    i have found some garnets there that are about an inch in dia. ,sadly not gem quality but still nice to find. also got some wicked gem quality topaz there, could be what you have that looks like clear quartz.. you were close to another mine that has what they call cinniman garnets which i also found. keep searching and good luck

      I would love to find some big garnets like that. Thanks for the info that place is a gem in itself for Auburn its really nice there.

      Gems can be just as fun. I think for me it's the thrill of the hunt. You never know what you might find

      I go all over digging the north east basically every week I'm someplace collecting

    If I was there, I would have dug that hole deeper. Tried to see if there's anything different down there

      This was a exploratory trip for me as I had never been. I’ll definitely go back and dig some more

      The park requests that you don't dig more than 2' from the surface. It is a really neat place.

    Maybe if you dug deeper maybe you would find a trap you would find a Treasure trove of something

    It is pronounced "Mount A-pa-tight", not "Mount A-pa-teet".
