  • Drapes are important elements of your home décor. A perfectly hung drape creates an attractive aura in the room. This video demonstrates how to hang a drape perfectly. There are a few hardware items needed to mount the drape, which include a drape rod, measuring tape, pencil, a handheld drill, draping rings, a screw driver, and other mounting hardware.
To mount the drape rod, it is important to first measure the width of the window. Always allow 2-3 inches of space on each side of the window for the drapes to open fully. Drape rods are usually placed four inches above the window, but if you want to add height to the room, you can place the rod close to the ceiling.
Once you decide where to mount the window hardware, it is important to check the levels correctly, using the carpenters' level. Next, hold the mounting brackets to the wall and mark the location of the screw holes with a pencil before drilling them. Fix the brackets using a screw driver and mount the drape rod for a perfect look.

"Attach finials to the end of the rod. Your drapes are now mounted..." But they are not. How are the curtain rings used? I came looking for that specific detail, but alas, your curtains magically hung themselves--a power most of us do not have!

It's so easy. If you buy curtains from them that are meant to be hung by rings (without clips), they will come with curtain hooks. Those hooks slip through two plastic "fishing line" strings in the header of each panel (the flat part of the hook goes under the plastic lines). You'll see every 5 inches or so two little plastic lines peeking through the fabric. Once you've slipped the metal hook under those lines, they then hang directly on the smaller ring of the curtain rings. Promise, it's easy and it comes with a picture diagram.

@@TheJunierBug I would call them immediately. Is it a Pottery Barn curtain you bought? Or is it another brand? If it's another brand, you can buy hooks on Amazon that have a sharp end meant to pierce the fabric and you can put them on the header however far apart you like.

Saber Cayenne um, I do. Thanks tho.
I just spent time I could have used unpacking boxes watching a video teaching me how to do something I’ve already done. I want to HANG MY CURTAINS on the already installed rods. I’m not interested in watching how I should have done a job already finished.

I purchased the same drapes and was hoping to hang them by the loops on the back, however they didn't come with loops on the back as advertised. They came with metal things that slide into the drape and you hang metal clips from. So, there is no hanging loop. No one at the company seems to understand this or be helpful. I'm unhappy. I was looking forward to these drapes working.

no one talks about putting the drapes on the rod and then holding it up to check where you want the curtain bottoms to land. Right to the floor, an inch or a few inches above the floor.......etc. Hmm.....

I'm a designer, rule of thumb is 1/4"-1/2" above the ground if you are not "pooling" the fabric. It keeps the fabric clean and omits an unsightly gap and the bottom of the drape.

Need help with height too. How much length do the small rings add? Also, since I'm using the drapery hooks to attach to the back of the curtains, do I use the bottom 2 threads or the top 2 of the 3? Pictures look like the top 2 but I'd like that in the instructions. I'll look for other videos so I don't have to hold up the whole thing to determine height

Very disappointed with the instructions that came with this rod and drape. And the fact that you can't find a step by step video to hang the drapes is unbelievable. I got the double rings and Seating curtain but can't figure out how to attach them with double rod. For what I paid I expected alot more

Pottery Barn screws were too long and wouldn’t go in flush with the wall. Stripped the screw head. Same with anchors. Anchor stuck out 1/2”. Huge hole now from oversized anchor. Going to watch plastering holes video.

Penny Ellis there’s no hard fast answer to that. You gauge Depending on the length of curtain, and where it will land on the floor. I go 3-4” above window & leave 3” on the sides so the curtain doesn’t block the view.

    • @hdb80
      @hdb80 Před 3 lety

Measurements. Iasure from the hanging "device" to the ground. So if using rings, or by a pocket in the curtains, or tie tabs, etc. Meaure from the top of the hanging device to the bottom of the drape and add no more than 1/2". That is where the top of your rod should be.

+xtmg2010x Drill a hole in the drywall big enough to fit the "plastic thing" in. Then push it into the hole. When you drive the screw into the "plastic thing" it will expand and grip into the drywall. By the way, the "plastic thing" is called an anchor.

I have a very deep set window, with a large wide windowsill. The windows themselves are around 84 inches tall and the window goes in about a foot from the actual wall. I live in an apt bldg that used to be a factory, we're not allowed to nail anything into the walls (which drives me nuts) so I'm using a tension rod. No idea whether to hand the curtains up against the window or away from the window which would leave a cavern between the curtain & the actual window. uggghh

The curtains come with curtain hooks (little silver metal hook things. Those slip into plastic lines on the back of the curtain, and then you sue the metal hooks (now attached to the curtain panel) to hang over the metal rings.

Those are anchor screws. They are used BEFORE you put the screw in. The screw actually fits inside those anchors. It's used in case you can't drill into a wall stud. It makes the bracket more stable and secure in the wall.
