    Of all the Datasheets in Codex Orks, i did not expect Meganobz to be the one that starts flexing into different roles in different detachments. You know, like how Stormboyz played very differently depending on wether you played them in Goffs, Blood Axes or Deathskulls.

      @@toddmarsee6909 Double Waaagn for Bully Boyz, and if the Mek is with them, they get additional potential buffs and advantages in a DreadMob. In a speed freeks detachment, they could be run with a warboss using the 35 point assault ramp enhancement. Finally, there's talk of using them in a Green Tide detachment with an enhancement that always counts a mob as 10+ models, which would then allow for re-rolling armor saves.
      So yeah, they didn't re-invent the wheel here, but there's a good bit of versatility here between offense and defense.

      It’s not clear. There are three instances of Ghaz on the data card and the rule doesn’t say which one it’s referencing. Interpreting it as Ghaz and Makari take up 18 is the most common as then the rule has a reason to exist. But it creates the funny situation where Makari on his own also takes up 18 slots. Idk why GW didn’t clear up this rule with the codex.

  • @Majere613
    @Majere613 Před měsícem +10

    The problem with Meganobz in 10th has tended to be that for all their apparent threat, they feel a bit pillow-fisted. Between hitting on 4+ in melee, (which is daft given that powerfist Terminators don't get the same effective -1), a low number of base attacks, lowish Strength and only 2 damage, you'll often charge them in, kill a few models and be left with an 'is that it?' feeling. Running them with the Mek is great for the durability and getting back up, but you really need the Warboss to make them competent. Their mediocre shooting also makes it a bit too easy to screen them with chaff units.
    Their real Kryptonite, though, is Redemptor Dreads with that -1 damage rule which they really struggle to kill and which hits back hard enough to make a big dent in the squad. Unfortunately Orks in 10th tend to struggle with tough vehicles in general outside of Beast Snaggas.
    They'll be fun in Dreadmob, where a Mek-led unit might well distract big guns that could otherwise make nasty holes in Orky walkers, and I'm sure they'll do work in Bully Boyz, if perhaps not as much as you might hope.

    • @hughtitchener6478
      @hughtitchener6478 Před měsícem

    • @Majere613
      @Majere613 Před měsícem +1

      @@stevethegeckotv That's the 'ish'. It's high enough for infantry, but you don't really have the volume of attacks to make that an ideal target, and you're getting that 13 on one, maybe two turns with weapons that do 2 damage, so you're looking at maybe killing one vehicle if you're lucky. Against a Redemptor, especially with AoC up, you scratch the paint. Anti-vehicle on the Saws would make them a lot more appealing but that's locked to Beast Snaggas for some reason. And of course Ghaz makes them very nasty, but Meganobz with Ghaz are more ablative wounds than anything else.

    • @chetmanley1885
      @chetmanley1885 Před měsícem +2

      @@Majere613 that's true in the index but with +1 to hit and wound, lethal hits, crits on a 5+, they're much more than ablative wounds for Ghaz now.

    I think theyll be strong at first, people will adapt and then we'll move on. They're not the hardest hitting unless you invest tons of points and CP. Most any unit in the game can get crazy when you're investing so much. I like that you have to choose, either they're mad tanky, or get pretty dead killy. Being versatile like this is what makes Orks, Orks and why i think MANZ will be strong in a good fun way.

      They were pretty decent before with not really enough offensive output when paired with a big mek, which felt necessary to give them an invulnerable save. Now that the bully boyz detachment gives them 2 turns of 5++ 4+++, you can put them with a leader to make them more killy- megaboss (who can also grant them deep strike) or Ghaz. Double waaagh generally greatly enhances their output, mobility and endurance.

    • @bensemusx
      @bensemusx Před měsícem

      Well they only have a 4++ vs shooting at the expense of +1 to hit. They only have a 4+++ on one or two battle rounds. Their damage really isn’t that great and will require CP to buff it.

    • @thinkabouthelogic
      @thinkabouthelogic Před měsícem

      Yes and okay, but they have to get INTO melee without getting shot and killed first, AND they have to survive between the rounds as well. I have been playing with a couple of sets of meganobz/mega for all of 10th, and while they are (sadly) some of my biggest damage dealers, I also have to run them with something like Mozrog, Flashgitz... something to buffer them from the other guy''s space junk so that they can survive until it's time for them to charge and melee because their shooting sucks and if the other guy's space junk with too many hits gets to them too soon? Dead Meganobz. I don't care what your FNP is. They will be dead.

    • @danw2428
      @danw2428 Před měsícem

      @@thinkabouthelogic i get you. But you can fit 5 and a leader in a single trukk. Low investment. And you're thinking of it from only the angle of going up against a shooting army. For melee vs melee armies the game is decided mostly in BR 2 and 3. In bully Boyz these guys will have their fnp for those 4 fight phases. Most melee weapons are dmg 1-3 which get completely neutered against FNP, especially 4+. I think 5 or 6 fnp would still make these guys disgustingly good. But 4 against melee opponents is just too good. If you do the math, they beat out a lot of units other armies have to pay a premium for doing their melee dmg that are way more delicate for return swings. Even custodes pre nurf are beat out by meganobz. They needed a durability buff for sure, but this is obviously so good you hear people say they are maxing out mega nobz. means it's too good usually.

    • @danw2428
      @danw2428 Před měsícem

      @@bensemusx understood. And they needed a buff for sure. But if you compare them to other units that should be able to hold their own against them or even kill them decently easy in melee, this is a significant over adjustment. Which is mostly BR 2 and 3 activit which would have full coverage of waaagh buffs.Just because they are slow doesn't mean they need to be able to tank things they shouldn't be able too. That's what trukks, Bwagons, and lower pts costs are for.
