With some geometrical constructions, you can ‘logic’ it out.
I love how simple this is.
I am frustrated that I couldn’t figure it out myself.
    Thanks

Cus the bottom points of the triangle can be expressed as (sin(2π/3),cos(2π/3)) and (sin(4π/3),cos(4π/3)), and as the vertical value equates to -0.5, the perpendicular bisector can be used to calculate it.

Ok what about real world use? Not just doing it on paper or the computer for the heck of it or for exam. I have a small circular plant shelf I want to add 3 legs to make a little plant stool. I need to make them even triangle. Is there not a math equation I can do to get the answer? Or do have to go buy a compass?

    • @official-obama

as long as it's not all off to one side, you should be fine with just eyeballing it

      - You can use a thumbtack and a string for a compass, or something similar. But, of course, it’s ‘drawing in air’ that’s the problem.
      - (Compasses are not expensive).
      - For the stool I would make a paper pattern and then transfer the points to the stool.
