As you all know I like playing weird and crazy Football Manager tactics and this time I will be trying to win the Champions League final WITHOUT DEFENDERS :)
Fun concept, but I feel like this is more “can you win a game without defenders?”. I know it’s a bit nitpicking, but for it to be “win the champions league” it should be a whole season of CL games with the tactic.
Yeah, you are correct! It's more "can you win a single game, be it the CL final with the best team ever assembled". The next video of this sort I hjave actually simulated a whole season and adjusted the tactic so it can work over a long period. I will give it a shot to create a tactic to be successfull over entire season without defenders but I honestly think it's gonna fail :)
I wonder if you could do a similar thing with only IFB's. No actual central defenders, but the only wide defenders you would be allowed to have in the challenge would become central defenders in possession.
It would work about the same, the IFB's would run wide, while half back goes back to the DM spot, it would look like 3 CB's in possession, then just decided to invite the attack to score.

@@khemrajbudha7955 I just tried same tactic on FM23 with Man Utd, default gegenpress settings + run at defense more often and be more expressive; 3SS, Regista a 2 Volantes on attack. Won Carabao, Europa League and lost the league to City on goal difference (9 golas diff). So with some tweaks I'm pretty sure it can work great in FM23 as well (3/4 fast, not 4/4 and WB on A, not on S). If you wanna give it a shot, I find it a very fun system to build a team with 'cause you only need DMs and AMCs, can rotate very easily, you can check more about it here: czcams.com/video/3ZxRPPvOrxQ/video.html
The only reason I wanted to use this 3-SS 3cbtactic is that we need a very small squad so we can give all the chances to youth players. When I was very successful in FM17, I used 3 SS, 1 DPL, 1 BWM, 2 IWB, and 3 BPD. Now, since there is a wide center-back, I wanted to create the same formation but with 2 WCB 1 CB, which is what I can't do until now. I tried for 3 game months with Chelsea few real months ago and failed! Maybe when I tried, my squad was weaker as compared to ManU. I'll surely try with these fancy roles like Volante and Regista. I have never used fancy roles apart from SS in my long FM career from FM13. Thanks for the video and motivation to try something new again.
I can't help but feel it was kinda cheating using this Real side, too much talent in it. Next time I do I think I should use a real-life squad, even if it is a Real or Man City
