I agree with everything you said 100%. Growing up, I always had a glamorised view of the western countries, believing that their world was perfect without any problems at all. We grown up criticising our country and believing that all problems only exist here. However, after moving abroad I was shocked to see common problems like poverty, homelessness, healthcare problems so deeply rooted in the society. No country is perfect and human problems exist everywhere. I have also learnt to appreciate Indian culture, history, food so much more now.

Nice video. One thing that always strikes me when I travel, not only to the US, but even countries we consider smaller and poorer are cleaner than India and the people have far better civic sense. I've travelled to Sri Lanka and was blown away by how clean the place is. Yes, the country is not as wealthy as India, but the people are so cleanliness conscious. I feel depressed when I see the trash and litter in India. The same people would be at the best of their behaviour when they go to other countries, but when in India, they just don't care and throw and dirty the place. Its as if all patriotism is only in words, not in action.

I live in north California. Here in San Francisco the city is full of homeless beggars, I feel unsafe even when driving, I cannot think of walking. I have never seen so many beggars on the road side in any other places including India. The short distance trains are unsafe in the US - robbery inside trains are common, I survived such robbery. The doctor offices actually run businesses, insurance processing, other paper work, privacy policy, etc. are important, actual treatment is not the priority. People are least helpful, people call the police for minor problems with neighbors but they don't just talk.

I lived in USA for almost 20 yrs. Yes, you are right, Chipotle is the best and we Indians love it. I miss America a lottttt. But now I'm retired and living off my Social security money here in India. Phir bhi dil hai Hindustani 😀. I still can't get to like our Indian roads and traffic here. I miss those bagels, croissants. Miss many other things, i worked there and the polite nature does not exist here. Here the neighbour are very nosey and no privacy here at all. At first my kids found it very hard in school but second year in Chicago, they learnt their way . But now they're so americanised that they can't even think that i as a mother could live with them. They want me to visit just for two weeks (standard American) . I feel at home here but am very lonely. But end if the day, I'm comfortable here in India, as life is easier to pull along. I don't need a car here, ola and uber are the best as we don't have to park our car in these crowded and narrow roads. I miss the quietness of America. Interesting video. Having come to the US in the 70s, I must say that my own experiences were different, which shows you how much the country has changed. Small talk is, indeed, pretty unique but once you start doing it yourself, you begin to realize that it is just one form of social lubrication - it doesn't really mean anything, nor is it supposed to. You're absolutely right about the food situation - eating out is not a particularly healthy activity. And lately, safety has become a very major concern, with even previously safe areas now being rife with carjackings and mall shootings. I've always visited India all these years, and still visit at least once a year, sometimes twice, and the new India is indeed an exciting thing to experience.
Regarding roads and traffic rules, well...you may not have spent much time in the DC area, but the roads are nowhere near as nice as they used to be, and people drive pretty aggressively - and at relatively high speeds too. After an extended project in Germany, I used to tell my friends that the difference in roads between Germany and the US is like the difference in roads between the US and India - I'm exaggerating, of course, but you get the idea.
    Thanks for the video.

There are some places in India that are safe I'd say like Mumbai coz i travelled at around 11pm from Dadar to Thane way back in 2008-09 (lived there between 2007-10) Pune, Bangalore is not bad either coz that's been my home off and on for past 22 years.. ofcourse i did not feel as safe in a couple of other cities when i travelled there for work. there are good and bad everywhere.. normally people say beware of African American neighborhoods in the US but when our car had a breakdown at 10pm at Monroe, Louisiana, we were helped by an African-American couple to tow the car and all that.. but India has a lot of advantages that we take for granted until we travel out of our country to appreciate what we are blessed with.. as Sadhguru says India is a cosmic chaos and I'm one of those who missed that chaos when i lived abroad 😊😊.. that said I loved my experience in the US or other countries but second only to my Motherland India😊😊.. I'm only at 3:29, but I had to stop to comment... the majority of the US is not, in fact, educated. Not with college, anyway. And yes, we have a very high rate of drug addiction. I live in Castle Rock, Colorado, and there are no homeless people here. I saw that you were in Columbus, OH, which has a HUGE drug problem, big time heroin, now Fentanyl problem. It's considered a large city, there are probably a lot of homeless people there. I moved here from Janesville, Wisconsin, and never saw a homeless person there, either. I lived in Mesa, Arizona for 15 years and that's a large city, suburb of Phoenix, big drugs, decent amount of homelessness. It really isn't that bad in probably about 75% of the country, though.

    Hi Shoto 🙏
I read a lot on Quora and whatever you are saying regarding homelessness and drug addiction is absolutely true !! There are a lot of people there who are alone completely alone, dipressed and in need of love care and support! I read a lot of true stories on Quora and I end up crying feeling there pain 😔 Health Services there are very very expensive and specially mental health services. People do not have enough to hire any suitable psychiatrist of their choice. Since everything is covered by health insurance, people don't have the freedom to decide who should do their treatment.
Nuclear families with lots if drug addictions and separations. Children suffer and have so many mental disorders.
However there are a lot of good things too. But for now I thought of sharing these with you.
BBC report says that India is the most dipressed country but I feel Dipression is not country specific, it's the new technology and increasing rat race to compete and become better, that leads us to dipression.
Love care and affection is the basic things which every soul craves for. And there is a lot of lack of these things nowadays.

