  • The first Shark helmet to pass the new, much more testing E 22-06 standard, the Spartan RS derives much of its spec and attitude from Sharks flagship MotoGP lid, the Race-R PRO GP. With aggressive, sporty/street styling, most suited to streetfighter or sports bikes, don’t be fooled by the sleek lines of this lid - it’s packed with practical features that make it a phenomenal everyday helmet.

    Just got the Spartan RS for use on my Can-Am Ryker so the styling goes really well. Fit is great and as mentioned for glasses wearers putting your specs on is easy and remains comfortable. The sun visor works really well and the sideways vision is excellent. All in all I am very pleased with this helmet, especially as my local dealer had 20% 😊

    Good review. I have this and an Arai Quantic and of the two, I prefer the Shark. It is quieter for a start and just as comfortable as the Quantic and for the money, you can't beat it - feels much more upmarket than the price suggests. Changing the visor is a doddle as well compared to the Arai.

    The non aggressive styling of the older Spartan Carbon was spot on and weighs in at sub 1.3kg. One of the best lids I’ve ever owned if a bit noisy. Shoei might be quieter but wearing plugs you wont notice. Brilliant helmets for the money.

    I was going to buy a shoei or a Arai but after trying them both on, the xl in both sizes did feel a little tight, The xxl shoei was to large. I tried on this shark in xxl and it was a perfect fit, I really like it .

    I received mine today and I’m disappointed with the fit as the same size (XS) i have an AGV K1 which fits perfectly. The shark feels very tight on my temples and feels hard as well. Is this bcoz of the round head fit of this? Also the D ring feels quite tight to buckle up compared to my K1 which i could do with gloves on.
    Otherwise it looks and feels great, lighter than my K1 and sun visor is lovely to have.

    I was looking for a round head shape helmets and I must say that it's difficult to find one. I've got a pretty round head and when I tried most of helmets in a shop, none of them fit. All of them pushed my temples so much I had a headache by the end of the day.
    Seeing that this one is a round head helmet, I'll try it out and see if this is the one for me. Thanks!

    I was really liking the sporty and aggressive looks of the Spartan RS, so quite a letdown about the fit leaning more towards rounder head shape (thanks for the warning), not likely to be a comfortable experience to wear... A few recommendations for similar helmets better suited for us oval head shaped folk?

      What did you end up getting? He says the Shoei nxr2 might be better for your shape in the vid which is also ECE.22.06 and has a 5 star Sharp rating. Let's hope the Shark Spartan RS is Sharp tested soon.

    Is Spartan RS better than LS2 Challanger?

    • @itsmeagain1745
      @itsmeagain1745 Před rokem

      As far as standards go, the Shark is better (ece 22.06) than the LS2 (ece 22.05). I'm looking for a helmet right now - I think the LS2 looks better. The Spartan RS needs a decent choice of graphics. The LS is a long oval head shape from what I can gather. LS has a helmet that is certified ece 22.06 (Vector) and has more interesting graphics (I think). I can wait to see what comes out in 2023 as the motorbike season doesn't start until middle of May - too much snow and ice (North Norway). Essential for me is that both have internal sun visors. There are plenty places round here that go from semi-dark to sun right in the eyes (twice a day throughout summer when it's not raining - to/from work). Riding at night doesn't help as it's daylight 24/7 for nearly 3 months...

    I tried a similar Shark helmet recently. I don’t like the centre locking mechanism. It’s in the way if the visor is half way up. Then again, I’m an Arai fan and not much would make me swap brands.

    I would say it is a bit of a deal breaker only having two shell sizes, unless you are a medium or the largest size anyway. Nobody likes the bobble head look and loads of other helmets at this price point offer at least three sizes

    Nothing beats Shoei and Arai.
    They've both been there and done that, and they both test way beyond ECE testing criteria.
    As far as helmets go, it's the easiest piece of gear to buy in terms of which brand;
    Shoei or Arai
    The rest is irrelevant.

      @@RoganMatthew Certain Bell and AGV models might be safer than certain Arai models, but the SAFEST Arai helmet will arguably beat anything else on the market. I do wish they’d incorporate MIPS for peace of mind, but their helmets have been exceeding ECE 22.06 standards before the standard even existed, and 22.06 places special attention on mitigating rotational forces to the brain so I guess they don’t really need MIPS.

      I have both new Shoei and Shark lids (two of them). The Shark score equally on sharps testing, are much lighter and more comfortable and has a better quality internal lining all for half the price of the Shoei. If pushed to own just one of them it would be the Shark Spartan Carbon. Superb lid and much under rated.
