I love how this movie throws you off with the style being 80s and old tv in one house and the neighbor has a flatscreen, or the girl has some futuristic compact computer. It really throws you off to exactly when this is taking place.
the story is basically about the inevitability of death. the ending signifies that no matter what we do, death is always following us. it's an allegory for trying to escape something that's inescapable.
The fact that it is always approaching at all times, forever and always, is what gets me. Like even if I am a thousand miles away, the idea of lying in bed at night and knowing it is currently walking through an empty field or forest somewhere straight for where I am currently lying down, would just leave this horrible sinking feeling that can never lift. That's why there's this extra level of terror in the ending: whether it's dead or not is irrelevant. The fact that they will always be worried that it's still coming (and if it is, how close is it at that moment?), and that feeling will never go away, is the whole point.
This movie is probably the greatest horror masterpiece in the 21st century. I mean, dont get me wrong, theres plenty of horror movies who are phenomenal as well. But this movie was terrifying to the damn core. Especially that tall man scene. That will forever scare me no matter what.
This is such a unique concept so I enjoyed this one. I really liked that her friends supported her right away. You don't see that in a lot of horror movies 🏆 The way the camera spins in a 360° making you look around for any threat and feel such dread and worry is so cool.
They really like playing with time placement in this movie. One scene she’s swimming in the pool. Next she’s walking down the road in winter clothes. One scene they have old rustic tech yet the girl on the couch is using a crazy advanced shell shaped kindle.
I love the ending of this movie. I honestly don’t need a sequel or an explanation as to what the It is. I’ll still watch it though, but I hope it doesn’t answer too too much
I really liked this ending as you can't stop it and it was still following them. I dont think it needs a sequel really but i dont know. Also yes Jay is confirmed to be back
I thought he said it's supposed to walk straight at you....the movie is called it FOLLOWS as in it follows behind u. You also don't have to show the person u pass it to the creature that was a courtesy for her so she knew what was going to happen to her
It's always going after one person, the last person in the chain. It is ALWAYS following/trying to get you, it doesn't matter if you're awake, facing it or anything. just mentioning cause it seemed like there was a lot of confusion about this in the reaction

I think its cool if you can figure it out yourself and not be spoon fed what is going on but l understand you wanted a back story maybe it was an entity or killed spirit or a demon

Love this film. It manages to evoke a sense of paranoia in me that other horror films haven't managed to do!
But I guess it won't be for everybody.