One thing about the homeless in the US. It is not that they are lazy people. A majority of homeless people have jobs. The problem is that some jobs don't pay enough to pay for all your needs. If it is a choice to eat or to have an apartment, of course you are going to eat. It is messed up, but goods sold keep going up in price due to inflation but the wages haven't increased by anywhere near the same rate. There is a minimum wage required by the government, but it has not increased in quite a while. The richest people in the country keep making more and more, but the lowest workers don't get wage increases. This is why we have people in the top 1% of earners that are big multi-billionares, and yet there are homeless people working multiple jobs. I keep thinking the system will end up collapsing somehow. It can't be sustained this way. OVer the last couple years there have been some signs of it, as some of the richest people have lost massive amounts of wealth, but then again it is but a small part of their total wealth. I think the root of the problem is political, with big businesses being able to give politicians massive donations to get the candidate they want elected, while the common person is watching propaganda disguised as "news." The only two parties in the political process are so polarized they can't work together and so nothing gets done. It is a big mess.

We need campaign reform laws that codify that corperations cannot donate towards political campains, but since the corperations have everyone in their pocket, no one is going to pass reform laws. OK, I love your content, Shato. I practice Sanatana Dharma in the US, and making it to India is my DREAM. I have to say, though, that this kind of content is not helpful in bringing our cultures together. You're making somewhat blanket statements about a place that you visited... once? Twice? I'm not sure. The US has MANY PROBLEMS... like, MANY. You're talking about how people don't stare and all and make small talk, but you couldn't possibly have had that many situations where people legitimately walked away from you mid-conversation. If you and I had met on the street, you could bet your butt that I'd have stayed and conversed with you for a while. I love meeting new people, and I genuinely love to get to know people. There are plenty of assholes in the US, but aren't there assholes in India? I just don't see how these kinds of blanket statements will make Indians feel more welcome or happy while visiting or immigrating to the US. Our countries are on opposite ends of this beautiful planet, and there is going to be culture shock. We have many differences, but we also have a lot in common. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I like to see my fellow human beings as my brothers and sisters.

Hi! I'm an Indian, and while I was halfway through the video, I was also thinking, okay now we're halfway past the video, 'where is the part where u balance the negative with the positive? 😅 The pressure is well built, now waiting for the punch line.'
To clear up any misunderstandings, let me give u a little context/background from this side of the world(which is missing in the video). Currently India is going through a phase of a complete metamorphosis, where we have a lot of infrastructure and all sorts of development going on with a booming economy. Reason, In the Indian media n you tube we have daily debates about how India is made to look bad, high on crime and poverty-struck by almost all the international n local media platforms even after being one of the largest economies in the world. There's literally a travel business in the west where people pay to see slums in India(It's real plz check it online). Which creates a very messed up perception of our country. Result, we r overcompensating for that in many ways. On the other hand, we have never imagined US or any other western country having slums or any health service issues, bcz that's how we have been fed by the international n our own local media, main focus is always on sensationalism and drama, never to give any clear picture of anything n bridge the gap(I'm sure u'd agree on that). So I hope u can understand the emotion. I'd say this video was literally made on a whim, with the only intention to reveal to the us who've never been to US, 'hey look, we're not doing so bad here, no need to feel bad guys, if we have such problems, the country that we so admire also has so n so problems.' Only thing, she got on a spree about the problems😂 I won't deny it worked for me, but I can understand how u must have felt. There's some generalization going on there about the people too. That's clearly part of the cultural difference or shock she experienced. She definitely needs to work on that next time. To balance this type of content for both the Indian and US audiences. Akka if u r reading this.. just a little feedback. I know u're brilliant enough. Much love to all the Ishangas everywhere! 🙏

While speaking of nature, the population density in US and population density to land in India is very different.. People cannot afford to have houses as big as warehouses like the Americans and also with India's trade needs, technological development need for resources along with the population rise It will be difficult to preserve nature much more than what has already been.

It is good to like what you have, but the US has a lot of things that you currently dont have in India. You need to hold on to what is great about India, while accepting what is good in the US. You are right US has a lot smaller population and a lot more money, so that makes a difference. As far as health care, it is very good for most people. Most people are covered by insurance. The very poor are covered by government funding. And if you go to the hospital in emergency you have to be covered. Culturally people are independent and and don't interfere with you - that is generally good. In most cases people are helpful. Most people work very hard and are disciplined. And because of the system, they attract the smartest people in th world. Indians have made great progress in the last few years, but a lot more needs to be done. It is better to be smart and do whatever is needed rather than just be biased.

But the problem is, when some Indians come back they have only good things for any country other than India.. India is bad in that, bad in this etc., As much as I agree that every country has flaws, we also need to educate people that there are good and bad everywhere not Just in India. If that helps some students wanting to go to the US to study by borrowing hefty loans. That said, i loved my stay in the US and given a chance I will go there and come back to India to settle down.. But India is beautiful and we have a good quality of life and also things to whine about 😊😊 but it's not a situation where we only have to whine about things in India
