The cars at IAA have character. I enjoy these videos. My Grandpa had a 5th Avenue. Good memories for me. Get it!
That truck stop joke killed me!!
Most of those 80s Chryslers have had the lean burn system removed and converted to standard carb/ignition system for reliability. Once converted they were fine. I would love to see you work on that 5th Ave. Sounds like a sticky lifter (hydraulic).
EXACTLY this. Remove the LBS from the 318 and that will boost its reliability 100 times.
An old car from the eighties and an Audi A5S ? I would chose the Audi all day long in a perfect state .
@@leifandersen2756 Go for it, although the Audi's transmission is gone at 50k-something, not surprising for an Audi.
The ELB system was such a gimmick and a quick fix. We almost upgraded our 1975 for a 1979 with ELB but heard all the issues. We kept our car till 1988 when it went for a 6 too a 5cl and over 350K on it. Bought it for $4k and sold it for $3500.
I think having the 5th Avenue would be pretty cool! I noticed you mentioned the motor would probably need to be pulled and resealed with gaskets and such. That would be another cool thing to do! Get it for cheap and have a cool little project tear down and spruce it up and give it a nice coat of paint.
Hope the bids go well I would love to see this car on the channel. Best regards Randy!
You keep saying people won't like content about older cars like that Fifth Avenue, but I think most of your audience will love a small rebuild of that whole car. Giving it to your dad would make for even more content I think.
When you two guys get together even my laptop laughs a little bit. I swear !
7:36 In place of the shredded vinyl top, strip off the vinyl, sand the surface and spray it with color-keyed bedliner. The texture is just about right to simulate a vinyl top and actually looks OK. Just mask and save the trim strip between the vinyl and painted area of the roof to preserve the appearance of a quarter-vinyl roof.
I would agree normally but this car has a fiberglass plug that shapes the rear roof. The vinyl top bridges that transition from metal to fiberglass.
The 5th Avenue would be a great addition to the channel. That really does bring back many memories.
Randy duuuuude you need that Chrysler! I actually had one of those about 15 or so years ago. Was one of the most comfortable cars I'd ever driven. Felt like my grandmothers couch. That car had so much character
If you buy the 5th Avenue Chrysler every time you drive it you may have flash backs on other memories you had with a car like this. NICE!
I had a 87 Fifth Avenue red with red leather interior fully loaded that never gave me any grief. My wife still says it was the most comfortable car she's ever drove and it was very nice on long road trips.
My grandmother had a 1988 New Yorker. I think those seats were called tufted seat cushions.
Love the Fifth Avenue! Bring it back to life PLEASE!
I had a 1986 5th Ave, and man you couldn't kill that engine - as a young man in the mid 1990's - it was the whole front end of suspension that was dying
that made me give her up after like 4 years. I sold it to a friend who beat the hell out of it for the next 4 - 5 years and he loved it just as much as i did !
But instead of leather I had those crushed velet style seats - so comfortable.
I would LOVE to see that Fifth on the channel. I still miss Grandma's silver '83. Drop a 360 in there with a cop car rear end, and there's your power tour car right there.
Randy, you have to fix that Fifth Avenue just a bit then give it to your Dad. You're Dad's reaction will be priceless!
I would buy the Fifth Avenue just because of the plush leather seats and plush carpet! The interior is actually pretty nice!! 👍👍
Love the old Chrysler. Definitely would enjoy seeing it on the channel.
Randy, love the walk arounds you and MWM have been doing. Classic! This is what got your base viewers watching your channel. Love seeing the rough vehicles you find and bring back to life.
Having MWM with you is a great addition to your channel You 2 crack me up
my god if you give your dad that car you need to film that reaction thats either gonna be a heartwarming reaction or running for the hills
4:22 I love having mike in these videos for that reason lmfao such a character love it
Yes Randy, bring the Fifth Avenue on the channel please 🙏🏽. Haven’t seen one of those for awhile
My grandparents had several New Yorkers! This brought back a lot of good memories for me! Definitely need to bring this to the channel!
2 best cars ever! You're awesome for giving them the attention that they deserve. Best of luck in bidding. Hope you get both ! It's been said 1000 time but you and Mike are great together.
Love it when Mike is on. You guys work so well together. Also really liking the older cars.
I love it when you and Mike make jokes while filming 😅😅🎉🎉🎉❤
This car is actually my first car! The Chrysler Fifth. Same color too! I’ve been working on it a lot and I love it. Glad to see others love it too
The lean burn system was the ignition module and also had limited control over the carburetor. You can eliminate it by changing the distributor to a stand alone unit and if you want it to run even better change the carburetor to one without the electronic components. The only thing that normally goes bad on a 318 is the timing chain.
Loving the walkarounds as always Randy! This one was 🔥🔥 and yes get the Chrysler Fifth Avenue! Love those years of the S10 with that dashboard and headlights. Get that S10 you won't regret that either! Great content as always!
Man you guys are an awesome team. You always find the best stuff.❤
Love to see you bring the 5th avenue back to glory for sure and what a great car for next years power tour .
