I saw the thumbnail and my frst thought was "The door is build backwards" and my second thought was "No way he does not know this, there probably is something to this" and there is. Thank you for this informative video. I never build a door from green wood and I will put this in my mind.
Good to see you again Tim. Hope we don’t lose you to insta-gram. Some don’t do all those other places. We have missed you. Fred. Thanks for sharing with us.👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great to see a new GPC video! Loved the scenery shots, so beautiful! I like the contrast of the natural pine door to the dark logs. Great to have you back Tim!
Hey, how ya been? Hope you had a great Christmas season with your family. Been a while since I've seen something from your channel here, great job on the door, looks real good. Hope to be seeing more soon. Anyhow, happy new year, cheers
Hi Tim, great explanation on thr bracing. I was just about to open my mouth when you explained the principle of tension a few compression braces. Cheers
Just found your channel and really enjoyed some of the videos I’ve watched. But noticed it’s been 6 months since you’ve done one, hope you’re doing ok and add some new content. But we all know how chaotic life can be. Take care.
How do you make the floor of a log cabin ? I'm thinking about trying to build one and I was wondering how you done the flooring in your first log cabin 🤔 Thank you.
Sure Doug, but the compression brace needs something to brace against, like the top and bottom rails, so you would need inside rails as well to do that. As the wood shrinks and dries, the tension brace should do the bulk of the work. If needed, since this door is so wide and heavy, I will put a turnbuckle on the inside to keep it up but that shouldn't be needed. Time will tell.

Hello Fred!
Door looks very nice. Tall and wide as I am 6' 3" tall everything is small. But you can carry anything in that door you want!
Nice job. DK, Omaha.

Hello John
Beautiful door. Complements the rest of the cabin. The door member's fasteners are a nice resemblance to raised nailhead trim. Nice.
Happy New Year.

@@GreatPlainsCraftsman hi Tim. I'm still, slowly, building the cabin over here in Wales. The year's been a bit slower, as you can imagine
@@jacey5247 I'm sure. Keep at it, I want to come see it someday
@@GreatPlainsCraftsman that would be amazing, might have to give me another year though 😂
Well done good sir. I like how the hardware turned out too.

Hello Bill, thanks for tuning in.
Tim could you put a brace the other way inside ??
