I cannot get to the retainer. Not enough sideways room there to even try to force it out of the way to get a socket in there. I have a 2012 S60 T5 Auto
One day I took the cables of the top post of battery, removed the battery sensor, removed ventilation hose. I couldn't reach the bolt that holds battery down, so i put it all back together. Went to go start my car, and no start when pushing the START button. No dash warning lights, but was getting power. Eventually "Low Battery" , then "Low Battery, Power Save Mode" .
Figured battery was bad, so i swapped a working battery in, and was then hit with the same "Low Battery"
I have checked fuses, tested alternator, cleaned posts and had a few friends see if they could figure it out. Nothing.

Usually calibration is done with OBD devices at the workshop. This video doesn't mention this which is bad. It makes people think they don't need the calibration step.

@@VolvopediaGuy so what.do you suggest I try next, do I have to take a trip to the main dealer and pay to have it plugged into VIDA ? Even if there is fault codes shown this wouldn't identify the particular failed part, i.e. it could be one strut, both struts or control-unit etc., all of which are I assume pretty expensive parts ?

Most batteries have hole on both sides. One side is plugged with a little cap (plug) if you need that side remove plug and install it on the other side

Probably some body removed the rubber hose (drain). Just get a rubber hose that fits in it . and route drain hose away from battery

Great video but that has to be the most offensive music I’ve ever heard in my life. I want to power wash my ear canals and physically scrape it out of my brain. I’d rather listen to senior citizens have sex than listen to that music again.

Scotty is an idiot, I buy Volvo because they have the most comfortable seats, ride and have the best safety record. Toyotas are reliable but give you horrible Backache after long drive and thin foil in major accidents.
