Great video, as always! Sorry our trailer was so devoid of any useful info, but we were in the depths of development so I threw it together so we had _something_. By the way - the plugin has a sidechain filter and some useful settings hiding away in the toolbar. :)
thank you for this plugin kazrog, always been looking for such a simple and effective plugin
Kazrog, as per usual..... Awesome.
A very nice plugin indeed!
I have a trial version presently. I love True Iron, its on every track. I'm really liking this as well. I compared this to the (IMO) very fine Acustica Audio Greg Wells "El Rey, and though a bit different, True Dynamics compares VERY favorably. The presets are a nice way to familiarize oneself, and YES, the side chain filters REALLY help sculpt the sound. I'm buying it, as it's much less expensive than the UA combo rare comps.
Great stuff, please make a bundle and sale :)
i love how sandstrom fit's every plugin it's put on that really is a timeless song
Once again it seems the last compressor I bought a couple weeks back wasn't in fact the last compressor I thought I would need.
"The Presto 41A Limiting Amplifier, released in the late 1940s, was one of the original mono all-tube
mastering limiters. With huge input and output transformers, it was used along side the Presto mastering
lathes to finalize vinyl records - long before Fairchild was glimmer in Les Paul's eyes. With a wonderful
selection of tubes and a remarkable, thick and warm sound, the Presto 41A is a gem among collectors and
top mixers around the globe.
About the "LA-1B" voicing (based on ITA LA-1B)
The ITA (Industrial Transmitter and Amplifiers) LA-1B Limiting Amplifier has been called "rarer than hens'
teeth". Developed and sold as custom piece to radio stations by Bernie Wise (who worked at RCA until the
early 1960s) the ITA LA-1B, is among the fastest tube compressors ever made, with an enormous sound
stage, built around custom Chicago transformers and the venerable RCA 6386 tube. Incredibly rare, used
by some of the top mixers for its remarkable, transparent and lush sound."
This is in the manual. WHY not make these in the trailer!
So, is the LA-1B the official precursor to LA-2A?
And this plugin is based on LA-1B?
@@gaborkiss1425 Pretty much. :)
@@DynastyUK Thanks, I have to look into this.
@@gaborkiss1425 No, LA2A has nothing to do with LA1B. Nothing. LA2A is opto compressor whereas LA1B is a vari-mu compressor. They both use tubes but nothing else in common.
Thing sounds great and adds that bit of magic we're all after. Thanks for reviewing it!
I can even hear what it’s doing on my phone speaker. Very pleasant indeed. I love what these guys do.
Pretty sure I own about 9 and a half million compressor plugins already.
Yeah, same here, I must buy about a compressor a week . . . I just can't stop, compressors are like heroin, you try just a little, maybe 2:1 on a medium attack/release and before you know it you have sold your children for a Fairchild emulation.
... and that’s precisely why our first foray into this category is something a bit different. I don’t know if anyone needs another 1176 clone? I say that as someone who loves the 1176 sound. This had to be different.
@@KazrogPlugins I would like to have a good 1176 clone...

Dave Lordy you’re spot on
I've just purchased this plugin from Kazrog and i think its terrific. it colours (Warms) anything you apply it to. I have lots of but this one will be in every master mix that I do. it definitely does what my ears love.
Interface Designer: I paid attention to stringency in every detail of this front panel and created a homogenous and credible appearance.
Kazrog Boss: Totally suitable for my self-created logo from my Photoshop trial version.
They are just trying to be retro cool :)
hahahahaha
I was instantly impressed by True Iron. I'm also instantly impressed by this plugin. Kazrog are doing great things!
Nice, thanks for reviewing!
Great review as always. I love the Noveltech Character, and Vocal Enhancer. Both simple GUI and great sounding. Def worth a look if you've not before.
Even I could hear a positive difference in the sound from those emulators through my terrible tablet speakers!! They sound reeeeeally good. Give the music a wonderful glow. ☺️
Sandstorm by Darude has so many facets to it. It's amazing. Every time I hear it, it's a new section! Does this song go A > B > C > ... > ZWT > ZWU > ZWV? ;)
Yes
I’m responding three years later, but I haven’t seen many of his videos, therefore I didn’t get the joke until your comment. I love it!
LA 1B is a beast from the 1950's or 60's latest. Huge monster box, two knobs. In and Out. Plus meter. Inside quite a few trafos (6 if I'm not mistaken) and plenty of Tubes. 6 if I also can recall. Anyway, great and transparent compressor.
Next up from Kazrog: True Colors. Make Cyndi Lauper proud. Like a rainbow.
Loved true iron gonna love it too.
Takes me back to normal in these troubling times. Thanks
Yeah really. The video I watched immediately before this one was about teenagers coughing on produce in supermarkets and posting videos of it to social media.
