    I have an acre and run 3 of the tractors off my well pump. Setting the wands for a 15 foot radius (30 foot diameter) in low gear puts down about half an inch of water. Overlaping passes by 50% and I get an inch of deep watering once a week during drought condions and still encourage deep root growth.

    I am a huge fan of buying the in ground sprinklers and putting them on spikes. So much versatility in nozzle choice and the coverage is excellent. Using the MP rotator nozzles has also reduced my water bill quite a bit

      How do you get enough pressure to power more than 2? After that it stops being reliable for me...

    Nice thorough video man.
    10/10 would recommend the Orbit tripod sprinkler for big yards. It’s my go to for my 10k sf back yard. With decent pressure and good water flow using a 3/4” internal diameter hose (significantly more output than a 1/2” or 5/8”), that thing chucks it. Set up takes less than a minute and I now only have to change the location once to water the rest of the lawn.
    I only ever overseeded the back, and in my experience the more aggressive spraying never was an issue for the seeds while waiting for them to germinate. You’re right though, probably not the right one to use post bare ground seeding.

    Lawn tractor all day. A little hack (you need to be careful), I would say if you have good or really good water pressure, above 10 gallons per minute. You can drill the holes to a larger diameter and it throws down more water without loosing on pressure or speed. So I can have dual tractors throwing down .5-.65" of water on the faster gear and will do that every 4 days per my 3 zones. I water about 18,000Sqft.

    We purchase a hose or sprinkler every two years because finding one to water narrow areas next to the neighbor's yard is hard. We recently purchased two Eden 95124 Adjustable 4-Way Mini Turbo Oscillating Sprinklers to water our house's narrow sides. To work smarter, not harder, we also bought two hose timers, crossing my fingers that the timers will make it easier to water in the summer months. 🐞

    I love my gear driven orbit sprinklers. I daisy chain them together and get awesome head to head coverage. My only complaint is that the tips of the metal spikes can bend and break if you push them down into a rock.

    Can you tell us what psi or gpm you’re getting to your sprinklers? I have 60psi to my house and I’m having a really hard time finding a sprinkler that actually sprays as far as advertised.

  • @hawkie333
    @hawkie333 Před 26 dny

    The Orbit sprinklers are great and you can put up to 3 of them in series. With the adjustability you can do quite a bit. They do not hold up to a dog taking a quick bite at the sprinkler! When they finally bite the dust, the spike can still be used to mount an in-ground style sprinkler like a Hunter or Rainbird.

    I have 20 orbit h20 sprinklers setup on 3 different 4 port b-hyves to cover about 12,000 sqft of turf.. Cheaper than irrigation since I don’t plan on staying in my current home forever and it gets the job done plus saves me from hauling around garden hoses and sprinklers!

    • @TheLawnReview
      @TheLawnReview  Před měsícem +1

      You’ve got the ultimate set up. Are you an engineer?

    • @NorthCackalacky24
      @NorthCackalacky24 Před měsícem

      @@TheLawnReview not an engineer, but I love to solution problems lol. I originally set up the DIY irrigation last July in preparation for the Fall overseed knowing I wasn’t going to be able haul around sprinklers since my daughter was going to be born around the same time. It worked so well that I left it up. The garden hoses are positioned on the sides of my driveway and walkways and barely noticeable. I have overlap coverage with all sprinkler heads and leave the stream on the small setting to maximize sq ft.

    Question - i assume the tractor sprinkler really wouldnt work on a timer unless you bring it back to the starting point each time?
    also, thank you so much for this video. Never even thought of a tractor sprinkler.. didnt even know that was a thing! - i have the middle pie piece in a cul de sac and the lawn in split both back and front yards. so i have weird triangular pieces to water. This video was so helpful for making an informed choice

    When are you going to make a video about the ecoBooster? (It has only been available for a few weeks.) This thing is an absolute revolution in high-pressure cleaning! It delivers much more power, even for older devices, is much quieter, has less recoil, and is much more comfortable to use. The jet is much more homogeneous, allowing for the cleaning of delicate surfaces. Thanks to the wider and stronger jet, you can finish cleaning much faster.

    • @TheLawnReview
      @TheLawnReview  Před měsícem +1

    What would be best for a side yard....either between my house and my neighbors or my house and the fence. I would say 6 to 7 feet wide (houses are close to each other) and goes down the length of the house.

    • @ahastar1141
      @ahastar1141 Před měsícem +1

      I ended up buying an inground sprinkler head and putting it on a spike with a side strip head. Perfectly covers the area

    • @GRASShole21
      @GRASShole21 Před měsícem +1

      If your side yard is a rectangular area (specifically), the oscillating sprinkler (2nd in the video) works best since you can change the width and length on them. Since you can water the shape of the area perfectly (again IF it’s rectangular), then water from the oscillating sprinkler will only hit the intended square footage. Aka better water distribution and less water waste= more money in your pocket lol

    • @TheLawnReview
      @TheLawnReview  Před měsícem +2

      Oscillating sprinkler is probably the best, then narrowing the spray pattern

  • @RasaqAde
    @RasaqAde Před 7 dny

    Looks like the gear driven sprinkler leaked quite a bit. Would you say the quality was good enough to have more lasting power than the impact sprinkler?
