  • Incredible celestial experience! A Total Solar Eclipse turns Day to Night almost instantly during Totality. A View from the Drone and from the ground.
We saw the Total Solar Eclipse in Houlton, Maine where the sky went dark for 3 mins 22 secs at 3:32pm. According to the news, Maine was the only State in the path of totality with the best weather and clear sky while other states like Texas was mostly covered in thick clouds.
    0:00 - Intro
    0:23 - Start of Totality
2:00 - Drone View of Totality
3:28 - Night to Day - End of Totality
    Video filmed 4/8/2024 in Maine.

Aren't we lucky to have platforms such as CZcams, so people can post/upload rare moments such as this. I've never seen this in person, nor have I noticed anything different during one, so I greatly appreciate it when it's uploaded

I was not expecting getting that emotional. I've seen the pictures and videos before and I always found those very beautiful of course. But nothing can describe the feeling while it is happening in front of you but I'll try.
You first look at the sun with light blocking glasses and you first see the moon blocking the sun. I said to myself... ok... this is really happening a bit in denial. And then you see it blocking slowly but surely. The temperature is starting to cool down even if the light is very bright. It made me realize how we are so dependent on the sun's energy for all life on earth. It made me appreciate how sun=life. The shadows have weird shapes. You look at the landscape and you know something is odd.
And then... totality his happening, the crowd is screaming in awe, we just can't contain ourselves, it is literally impossible to contain. You feel the hype, it is stronger than what you expected. It is sunset colors 360 all around you and you see what seems like a black hole in the sky. Truly the weirdest and most beautiful thing I ever saw. You can see the sun atmosphere surrounding the moon, it feels violent, chaotic and you can't believe you can see sun storms with your naked eye. It is frightening and amazing at the same time. You can see planets and star which feels like a glitch in the matrix in day time.
I felt like everybody wanted to share the joy with others. It removes the day to day problems. At that moment, hundreds of people are just cheering up what the universe can show us. It is a first timer for 99% of us so we are like a child discovering the world again looking confused and excited at the same time.
So it is all there, right in front of you, the sun, the moon, the planets, the stars, the animals reacting to us and the light, the insects and bird chants changing, all people around you, many from around the world to see this, different languages, different families, different loves. But all our differences doesn't matter for those 4 minutes we all share one love to us and the universe.
I felt connected to what our ancestors felt and I was grateful for them. I felt connected to the immensity of the universe and all its beauty.

Such a shame that no-one told these people that the most spectacular place to view a total eclipse is actually out in the countryside, not in the middle of a city.
There are a lot of natural phenomenon that all happens in 10 minutes, that normally take a whole night.
The animals lie down to sleep. Many flowers close up their petals. Nocturnal insects begin their night-time noises. And yes, when the eclipse finishes there is a dawn chorus !
You can't imagine how profoundly this adds to the experience.

i love how everyone is involved :) its so wholesome. when traffic slowed to a stop on the expressway we were talking to other people through the open car window, everyone was heading to see the eclipse. some college kids started yelling AWWW MY BABY at our dog who was sticking his head out the window EVERY time we went past them, and they found out his name too, remy. i love that stuff

Can our sun blink? Wow, what an amazing sun, a little different from the NASA version, don't you think? In the center, a small black spot covered the entire sun, and everything around became dark? What kind of nonsense? Trust your eyes, not NASA with its eclipses. It was more like replacing a worn-out light bulb. God bless! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

It isn't even dark during the total solar eclipse. It would be way cooler if it was absolute darkness like in the midst of night, and you got to see all the stars..... The total solar eclipse is overrated and overhyped. It is only a bit dark, like at sunset : really nothing spectacular......

Don't be a wet blanket. People are simply enjoying the breathtaking spectacle in the sky of a rare occasion. The energy and euphoria of the atmosphere can be felt. Why would anyone not like this especially when it is a rare occasion and most other days are just mundane days? Growing up doesn't mean you become cynical and miserable. Those are just negative characteristics. People are still people who have hopes and dreams, experiences and happy occasion yet you want to be angry with that? Why don't you grow up yourself?