I bought myself a copy! The color/warmth the first compressor adds to the mix sounds absolutely gorgeous! It's the closest I've found to the sound of an analogue compressor, to my ears at least.
Audiophiile yes - it has serious mojo
Thanks for sharing this plugin. I loved the critique you did, and I think the word you were looking for was presence
It also has oversampling and sidechain filters, I love the plugin already
32x.. now THATS awesome.. and you can process it offline
Great sound here. I would even just run audio through it without compression or very small amounts. It has a great tonal contribution to make.
I really am impressed with Kazrog!
Most plugins today "say" they offer something unique and awe-inspiring, but when you actually use them, you can BARELY tell the difference in sound quality between the bypassed and activated sounds. Kazrog has actually made an extremely audibly colorful line of plugins.
Man, that sounds so nice. Most plugins really make you hear, that its working. But this is some other kind of magic.
Even though i´m not at my studio right now and only listen thru my iMac-Speakers. But it fitted the track very well and i´m so excited to try it out and hopefully buy it, as soon as corona will let me get to work soon :D
Nice Job Kazrog. (Tho i never heard of your company before > You really impressed me!)
Also thanks to WhiteSeaStudio for showcasing this wonderful plugin
I agree this sounds amazing....I like your ears, do you have any other must have "magic" plug-ins on your list ;)
No one:
White Sea Studios: As always, this plugin is screw in so it's difficult to uninstall from your computer.
Sounds Great !
Great video as always! I'm a fan of Karzog. I only have 2 plugins from them but the ones I own I like.
Looks cool... thanks for another one!
0:45 - It looks like something I would buy... LOL!
on the top right corner it has also a low and highpass sidechain filter
On sale right now for $24.99, havn't picked it up yet but this sounds really nice! Will have to demo it when I get chance but will likely pick it up at that price!
The P41-A has that Fleetwood Mac Rumors sound - I'm in trouble :D
The drums on that record are what I'm always striving for!!
It's on sale right now, so came here to listen to a walkthrough. Great, sounds like a nice bus compressor to me.
Wow, that commercial looks and sound like Red Alerts's intro, Hell March. Awesome!
Kazrog True Iron and True Dynamics are amazing!
Ik ga het proberen. Blijf gezond Wytse😎👍
Thanks for another great video!
this convinced me to grab it. thanks for the video!
This is a defo "watch out for this company" impressed again... I know my next purchase. Thank you yet again for your videos!!!
Will download and say my comment on it later... true Iron... well it just gives me what I want for hardly any money... this seems to be something of the same.
I would use these along side of a more fine tuning device and using these for the main lift of character.
They've since added a killer third compressor emulation, the best of the 3 imo. It adds a lot of distortion however so make sure to switch the Modern Biasing setting on if you don't want it.
Sound veeeeeeery lovely
i bought both this and the True Iron and tried iron on a mix and wow so rich...lovely color...but keep in mind each of these have many presets in the top control and their output is very diverse so please check that out too 😎👍🏻
Best channel out there by far
Woof woof, great review of a great product!
Mojo-
It does sound pleasing. I wonder though, if I need it. I have a lot of good compressors, and suffer from plugin addiction.
Life was easier when I had just few plugins. Good ol' days :/
And have you mastered at least 90% on how those plugin you have work ? "Talking about hoe they sound, theyr workflow and getting used to it?"
Btw if you felt it sounded pleasing, you can allways use it as a coloration plugin. To add that extra harmonics, doing some gentle compresion "not much, like 1-2 db of gain reduction" making the dynamics sit a bit better together, or you can also use it "if you like it how it sounds in really extreme settings" for parallel compresion.
But yea, if you have plugin addiction, change your mind to learn how the tools you have really work, and master it.
Ou yea btw, unsuscribe from waves, kvr, plugin boutigue, etc.... Newsletter 😄😄😄 that helps too

There’s no official way to say it, but I love this so much hahahaha.
@@KazrogPlugins Pleased to meet you Kaz

Damn, you beat me to getting pinned! 😩
Gonna buy ASAP
I loved True Iron instantly, so I should probably give this one a try.
"it's a subtle thing that it does but it does it very well"..... sometimes that's all you need. Job done!! :-)
Like True Iron it's not "night & day" with "normal" settings. If you crank CRUSH with the right transformer it distorts, easy. This new one seems like a warm and wooley comp.
Once income starts flowing again it'll be in my toolbox!
Based just on this sample I think I like the LA-1B a bit better?
The LA 1B sounds so good on the drums. A very Pop music vibe sort of like the Charlie puth style sound to it. The other one sounds good on vocals cuz the attack time is too fast.
Their trailer would give me the impression that it is made for rock music in particular. The graphic design also seems to imply that to some extend. A lot of plugins and vst’s convey a certain feeling by the way they look. It is something psychological, i.e. a clean looking modern interface would perhaps convey a feeling of electronic music instead.
