    I remember one story, not sure if it's true or not, but there was a guy who, ever day, worked in a toll booth at the entrance to a zoo car park. After decades of him working there, he just stopped turning up to work, and nobody was working the toll booth. The zoo called up the council to ask where he went, and the council was confused, because he didn't work for them. It turned out the dude didn't work for anyone. He just set up a toll booth and took people's money as they came in.

    • @melmao9507
      @melmao9507 Před 3 lety +2

      Yeah, there's nothing terribly wrong about what HSBC did here. As an institution they decided that they no longer wanted him as a customer based on some risk calculation, so they closed his account and gave him back his money. It just is yet another example of why you should maintain multiple accounts so you don't suddenly end up being underbanked as sometimes getting an account when you have a negative account outcome becomes much harder. It also might be that he had a personal account instead of a business account (as classified by the bank) and they saw business transactions out of it which violated some internal policy.