Hope you can get your dream car! Love the cars and ofc the convos with MWM! Seriously need to start 3rd channel together! but love these videos! Keep it up! 🔥🔥
I love seeing you both in one video!! Keep up the good work!!
Get it and hemi swap it !!!! You'll have it done before power tour next year. Tons of content and one hell of a sleeper!!!
OMG! FINALLY! I've been watching your channel for a while now and I kept thinking that I knew you from somewhere and when u said "Dale Oklahoma" I instantly remembered. I'm pretty sure that u used to come into a bank that I worked at in Shawnee way back when I lived in Dale. Small world. Glad you're posting more videos again. Oh btw, those are called button tufted seats. Have a great day!
😂😂😂you guys together are the best....better than any collaborations out there. This is amazing
I love the 5th Ave. Bring it to the channel for repairs and video giving it to your dad... that'd be one amazing video!
Loves seeing the 5th Ave. Looks so much like my first car, had an 83 5th Ave. Paid $200 for it. I really miss that car.
Glad to see you guys glad you're both doing okay🙂👍
That truck would make a fun overhaul to watch, but that Chrysler looks like it needs everything done. Your dad would get a laugh out of it. You could name it "The Golden Turd". 👍😎🇺🇸
My grandfather's last 3 cars were 5th Aves just like that one. Most comfortable car ever. Always in ship though. I hear if you scrap the intake and carb and swap an older setup they are great.
I hope you get the 5th Avenue, that car brings back nemories, my brother n law owned one and we prepped it for paint one summer, ran great, keep up the good work! 😂
Team work makes the dream work Randy and Mike 😎😎👍👍
Great video Randy! I always loved those New Yorkers! We had the LeBaron with that Lean Burn System
Love that little S10 too! My best friend in high school, his parents had one. Was a fun little pickemup truck
I hope you get the 5th man. So many memories. I don't think my grandfather paid over 500 for any of his all running with cold ac back in the mid to late 90s
I love that S-10, Randy. I owned a 1995 with a 4.3L/5-speed myself that I purchased new. Not only does this truck have a 4.3 but there were 2 different 4.3s and this one is the more powerful one of the two. It has a different style of fuel injection than mine did.
I wouldn't be surprised if the only thing wrong with the wipers is a bad turn signal multi-switch. I had to replace mine and it was inexpensive to buy and easy to install. I had the opposite windshield wiper problem with my truck, my wipers stopped working in a blinding rainstorm while driving 70 mph on the Florida Turnpike.
For the age of that truck, it's in great shape. Seeing this one really made me miss mine. BTW, that 4.3 sounds awesome with a Flowmaster 40 series- I put one with a single inlet and dual outlet on mine and ran duals out the back.
That's a beautiful truck! I hope you buy it! It's a great color, too!
My grandparents had a brand new black one in 85’. I remember it like it was yesterday. Those seats were plush as hell. Black inside as well
Glad iaa is back
When I purchased mine . I popped out the battery on my Ford ranger. Put it in the 5th Ave ,pumped the gas a few times& it started right up! Crazy that I remember feeling that cold ac too like as well
I had one as a “company car” back in the day. 318 v8. Loaded! Very comfortable but terrible handing, power and a typical late 80s car. But, I’d give anything to drive one again.
Definitely get the 5th Avenue. My parents had a couple of them and they are for sure comfortable. I just saw one for sale locally that was in very good shape. My memory of one of them was an 84 my parents had when I was 16. It was white with red cloth and an absolute lazy boy for sure with only like 40 something thousand on it in 1989. The steering on that thing was either so light (or loose) that it was an adventure to drive to me.
I had one in 89 loved it,never a problem reason why lean burn is taped over is it was converted to points
😂- I was given an '89 GF cop car last week. Guy bought it at auction, drove it a little bit, then parked it. He donated it, and a '74 GF stater car (440 & all) to a buddy's LEO museum. The '89 would have been the 4th in the collection, so...
i had a 1990 fith ave, the K-car version, car ran for 8 years and it was the most comfortable vehicle i ever owned. i bought it used from an older lady, was not perfect but the mark cross interior was amazing. good luck
quick story Randy...
My Grandfather owned 3 of these car, and he absolutely LOVED them all!
Love the engine and trans in these cars. (The Fury and Diplomat too.)
Tufted seats are awesome! Lean Burn were junk; I remember growing up our 78 Cordoba had it and Dad was always having problems, bringing it to dealer all the time. That 5th Ave is worth saving- do it!
Sure tough life when young, but it made you stronger in the long run. Got to love MWM busting your chops suggesting what you 'really did' at the truckstop. That he could say something like that and laugh proves your great friendship. Interesting 5th Avenue just make sure you get it cheap enough and have fun for content. It would be interesting to drive down to your stepdads (?) and bring back some memories together.
This video is a treat for any vintage car lover!
I would LOVE that 5th Ave. What an amazing find. And the colour is "Fozzie Bear".