For me it compress and reduce high frequencies and compress mid and low end as well. The best thing is to compare the original and edited in a wave editor, both normalized. I wish to have a compression analysis tool to compare the original and the processed signal. Something like RMS/VU Meter for different frequency ranges. I think it the most difficultly part in music to handle different compressor types for instruments, voices, groups, frequencies and master at the same time.
I knew you would like it :) Use the Sidechain-Menu too, you can change the detectors reaction of the compressor. Its the litte icon on the right top of the plugin. I think it sounds very good and solid and it adds flavor other soft-comp do not offer. Top product from Kazrog in my opinion. They know their stuff :)
They should have made that more obvious 😅
@@Whiteseastudio :) yes a little more obvious couldn't hurt.
Would love to see some videos on the Kush Audio AR-1 and Kush Audio Omega TWK.
The low end is compressed just a tiny bit. By choosing a fast recovery time, the result is warm and silky.
It doesn't have that strong pumping artifact like other compressors. Actually, it's very musical. I'm interested. It reminds me of a hyrid optical/vari-mu/FET compressor. I don't know but I'll check it out. Kind of wish they gave owners of True Iron a discount on this. In fact, I own most of their plugins.
This a good ass sandstorm
...pressure... it's a super settled pressure in the low end I'm feeling...
It warms it, yeah. Very cool.
Make up your mind, dude
Checkout DMG Audio Track comp 2. It has eight emulations of famous hardware comps that are simply amazing. The standouts are the 1176 and the Zener comp/limiter followed closely with the Api 2500 and la2a.
Uggg more GAS! This sounds really great! But do I need it..... It's called VIBE! Kazrog has great stuff!
I would like to find the song that was used in the demo, it is very nice. Where can I find this song? The plugin is nice also.
It gives it this extra musicality. Maybe that's the word you were looking for. Never heard of this company but this sounds really really good.
I know Im late responding to this....but...just used the one that has all three of them on three diffrent tracks on a drum bus....man...this thing is nice...its magic in the box....well worth the money...sounds alot better than UAD or Slate...sounds more Analog...more rounded and warm...like analog gear
I hope they included the correct screwdriver in case I need to pull the unit. Any faithful analog emulation must include intermittent maintenance needs along with a skeuomorphic UI, right?
Subtle but very, very very nice sounding!
Hey Yahh what about checking out some free plugins? Like your recommendations for a set of free plugins to use.
And maybe some videos about how to work with speach and postprocessing it?
Kind regards
I love watching this on the cell phone... cause believe it or not the speaker of this thing is great for overall impression... it’s like a tiny obnoxious ns10...
Man, my Dad had one of those Presto 41A units, along with a Presto record lathe. The compressor got dismantled likely in the 60's. There might still be a remnant of it around here, but I wouldn't know where to find it in what's left of the old parts stuff, if it's even here. Unfortunate we didn't know when we were young about the usefulness of these things.
Fleetwood Mac vibe going on there.
Balcony.. velvet moon.. now would everyone please stop asking! I would love to hear a shoot out between true dynamics and chandler germanium. I downed the true dynamics and already am in love. it does one thing and it does it well. very smooth and gives great character. the la-1b feels like its designed for rock/metal.. p41-a is smooth like chocolate mousse .
Have you had a chance to try the germanium vs this kazrog?
Man, the face you make just before googling the Presto made me laugh 10 minutes :-)
I noticed a huge difference immediately just on phone speakers when you bypassed the plugin. Wow.
Very nice and a very nice interface as well ;-).
Should it be on a lower sale at some point, I'll get it. I'm not complaining about the price, it is just not that of a value to me.
i have both true iron and this and which would you run first on the master? my guess is true dynamics and then polish it off with true iron
Sounds good. I suspect, like all the other modern plugins that attempt to emulate analogue sound, it has a low pass filter that clears the mix of all those pesky upper harmonics.
nice!!
The song is "Balcony" by Velvet Moon
You’re completely mistaken, he said at the beginning it is Sandstorm (by darude)
K nzo [Vortex1212] ah yes, always
Love these videos.. especially as a newer producer building their plug-ins and knowledge. Any change you'll do the distressor? I know it's pricey :P
groovy I would say :)
great thumbnail
Nice! I feel that the stereo image gets more focused in the mids, which is always pleasing. However, I get the same feeling from True Iron, so if using both True Iron and True Dynamics in the chain could it possibly narrow down the width too much..?
i have both and have yet to test that but can let you know
Took this for a test drive. Chandler Limited® Germanium Compressor by Softube blows True Dynamics away. Chandler Germanium dethroned my former favorite compressor, the UAD LA-2. I do like True Iron a lot though.
True Iron is really great I like to use but I don't find the compressors so convincing .
that was quick, they already have your video posted on their site.
