2020 Sierra HD Fender Mod for Larger Tires

  • Last time I went over how to install a 2" leveling kit with upper control arms and new keys with shock spacers. That was all so I could fit these 35x12.50x20 Ridge Grapples on a 20x10 -24 wheel. The new 2020 HD trucks don't have a ton of room on the fenders to clear a wider or taller tire, so the leveling kit and trimming were required to fit the taller tires with this offset of wheel.

I've seen a couple guys add spacers to the front bumper. No more than ¾" from stock. I believe that left enough room for a larger tire, no cutting. Good luck on your move!

Love that look I recently bought a 2020 Silverado 2500hd with the duramax and wanted new rims and tires I ended up getting the fuel rebel 8 in grey and black cause my truck is charcoal grey . I agree all black is played out and I have had polished wheels before and they are a pain to keep looking good and chrome won’t hold up in the winter here. Your truck looks great!!

No Doubt, Method makes great looking rims. However, I prefer the aesthetics AND the function of the Black Rhino Armory rims. Rims with spokes and or holes can and do get caked up with mud off-road. Once the truck is driven back onto pavement, the rims and tires are out of balance......and the truck shakes for 2 to 3 miles down the road. That issue is not a problem with the Black Rhino Armory rims....no spokes and no holes. Clean the mud off the rims? Easier said than done. Some mud is very sticky...requires good water pressure to remove it from the rims.

I like how you put one nut on halfway and it's done. 😊 I just got a 21 hd and I am trying to decide between a +13 offset and a -12 with a 20x10 wheel. By the math the +13 wheels should be 2" poking past the factory wheels and a -12 should be 3". So I am having trouble deciding because I want a clean nearly stock look. Tires I will be using milestar patagonia xt 35/12.50/r20. I am hoping to get away with shock extensions, a couple turns on the keys, and this same trimming.

I did install solar wireless stick to the roof they just don’t look good and when you do a lot at night time driving like I do they just don’t last. I’ve gone to the dealers they are no help at all. A SIX INCH lift for 37 inch tires???
The General Motors "Square Body Trucks" started off the problematic cut fenders and or lift in order to install big tires. Yeah.....the square / rectangle shaped wheel well for a round rim and tire way back in 1973. The proverbial "round peg in a square hole".....causes a big mess with GM 4WD truck owners wanting bigger tires. Chevrolet trucks had a slight improvement in 2019. This along with the following reasons is why I switched to Ford Super Duty trucks.
      1. IFS Axle - Poor Axle Articulation
      2. Poor Approach Angle
      3. Poor Departure Angle
      4. Poor Breakover Angle - because of low hanging framer rails...truck can end up like a "teeter totter" on uneven terrain off-road.
      5. Higher "Center of Gravity" with a 4 inch lift to provide clearance and decent axle articulation for 35 inch tires.

It is quite pathetic that the wheel wells on GM 4WD trucks have to be cut or modified and a 4 inch lift installed in order to fit and provide axle articulation for 35 inch tires.....or a 6 inch lift for 37 inch tires.
Ford and Dodge trucks only require a level suspension (raise the front) to clear 37 inch tires.
GM has great V8 gas engines.......but the design and engineering of the GM 4WD trucks is PATHETIC!!!