Love the New Yorker. My buddy had one when we worked Dallas County Mortuary.
Yes! Please show the 5th Ave on the channel! I love seeing old cars like this put back on the road. Not too sure about that truck though. It looks like its got some electrical gremlins. The speedometer was going all over the place.
I like it. This is the way cars looked before they started making them more rounded.
For you to spend 20min looking at that car means that you really need it. Hope it goes cheap! Loved the video!
ok guys i needed this laugh today! got laid off earlier today! you guys are hilarious together.
I'm sorry to hear that man.
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds thanks man, I wish I could make videos like you. I failed at CZcams creation a few years ago.
Randy, I would buy the 5th Avenue & the S-10 both. They would make great content seeing you fix them back up. The most I would bid on the truck would be 1500 because it is a truck and you know like I do that trucks bring good money in Oklahoma. The most I would bid on the 5th Avenue is 1000.
Vary awesome collection indeed. The fifth avenue looks even sweeter.
Great Team. Keep up the good work. 😊
I had this same car color, an 83. That car was always breaking but like you loved that car.
Best line ever, “I was a teenage boy!” Mike “ yeah you would have been popular “
I owned an 83 with over 300000 miles and it was a great car. Got in 2 wrecks with it. My wife got hit and I slid into a Pu on newly paved road because of rain and looking off for 5 seconds. Fixed it myself both times and a young guy talk me out of it. 318 Auto with all the bells and whistles on it. I loved that car.and it was Red
LOVE LOVE the 5th Ave!!! Please rescue it! They are sort-of collectors now, like 80's Town Cars and DeVilles! (maybe not this one.....)The exterior color is Gold Dust Crystal Coat. It had the Lean Burn system which was very trouble prone. The systems are removed and converted; looks like it may have been.... but tape over the air cleaner LB opening??? Appears to have the optional Luxury Equipment Package (leather, stereo amplifier, power deck lid release, color-keyed bodyside moldings, wire wheel covers, etc.)
Omg I can’t stop laughing! Between you turning on the A/C and the windshield wipers can’t be turned off.😂😂😂😂
I had one of those Chrysler 5th Ave. I actually bought it off an old retired detective. It was an unmarked car the was a gift to him when he retired. Ran and drove fine but had starter issues..... even with a new starter
Omg lifter tick is thumping like a disco.....you got to buy that for sure Randy
On the S10 or Sonoma I would go UPTO 2500 bucks. It really has some nice potential, it's got lower mileage for the year, the wiper issue probably isn't a bad deal, the paints in decent condition, up here in Canada it would go for about 4k after its cleaned up. Those 4.3L Vortecs are loved by everyone. I wouldn't be surprised if and when Randy goes to sell it, that there would be a bidding war on it!
Pillow seat's Randy , nice interior color and clean.😮
Buy it for sure, cheap to fix, I have an 88 fifth ave in Australia...white with brown interior ....its a blast. Corinthian leather.
That 5th Ave reminds me of the "88 5th Ave from Breaking Bad.👍
I like this Chrysler man always liked, with a white wall tires would look awesome, Nice S10 pick-up
Definitely get the Fifth Avenue Randy and good to see Monkey Wrench Mike!
That New Yorker brought back some memories my Father had the food stamp version a booger green Dodge Diplomat
I bought a $10 tire for my 05 grand caravan in Maine and drove back to va last year and it’s still going
I would like to see the 5th Avenue on the channel. I bought a lot of those when I was in the car business and man they really are comfortable
Lolll 😂 you guys are actor's keep on keeping up the good work Randy you and Mike are 1 of the best partners and youtube is the new way of ppl becoming stars and auto action rebuilds is gona shin better then the Shine yeast shoes ever existed
I had a car just like that blue brings back memories I do want to get one now
You have a scanner tool too read code on the Audi transmission if any might have a recalled order from dealer or under warranty!
I like the Chevy S 10 as well Randy. Both will make a nice addition to your channel 👍👍
Heck yeah buy it for him I would love to see his look on his face when he see it
I would love to see the fifth avenue because it brings back memories of my family’s old lebaron they had when I was a kid that looked similar to the fifth avenue
Fwaaah those Chrysler Fifth Avenue are so great !!!
Love the 5th Avenue. Definitely would like to see it on the channel.
S 10 and 5th Ave are great finds. Good stuff.
I really like the 5th Ave. I know the feeling you have with regards to why buy it? I bought a 91 Caprice wagon earlier this year because I just had to. I hope you get it and best of luck with it.
Good video bud keep up the good work
Would be so cool to see you driving this with your dad based on your story!!!!
She's in good condition considering...can't beat that 318. had one in my 71 Newport.
The Le Baron! Remove the vinyl roof and respray it that factory gold! And scrub the interior. Remove the tint on the windows. And lube or fix the windows. I like the s-10 to. Fix the grounds and replace the smart switch. Clean, polish and go. I like it’s factory custom rear bumper from the mid 50’s el-Camio pickup.