Have you ever tried U-He Presswerk? Its my favourite compressor for the past 5 years.
Can't decide between ImPresswerk and UnimPresswerk
The True Iron plug I've renamed in my chain "The betterizer". It just makes things better , but I cant put my finger on why, but I did an A/B test on a few friends and they all picked the Kazrog one as the "better" mix. This one sounds nice, I might check it out. Maybe it'll replace my trusty SSL glue compressor plugin? Maybe?
How would you prefer the gui @white sea studio?
Thank you for this video. This plugin sounds pretty nice for sure. Could you suggest the smoothest compressor plugin available? I need something to give a saturation, dynamic control and sustain to my piano tracks. Something very organic and smooth. Thanks again!
Have you found one?
Nice plugin, yet too expensive for any klompendansen. Good demo. Keep it real.
Me: how many compressor plugins do I need?
Also me: yes!
I'm pretty sure he's gonna buy it. I'm gonna buy it too XD
Hi. I'm the guy to hit the 1000s like. Thank you for making cool videos!
such a nice song too! who is it?
Those reflections on the VU are so stupid, but at least they didn't skew the knobs and shadows are under control. Putting aside the GUI (it doesn't influence the sound eh) it sounds really nice! All Kazrog plugins do. They mostly know what they're doing.
Maybe the word you want is "closeness?"
You're too funny....Rock on
To me, it actually sounds like tape. Nice.
Perhaps in my genre its to special. I have so many great plugins Ni, Izotope and much more. The Problem i got with that kind of emulations is - even when it comes to Mastering, those pluigins do often not give more quality to the Signal. Resulting in minimalistic lose of Transient power. What is not realy new to compressors. But i see that many compressed Signals loose the high or low End when it is working. Some more some less. That can be usefull if perhaps we want to duck down something that has to much presents in that specific Freq. range. But dont get me wrong - after all those years, it is like Hans Zimmer said on the Moog merchindise movie: He said - they want to press the sound to vinyl and the producer / master ask why they got 3 Sek Silence in the Sound. So that is - what brings it down to the point. HZ had the Speakers and the room to get access to hear that deep low and high end. The vinyl cant get that down physical - they masterd the chain with a Locut. To avoid damage to the Master Plate. Tha same Problem comes up if you try to produce modern Psytrance Basslines. MANY are great. But to sound Modern - you have to use MBK to get the Weight right done. Its impossible to bring up the High End. Mostly vini Vici and so on use a MBK. Its actual very easy to do. Get the low End band down so u cant hear it. Then fix the high and mid to the Mix. If that sit well - get the Low End Gain up and match until the lower Harmonics are present. Thats all of the trick they do. It works every time! Eqing has more phase relevant problems to it then Multiband Gain korrektion. But if we do other styles of Mixing that is hardly a tabu to do. Every one wants to get warm and rich sound. In the end warm on tubes means distorted with highend Saturation. That brings out the "harmonic" Content. From subtile to very extrem. I learnd that on hard way. By using Korg electribes in the past. After many recordings i realized what brings the "harmonic" component to the sound is not the tube - its the embedded Limiter that was more like a clipper. The Tube fits in FRONT of that so it was possible to rise up the Volume and distort the Signal so hardly that it became flat no dynamic Signal if it was done wrong. And MANY did it wrong. The way to use that tribes was to get down with the overall Loudness and watch the Record to be "unclipped". You have to look out to that the whole time. To have a not destruktive cut. That brings out another problem - when that was done. The Tribes are very tiny in sound. So they implement that Gainstaging to simulate the modern Maximizing in Mastering. What happens to the sound? It gets "Warm" meaning - the Clipper reduces the Power of the transients. Bring out more Volume and that brings out the Low End to a audible volume. But the problem is it brings up Noise too. So every Record that was recorded with the Electribes would be noisy as Hell and not praktical to create modern Volume and QOS. The only way to get that is to use high Quality Prozessing and Soundsources that are able to bring it in the lower end. Some VST do other not. Based on resolution. The basic midrange and Modulations are not the problem. Its the High and Lower End. Physical Instruments desiged fpr Stage and Concert Volumes need to have that full range. And many digital Synths lost the game. Thats why Moog and analog synth are so very usefull - the Sound is based on Analog Osc. And in the End its the oldest of all mixing rules that decide if the Plugin works realy well: You just can mix what you hear and mix what is already in the Signal. If it has not the Resolution or Sound in the High and low End - you cannot get it out. Becourse its not in the Signal. Law of Nature. So all those Plugins are mostly useless unless u know exaktly what you get out of it. And thats the point. Just becourse its a great Plugin - doesnt mean that it is usefull to the Genre we produce. Have a nice day
Regarding your text, I like the TL;DR compressor.
Seems like a decent compressor..
